I agree much better videos than some of those. Kevin Ellis and John Timmermans being my personal favourites much more entertaining than those listed. I personally won't be paying to watch but I am sure plenty will. Carp fishing is continuing to evolve and extract cash from people pockets.

I like Dave Lanes videos as they feel real with no product pushing. Not signed up for Patreon and unlikely to do so as he still produces enough free stuff and I simply don't have enough time to watch more than occasional video. That said agree with the below, Kev Ellis is the most entertaining and will choose his videos over the others

I can see where they are coming from, self employed and looking to diversify etc. but surely they realise, well Pecky and Dave Lane should, no one is willing to pay for magazines so why would they be willing to pay for a limited content from a single provider? Seems like they are shooting themselves in the foot but good luck to them....

These are sponsered anglers bringing out the 'pay to view' content, surely their sponsers would rather the content was free so it was viewed by a wider audience? I havent paid for boxing/football on sky/BT out of principal and the same will apply here!

Free you tube for the masses I say, though that seems to have been plagued by adverts of late!

I watched all the free Dave Lane vids in the original lockdown, and now pay to watch him on Patreon. Each to their own, TH does the best vids with ESP but I wouldn't think he would be one to use payperview.

If you don't want to pay to watch, don't do it. For £6 a month which is just over a pint or so where I am, it fills my small amount of available spare time very nicely 👍

The thing to remember is no one in the history of the world as ever made a fortune on ego alone....they will be found out soon enough!! Biscuit of the month, cobb cooking or spinner/Ronnie rig... it gets me when people say it's only the price of a pint a month, same principle works with crowdsourcing and kickstarters, multiply by the thousand and you are literally having yer pants pulled down for “top quality content”

Unfortunately all these “Named anglers” it's there job and they don't like criticism us mere hobby anglers can't know more than them.
I think a lot of them think we are jealous as they fish for a living. Nothing could be further from the truth for me. If fishing was my job it would be ruined.

I don't feel like I having my pants pulled down personally, I pay £6 and I don't know or care how many others pay the same. Makes no difference to me, same as always if you don't want something don't pay for it.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no big deal.

Now people who have Sky TV need to check on their pant imo, but you know what I haven't got it because I couldn't justify the cost.

How many people pay a tenner for a pack of fags every day and moan about other people spending money?

I'd say that a lot of us owe a huge amount to a very small percentage of high profile anglers that have enabled us to catch the fish we do due to their sharing of their own findings and hours of solving problems, say the likes of Maddocks for instance sharing the hair rig, Dave Lane sharing things like the 360 rig, and it goes on. Then there are the hangers on who just want to milk it for what it's worth and it's about turning a hobby into a money making opportunity and to whatever degree massage their ego. These types it could be anything, football, snooker, you name it, it just so happens that it's fishing.

I find nearly all the carp orientated videos dull as you like. They just bore me senseless. Simon Crow is boring, Gaz Fareham is awful, Korda video's generally suck, that biscuit geezer is dreadful... I wouldn't pay to watch any of it thinking about it.

All this as I've said on other threads is easy to criticize, could or would any of you lot be able to do any better? That includes me. Would you be prepared to pay to watch you? I know I wouldn't pay to watch me.

Like Adam Penning too. An intellectual with good viewpoints. Doesn't mean to say I agree with everything that these guys say but still, I like to hear their views and why they think what they believe works for them. Would I pay for it? No! Do I mind seeing the occasional product plug? Nope! If there's good value in what I'm exposed to then I don't mind watching/listening.

I paid for the Cypography stuff when it was one film a month as I felt that they were worth the £5.99, but when it went to small films weekly & you could only watch if you continued to subscribe (I used to download each one onto my Media Server so I didn't have to stream them in contention with the Mrs & Step Daughter complaining that they couldn't watch what they wanted because I was using all the bandwidth at home) I stopped subscribing as the price had gone up & the content wasn't what I was looking for (I prefer to sit & watch longer films rather than 10-15 minutes videos).
There is no chance in hell I would be paying to watch an individual's sessions though. The "CarpCatcher" started doing paid for content a while back with his Patreon page but I never bought any of those as I didn't feel they would warrant the cost of watching someone talk about their first coffee & second breakfast!

I may consider paying for a subscription if it was just Terry Hearn doing his video's as you know it would be a good story as well as true passion put in to the session. Anybody else though, I would give a miss totally for paid content.

I've got to say that I'm quite disappointed by the majority of the replies here. I was planning on filming this weekends session and getting you lot to pay me to watch it.
I've already laid out a considerable amount on a selection of biscuits and fancy rig tying materials that I've never actually used. And this bloody yappy dog will have to go to the pound.
Shame on you all.

Each to their own, but paying for content that is already out there seems a bit odd to me. The “pro” anglers are merely trying to earn a living from carp fishing so I don't blame them. The thing that ****s me off is that there are people doing it who catch very little......why pay to hear waffle from someone who catches less than the average man. Some story type clips will be worth paying for in the future and some of the match anglers have Interesting things to discuss but most of it is second hand Info from 30 years ago!! Plus I'm not paying to keep someone tramping up the banks midweek whilst I'm grafting my nads off waiting for the weekend 😂😂

I remember that and his facebook posts. I chipped in about exactly the number of spoonfuls of sugar he put in a plastic container.
I seem to recall he stopped other people posting images on his timeline shortly after.

I rarely watch any Youtube creations, not for me, as for paying for Patreon, to heck with that.
I used to buy magazines if it looked interesting, but most is regurgitated, rebranded, reinvented stuff of old, and sadly what is left is not in the quality of CarpWorld as it used to be.

In fact I reckon the best fishing magazine is a freebie, if you are into your pike fishing, and a member of PAC, Pikelines. More information in that than any number of carp cartoon books...😖😆😉

Couple of years back that fella was fishing opposite me and I saw him constantly leaving his rods unattended. At one point he was easily 300 yards from them. I assumed he was bored and fancied a walk. Not exactly what you'd expect from an angler with his reputation. Seemed like a nice fella though - had a chat in the car park before the gate opened...

i love threads like these .... its very easy, dont like it then dont pay, chances are there will plenty of others that will. This forum is a mere tiny percentage of market nowadays and my guess is we are most of an age where we are not the target audience anyway ,,,, however if paying for it increases the quality long term then if i was interested in watching them i would be all for it .... you only have to look at the leading TV subscription services to see that.

As for some comparing to the likes of a Sky subscription .... do me favour, football was pretty much dead in the water until Sky came along and revitalised it .... We now have more football coverage and enhanced viewing than we know what to do with and along with the paid content on other channels has never seen so much quality .... There is no principal in not paying for it as you just end up cutting off your nose to spite your face, but as with anything you get what you pay for these days and its the individual choice as to whether they can afford or justify it.

Always was neutral towards adam penning, some good, some bad. But i love people daring to speak out, being their own man, being ahead of the curve and all that, so eversince i saw some yt video with him going against the narrative i think he's a top bloke. I mean, i see grown men wearing a nappy on yt when i want my fishing video's fix. This is not normal.

He shouldn't be on ****ter though, but apparently he is, and since everything remotely interesting is banned over there it can't be that spicy:P

I read all his books more than once, so I don't really understand why I would pay to hear him re-read them to me I do feel every quid spent on Dave is worth it. Love his writing and do not begrudge him the money to practice his passion and keep me entertained in the process. Especially so because I believe he used to basically live on the bank and gave up loads for fishing and writing. I don't mind supporting him as he gets older

The tales Dave tells are so much more in depth than his books, including a lot of stuff that he obviously thought would be iffy to write about. The Sonning stuff was brilliant, and thought provoking too. Well worth £5 a month.

I've also read all his books, and signed up for his Patreon material early.
Think I've said before that his way of describing the fishing, along with the extensive video content he's accumulated over the years, brings the book content vividly to life. Probably my best £5 a month investment, I also currently pay for Leon's, Joe's CarpAngle and Cypography (which is probably the one I'll drop first, some of the content seems a bit thin.).

The thing to remember is no one in the history of the world as ever made a fortune on ego alone....

I think a full generation of youtubers and onlyfans models would disagree with his statement

I think lockdowns forse them to make such a decision. A lot of services switched to paid subsriptions because of this. Thank god youtube is still free and content there is not worse I don't think it's a bad idea to provide paid services. Creating of media content takes a lot of time, we need to learn to appreciate it more. What I'm leading to is that It's better to learn how to earn more and spend wisely than to save on everything. A lot of online sources like playlouder.com helped me to control and double my savings. Highly recommended.

I think it comes down to, should they not be getting paid for their work? plenty of their stuff is available free, once or twice a year paying a monthly sub and having a binge is probably quite good value.

They are selling a product, they have no right to anything, no more than an ice cream seller has . If it's something people want and the price is right then happy days , if not there is no money in it .

" I've recently found out that some apps allow you to make cash https://wealthofgeeks.com/apps-that-pay-you-money/ for doing some daily routine, such as playing games or walking. While I'm still not fully sold, it seems like some of them are indeed legit! Let's change the system. Cheers!"
