It is a proper shame what carp fishing has turned into.

I love a pod and have had a few.
I had one of Keiths (Defiant MPS) original Trident in stainless and then when he bought out the carbon version bought one of them .... Sold them, as fancied a change and bought a Fox Quattro, Jag Prolite and then a Dymag carbon pod but I felt none were as good as the Tridents .... So went back to Defiant and bought a Titanium Panther and added a Panther in Carbon version when he bought them out. Best pods on the market imo and only need to buy once (due to the quality) and i wouldnt part with either even though they hardly get used (I dont think my carbon Panther has ever been used)
For cheap and cheerful the Fox Trek Pod is excellent (old now) and also the Cygnet compact pod is a nice bit of kit

Actually, I thought the Vertex rods were a bit of a heavy beast (partly because of the reel seat and fittings I imagine).... The set I owned briefly (12ft 3lb) weighed a hefty 425grams (according to my records ..... And. yes, there was a period in my life when I weighed the rods lol) against the Mk1 Sniper which comes in at around 300grams. The Daiwas rods I had (Linear/Theory) were even lighter at around 250-280grams. Those Daiwas Tournament Linear rods were a lovely rod.
Vertex were proper rods though and it what lead me to the Textrix range when they superseded them and another name Drennan have bought back for a more budget range
