I remenber seeing rods set up like that, 3ft drop on the bobbins, they used to pick up the rods, walk quickly backwards and bring the rod, back over the shoulder to take up the slack, and set the hook. I remember someone said rods set so high a cow could walk underneath.

Yes, there was a definite knack to be learnt when going to the loo whilst wearing those one piece suits.

I always thought having round boilies was to achieve consistent results with a throwing stick. I have just become aware of the omc lock hook, has anyone used it? Any feedback on it? I won't touch omc products any more than I would kiss Ali's arse. I.e f!@#£%g never. Just wondered if they actually made a decent innovation.

Few people nowadays have the necessary skills to fish close in without revealing their presence. There used to be a guy at Horton Kirby who fished the margins, and he put signs up on the path, either side of his swim, telling people not to speak to him, and to walk quietly as they passed by.

You could buy a groundsheet off ebay and cut to fit. Would be a lot cheaper too.

Where the wind was blowing, in the lee of an island there's no wind.

I winter I'd rather fish where the sun shines, one place I fish has an island down half of the lake, in winter the sun never gets to the north facing side of the island. Those swims become effectively redundant.
