Still got a couple at home from memory always favored the fox inline around this time the Nash ones with the solid plastic vain and the lead had a cut away the full length of the lead, the plastic insert was like a trilobe shape they were a good idea but were next to useless as the bit of plastic exiting the back that the tail rubber fitted onto would snap just looking at it, very brittle plastic.

If anything was still made for me it wouldn't be fishing kit it would be a Texan or Nutty bar.

The Gardner bankstick's with two screws were "Black Shadow". They still make them but sadly only one thumbscrew now. I still buy and use the original ones (Not Black Shadow) from the 80's with the brass top and one thumbscrew as they still sell those on Ebay and nothing on market these days matches them.

Shimano Catana best ever Mono line made IMHO

I had some Garner twist lock storm sticks in 36" and 48" heavier than lead but made to last which were green with brass looking auger points and double brass thumb screws, let them go with a Trakker big Z brolly system I gave to a mate.

Black shadow, that's it thanks. The ones on the AD site aren't like the original, they didn't have the brass point and the new ones look thinner. I have a set of the original ones in the shortest length, but would buy another if I could get the originals.

Angling Intelligence were a fantastic company. I can't remember a single product of theirs which didn't have an improvement on an existing design. The 60" brolly with the extended front spokes (which is common practice now) was superb. One of the few companies which didn't just sell rebranded stuff which was already available.

In the 60's that would be all I took with me for a weeks fishing to live on. Apple or blackcurrant pie for breakfast, dinner and tea and swilled down with a tin of "long Life" laid on my Woolworths sun lounger under a 45" umbrella. I never even took water with me, and looking back now, how the hell did I survive on that diet because I could not do it now.

And just realized, I would only have been about 13+. It must have been easier to have been able to buy beer in them days underage. And I still even have my "Inde Coope Long Life" can opener ("Can Spanner" as they was known by for the younger generation) on my keyring still to punch two holes in the cans to drink from, long before the days of ring pulls.

With respect :That's not Technium Black , Jerry.
Its the replacement "Technium line" and is normally described as "dark" or "grey" rather than the clear version.
A good few vendors do advertise it as Technium Black but it is not the same product.
Whether they are trying it on knowing how popular the original was or are just plain lazy or inept with their descriptions is debateable .

The kevlar specimen came with three top sections 1.25tc, 1.75tc avons and 1.5dci quiver with a selection of tips. The kevlar specialist was a lower tc version with three tips. These were great highly sought after rods very different to the cheaper twin top kevlars that came out after.

Those barbel kevlar are still a very good rod, better than the standard carbon ones of that era. The ones I said about were expensive at the time and shimano also did Technium mgs 2500 and 4000 reels which are now very rare and sought after.

What was the old Nash mono line called.
It was before bullet, and it was silver grey in colour. I think it came in an black and green box, but may be wrong???
A mate used to use it and it was tough as wire but cast for miles, and super supple.
The name Power+ seems to ring a bell...

North Western Rods.
I had a pair of 2½lb TC's back in the 1980's, far ahead of other rods of the time.
And over the Shimano Baitrunners, the 4000 or 4500 Aero Gte's before the 80/60/5010's.

Brings back great memories of using the 'big' 3 tackle shops in Norwich, John Wilsons, Tommy Boulton and Dave Plummer. Great shops, great people.

Two things that stand out for me, the original jrc defender brolly and bash bullet braid and mono, oh that's three things.

North Westerns, I use a pair of the “Carbon Carp” 12ft 2¾ tc. most of the time for my Carp fishing, with a Tri-Cast 12ft 2½ tc Legend as my 3rd Rod if I use three (Which just got handle section re-built at the weekend)

The North Westerns I bought old stock “new” a couple of years ago, still had the string tied Labels on them “Barlows £99.95” (Which I've kept) That shows just how old they are! Must have been some of the very first Carbon Rods made.

I actually bought a pair of the “Rolls Royce of Reels” to go on them last week, a pair of Abu Suveran 4000's, but I've changed my mind and fitted them on my JW Avon deluxe Barbel Rods instead.

AKN 12H 2.75 12ft, I still have one remaining from my set, still in use for winter piking, they truly were an exceptional blank.

Anyone remember the original fox ,pegleg swingers in white.anyway those peg legs were not with out problems on the strike..
So fox brought out an upgrade ,which was the adjustable plastic white balls with compression washer. I had a set of these, the were lighter and nicer to use than the later versions ..

(Fox pegleg swingers,, plus KJB,three rod pod ,deadly combo ,resulting in carnage)

And ,I loved my Northwestern Sealey..,not long ago found a supplier of NW carbon blanks,new ,old stock ,swingtip rods..

I can't remember the peglegs, but have a set with white heads and ball clips. As with all my ball clip indicators I replaced the O rings with small pieces of old catapult elastic, much longer lasting.

The Abu Suverans are still my favourite reel of all time Keith. Ive sill got a pair of brand new never been used 4000 suverans in the loft. There fetching good money these days but i could never part with them, told the wife to stick them in my coffin with me when i pop my cloggs 😄

Not a carp rod but rod wise my shimano antares specialist is my favourite rod of all time.

I mentioned this to a mate but he hadn't heard of it, his knowledge of Nash line only goes back to bullet (new schooler), so I spent ages trawling the web to get some evidence and couldn't find anything. It's like I started to doubt my own sanity, and not for the first time!
I don't suppose anyone has a link or a photo of Nash power+ mono.

I seen boxed Suverans going for almost £500 each of late! They are widely recognised as the best made Reel ever. I was expecting to have to change some bearings or shims, must be worn somewhere, stripped them and did not find a single issue anywhere. When you consider they had been being used for spinning for Bass for possibly 40 years usage, that's pretty amazing, there's not even any cosmetic damage to the paint.

You must be itching to load them with line and use them Stuart - I know I would be!

Pro logic crustacean ground bait and the mussel meat were really good bait
Nash solubles(out way before outlaw baits bought them out)
Nash liquid and powders (can't think for life of me what they are called now)
Nash solubles but they looked like polo sweets where you threaded them down the line to you hook link they'd then dissolve around and also leave your hook link straight and not tangled

Outer wrap is like a heavy waxed canvass with a rubberised backing. It then has an inner cotton dome which has a built in ground sheet. It was years ahead of it's time in the early 90's. Weighs a ton lugging it about, and the pegs are those spindle camping type.
