I don't think that's true at all.
Do I admire his angling, his ethos, and the hundreds of special cap he has caught? Absolutely.
Would I swap my life with his? Definitely not.
TH is fairly unique in that he is a professional angler in its truest sense. He gets paid a salary to go fishing (whilst doing a bit of brand promo along the way). This is incredibly rare. I don't think he earns a lot of money (explains his decor
) but he lives and breaths fishing and he's bloody good at it, and most importantly he's happy. Fair play I say.

As my old man used to say its a long time to be unhappy if you don't enjoy your job.
Looks like Tel loves his job and how many of us can say that? best of luck to him and long may it continue as for me he is the best story teller out there and his passion for angling is infectious.
Would I want to live his lifestyle? no, because fishing is not my number one priority in life.

Not interested in his personal life but as an angler he's a legend!! I'm sure there are thousands of people who have dedicated been successful in their chosen sport business pastime who have also chosen to be single but we don't seem to judge them the same 🤷♂️

The bloke is unreal - most rounded angler ever. Just look at the fish he has caught along the way going way back to late 80's. He has had them all.

I think it's only a matter of time before Tel drifts away into another area of our pastime, i've heard that he will be targeting other species as the circus has got to much for him and the mainstream anglers do not have the "mid week" edge anymore as lakes are rammed out all week...

Surely that's when the top anglers show there worth when a lakes busy. That's carp fishing these days. That's half the battle won with sponsored anglers. Just being able to fish mid week.

I agree, if he really did have enough with carping, he'd still keep himself relevant catching specimen sized fish of all species, whether that would pay the bills is a different story though.

I usually love his films and the way he tells the stories about low stock venues etc, and i'll go against the grain here, I enjoyed it, but not his best imo. Tunnel vision and the boat videos were far better imo

I'm pretty sure Terry is doing rather well for himself financially, especially for the lifestyle he has chosen to live. Long established consultancy deals with ESP and Dynamite, plus 3 huge selling (in fishing terms) books. Not to mention the countless magazine articles etc he will have been paid for.
The bloke was an inspiration to myself and many others, In Pursuit changed everything for me. Im now on my third copy and routinely read it over the Christmas break to get fired up for the year ahead

I agree it wasnt the best, possibly because of lack of footage, or maybe becaise there wasnt that much of a story as he pretty much just turned up and had everyone elses pants down
But still far more entertaining than most other free videos. And not a single product was plugged.

The thing T.H does best is find the fish he wants to catch, in a place it feels safe to feed. Present a rig with a bait in a manner which doesn't scare the crap out of it. It's so easy. Except we all know it's not usually like that. He has the skill to make it look easy. It really isn't and luck is an existential construct.

Tel is a lovely down to earth bloke. He wants what we all want ........peace and quiet! He is a hunter and that's what makes the good anglers good. Ability to track a wild animal down

There is something that TH said in one of his films that struck a chord with me. He describes a scenario perfectly. It's something that I already knew and have always done, but I guess I didn't realise I was doing it.

We all have ours strengths and weaknesses when it comes to angling, but these are completely superseded when you can find them and fish in an effective way. The moment you cast out and you sit their worrying about placement, rigs, bait, line lay etc you have already lost the battle. The moment when you just know you're going to catch, the nonsense we have been fed about rigs and bait fall to the wayside. It's about finding that balance and being able to make an effective decision on the drop of a coin. Some can do it, and many others fret because they have had their minds filled with needless jargon/opinions/theories for decades.
Tel is an amazing story teller with almost zero technical content because he has nothing to peddle. He doesn't need to. Watercraft doesn't sell packets of hooks.

I've seen and read almost everything he's put out there, and yes he's been an inspirational angler and story teller for a good few decades now. This for me was not his best work, not sure if covid caused a lack of film footage or put him off his stride, but I suppose he's already set such a high bar he has to be forgiven for a "duff?" One

The film is made by Jack Reid (I think) so if anyone should be forgiven for a duff one it's him. I'd imagine Tel would be happy if he never did another one ever again.

he is so different to his modern day peers ... no social media pesence (as far as i know), doesnt push products (credit to ESP for that aswell), limited media exposure, no shouting and jumping up and down on each catch ... He is/will become an icon i think in carp angling world ..... He has a lovely little house where i think he lives alone and i vaguely remember an interview where he declared no interest in being in a relationship that would compromise his passion .... Ive never met him but do wonder if one day he will look back at that decision with a little regret.

Didn't cypography get into a bit of a dispute with the owner When they put there footage out there when they fished the place! I thought it was a pretty full waiting list, lovely fish from an interesting venue, the little Lake behind it had potential, wonder what it's like now
