a Chub Precision Lite Pod Base and bank sticks. The pod was great but the sticks either did not fit or were to small and would not tighten up - big pile of poo!

There was a post on here a few days ago about that very such problem .
I'm pleased I read it..looks like everyone has the same problem, that's why they are now being sold off at £13.
The worst thing I ever bought was an annual membership for Big Waters Angling Club......they have no fookin' fish except splegg roach.

Trakker Cayman bivvy.
Did half a dozen sessions and at least on thing tore, snapped or split on each occasion. Was pretty much unusable at that point so sent it back in a bin bag. Trakker sent a credit and bought a Tempest Air. Must have done around 200 nights in the Air and not a single problem, none whatsoever. Others rate the Cayman so seems I had a bad batch.

The Fox 'load shift' trolley - late 80s early 90s.
Broke - bolted - Broke - welded - Broke - bolted and welded - Broke - binned. All within a couple of months, and it wasn't cheap.
Haven't spent more than a tenner on anything Fox since.

Yeah if we're going way back then Silstar FX40 reels, Would last maybe 2-3 trips then you'd have to replace them. Cheap but crap. Still was only doing a paper round back then

Fox impact spod. First one broke after 3 casts. 2nd "improved" one lasted a little longer but had now also broken. The pin comes out. Also it doesn't open reliably and it's a pig to retrieve. Other than that it's awesome!

Nash Distance throwing stick. Shattered with the very first boilie I put through it. Thought it felt a bit flimsy.

the stainless steel boilie chopper from the Boilie chopper man at the carp shows.
it will last ok, as I will never use it. any more than 4 boilies and it sticks and you have to pull them all out by hand.
easy to use a knife and a chopping board.

Wychwood Solace bite alarms. Absolute tosh. Sent them back 3 times as batteries kept dying and I was told it was an issue with the batteries and not the alarm (despite having tried numerous brands of battery before returning them?) Worst thing was I was deciding between them and the fox alarms and decided to save money and went for the Wychwood, ended up costing me as ended up with the Fox alarms that I have been using ever since and would have saved myself effort and money had I not been tight to start with, valuable lessons learned for me there

Fox stratos reels!
20 packets of fox hooks turned out to be pretty bad when I realised I could turn the points just by looking at them.
Chub stainless bars and stage stands were also useless out of the box, more unwanted twisting than a visit to a chiropractor
My 1st centrepin and 1st Harrison rod were pretty bad purchases considering the expensive collections that followed

I ended up in a standoff with one of the bizarrely arrogant little tossers at Danson Angling years ago. when he said I was a mug for buying Shimano reels for my son as you get much more value for money with Fox. I'm actually parting with my money and he's still beefing about it. the reels I bought cost the same or more to buy now.

Reubens in 1oz divisions. I knew they made one. I had even seen Danson advertised. Same little **** swore blind thsrebwas no such thing. I even showed him a pic on my phone. Eventually I asked someone else to go look. They brought them back. Little **** said nothing. No apology, a laugh, nothing.
I might add. He's long gone, and whilst they ain't Mr Tumble friendly they are a lot better now.

I bought some diawa reels BR2050 or something like that they were called it was about 30 year's ago when the the Shimano areos were a bit too expensive at the time , one of the diawa,s bait runner failed in the shop as it was being shown to me but I still bought 3 of them 😣 line lay was horrendous one after about a year's use one would jump as you wound it in another the bail arm would close on a cast brilliant...I eventually got them returned and bought the shimanos, still in use today on my pike rods

Attx mik 1 dongles for my delkims god know what I was thinking they were hopeless and worked if they fancied it. The batteries drained in an hour and the slightest bit of shrubbery would render them useless in connecting to the reciever.
Fox spod. Lasted 5 casts. Fox baiting needle failed on the first pop up needle detached from the handle. I like their bivvies though.

Fox easy brolly, absolute rubbish design on the sliding storm poles, connections broke 3rd time out, brolly too low unless your well under 6ft, trying to take it down can be a problem, release catch keeps snagging.

Reuben Heaton digital scales (9000 series). Bought some to use when travelling light. They just ate batteries. Went back to dial scales, no battereis = nothing to worry about. And it's nice to watch the needle go round.

I've got the 7000 version and they're brilliant. Non of the watching a needle bounce all over the place and they're great with batteries. One of the best investments I've made in a long time.

Use a double size duvet jobby just heaven.
Light weight banksticks that seem in fashion, utter useless and not fit for purpose.

Several rods used for barbel fishing. Reel seats rarely parallel with the blank. Generally poorly constructed and rarely last the season.
Fox's quality control is the worst in the business and when I've emailed them I've not received an answer. Definitely a brand best avoided.

Hi.. Use the Solace myself with non issues...but the battery problem I resolved..The cases are a tad too soft and allow the on/off button to be pressed resulting in non power. If i can be bothered I just remove the battery at the end of the session.
Worst thing. probably my Quest mini pod. Too light..Too narrow with supplied bars even with 5500 reels. PITA to lock up thumbscrews so its secure.

Had a Flatliter MKI, what a steaming pile of plop that was. None of their field testers must have feet, just stumps. When you got in the bag you had to splay your feet out as you could never lay on you back with your feet pointing in the air. They must have made it out of the cheapest alloy ever as it just bent out of shape just looking at it. Took it to a fabricator to look at and the guy laughed at how poorly and cheaply it was made.
Sent it back and was was told there was nothing wrong with it, perfectly fine. Was going to go down the route of trading standards though I thought it wasn't worth the grief and just put it down to experience and to never buy fox ever again. Before all that had plenty of fox stuff that just fell apart or banksticks that left the pointy end in the ground.

Fox don't seem to be coming out of this too well. Hope my mini microns aren't as bad as some of the rest of their tackle. Never really bought much off Fox but the new alarms look good and served a purpose.
second entry - NASH spot on marker float. Great design with internal connection but lead assembly is the perfect length to hit the top of the float.
First use got 3 casts with it and the top got smashed off - thought oh well bad luck and bought another only for the exact same thing to happen

I must have been lucky with some of my purchases, I have two fox rucksacks, a supa brolly and a tfg force 8 bivvy and they have had a long life with no problems at all.

Mine certainly aren't, fitted with 16mm Ally poles as I think every make of Bivvy I've had for a long time have been fitted with, seems to be the benchmark size to use.

Standout items of sh1te for me are:
1) A fox holdall. The Zips drove me up the wall, a constant battle to get in and out. Absolute garbage.
2) A Diem net from the Brentwood show and that fella Surgay The spreader insert holes were offset at weird angles. Getting it changed was an interesting challenge that became a point of principle, and I guess I was more resolute than he was! (lessons learned!)

Wychwood banksticks and buzzbars. Couldn't be locked in place. Black paint chipped off if you so much as looked at it. Utterly useless

JRC X-Lite bivvy. Loved it until I used it fir the first time and one of the poles snapped.

On reflection, I'm going to change my worse buys ever and insert the Spomb.
As great as the Spomb is for delivering large amounts of bait, I'm going to say that I've had it with them. From falling apart, to the whispy spring they put in them, they are s hite on a stick.
Not spombs fault this time around, I'm now on number 9 spomb this season and have lost it due to me attaching it to wire trace setup for my deeper and the catch un did itself which I made sure was 100% shut and locked, and it opened and resulted in me loosing yet another spomb. Just good luck it wasn't my new deeper chirp+.

I'll add the *'shimano'* trench barrow to the list. Frame all good, but the wheel assembly and bearings are utter shyte. It lasted 4 trips before the wheels collapsed, had to carry gear back to my van 500yds away. Spent near £190 on a re-design and getting it all fabricated. Not finished yet, waiting for the new axle to be turned then anodised. Hoping it will be worth it ..

Spods just p iss me off. It's too long a process as you've got to sod about making sure.you leave it long enough on the money for it to deliver it's payload.
As much as I detest the snappy problems, spombs are heads and shoulders above the spod. Like they say, to each their own, so I'm not knocking

Agree mate love the one handed filling up, don't use anything else and personally don't like the spider spods either because of that

You can fill the spider spomb with one hand and its easier to close,it casts better and is alot easier to retrieve.

I only used the spider thing for one trip, found the dot spod better personally. I might try the bigger one tho, it'll be better than the large spomb at least

I agree with duggs I personally prefer the dot spod found it a lot better (I have both) the spyder stays at home now only time I'll use it again is if I lose my dot spod

What are you using with them ? 8oz+ leads? I have used them with 5oz leads frequently since they were released & NEVER lost a lead on the retrieve.

Another vote for the fox stratos baitrunners why fox never did a recall on them I'll never no lasted me about 13 months then packed up.
They did, but only for the shops. I was doing some work in one of the shops when the fax from Fox came through asking the shops to pull the off the shelves & return for a credit note. This would have been around 2007ish from memory

Delkim txi d 2 of them stopped working in the rain now one of the buttons stuck cant switch it off. Wish I had kept my fox alarms

Had mine since the day they came out not a problem at all, neither have a lot of people but I'm sure this thread will now turn into a delkim bashing thread, if you have them and don't like them that much sell them and buy your fox ones back pretty simple. Although they have been a few people having the same problem with the fox rx+ aswell

I used to fish with a guy that made rain covers for his alarms out of coke bottles cut in half with a section cut out in the middle so they slid over the rod. Bit of leadcore with the lead stripped out attached the bottle to his buzzbars so when he lifted into a fish they would pop off and then hang down as to not fly away. Made me laugh inside every time I visited his swim. Needless to say he wasn't a tackle tart.

Mine have canopies fitted in the rain, made from coffee tin lids with terry clips rivetted to the underside, these clip over the rods. to be fair the Delkims are 25 years old!

Currently on the bank in very heavy rain and strong wind, got my txi-ds in front of me on my pod no false bleeps and still fine as they have been since the day they came out. The rain hasn't bothered them at all and have had no problems with them and I go twice a month all year for 48/72hrs in all weathers they are perfectly fine still 👍

I have never had problems with Delkims had the original in 1986 and all the models just got the new ones I do miss the switch not keen on the button

Ultimate Mini Baitcruiser baitboat(as sold in Holland in early 2000's), is the same model as the Waverunner Atom Baitboat.
Utter disaster.
Would never sail in a straight line, if you had an electronic problem than you had the screw the boat open, but screws could break, boat leaking etc,.
The plastic was brittle when it was cold, so the carrying strap broke off when I lifted boat out of the water.
I hope for the current Waverunner Atom user that they improved the boat during the years, for me it was the worse thing I even bought for fishing.

Most recently... a Trakker Sanctuary Oval Crib - when it got delivered, I thought a mistake had been made and I'd been sent an assembled chest of drawers... takes up half the boot space in my car. It does however do a very good job once set-up, but is utterly impractical to transport unless of course you have a van and always use a barrow. I used it twice and now it sits in the garage... make me an offer if you want it, collection only (North Essex). Cost me £120 new I bought it during the first lockdown, so my bad, should have waited until Johnson Ross was back open and would have got something else had I seen the size of it

I didn't bother with the bag that it came with. I folded up the walls put this inside the foam mat and then folded that in half, not the way you do to get it into the bag but the other way, I then secured it all with a bungee strap. Lot more compact, (square shaped instead of rectangle) and barrow friendly.....

The big one that stands out for me was the Shimanoa XTB & XTC reels .....the most over rated reels ive ever used. I thought the XTC must be an improvement, but they were worse. Stupid double drag syetem, floppy handles, no drag clicker ... Not bought a shimano pit reel since.
Oh and listening to people who advised and insisted that walking/hiking boots are warm enough in winter
