myself i cnnot comment on what was, but i do see a common trend where its carp or nothing else.
ive fished for as long as i can remember, i moved into carp fishing and ive had some lovely fish up to 32lb. my wife gave birth last year to my beautiful twin girls, ive been fishing twice in 12 months. the carp gear has dust on. the fishing i wanted was stick float, fiberglass rod and a small reel, mixed bag hoping for a big roach/perch to top the day off. i bet 50% of the anglers i know couldnt plum the depth or shot a float, and thats scary....

remember one of the biggest edges in rolling your own is playing with boiling times and the shape of the finished bait.

before i out my rods away when me had our twins i cooked my baits at different times for my mixes. 1kg for 1min 1kg for 1:30 and a kilo at 2mins. this gives variety whilst keeping them on the same bait.
for quick sessions i made a mix, gunned them into sausages and boiled them like that. then id break off what i needed and fed that. different shapes give a massive edge in my opinion.
even better just using the paste, i rolled 16mm balls of paste and froze them, id keep them in a cool bag to keep them hard and feed those on my margin spot.

its not always the ingredients that make a bait what it is, color, texture, softness shape can give you so much more than including expensive additives.

10% soya will sort it. as below, drop 10% lamlac.
i had the exact same issue with a test mix. dropped the lamlac down and it was perfect.

had a good walk around last night, super mature, and gin clear water.
only thing thats making me hesitant is how easy it would be to poach, once someone got info of the lake they could quite easily do it.
going to have a chat with the owner this afternoon see what options i'd have in terms of fencing.
fingers crossed all goes well and we can come to an arrangement.
