No link, it was an email sent to me by name. I presume they are being sent to the customers they have on file.

Just had a look at what they are offering, max £50 a head or receiver so not that good versus flogging them yourself.

I don't know if it's just me but the new d alarms just don't sound like a Delkim. My old man has a set, they've been reliable (except a battery drain on the receiver, which was replaced by the shop easily enough) but they don't sound quite right to my ear.

I think the Tone setting wheel on the older versions was more sensitive. e.g you could get exactly the tone you wanted where with the newer digital adjustment, there is a slight compromise.
Don't want to turn this into an 'older vs newer' thread, but the dial adjustment is way too stiff on the new ones.
I'd be interested to pick up one manufactured recently.

I got the email last Friday. I was a bit surprised as I haven't had my TXI+,s for ages, having sold them years ago.

Their database must be quite extensive, and as such could result in a massive financial outlay if everyone took them up on the offer. Plus what would they do with a massive mountain of old kit as the 2nd hand prices would plummet

My guess is they want them off the market. Either cannibalise them for parts or crush them.

Once the research and development has been covered I would've thought the actual cost of producing an alarm would amount to much.
My guess and it's only a guess is that by bypassing the tackle shops this scheme is a very good earner so much so, they can simply afford to destroy and bin the old kit.

I understand some early model Delkims from around 1994/5 are still around and working, but parts for any failures needing repair are not. I think it was around 5 or 6 years ago (maybe more) they stopped guaranteeing repairs on older out of warranty alarms.

While the chances of a fault due to parts wearing out (electronically) are low, some will happen, so taking old models out of use for replacement to loyal customers makes sense.

Even the TXi's had issues when radio frequencies were changed on newer versions, so a mix of batches was difficult.

Spot on that is..

I was looking for a fourth Txi plus ,as a spare to my other much loved three ,Txi..
When it turned up ,brandnew ,it wouldn't pair with the original reciever, and meant I had to send the whole lot to Delkim to make them 'marry' up..

I got the original email last Friday which had a personal greeting using my first name.

Just had another one today which was a general ‘Dear Angler' type one.

They are obviously pushing hard on this deal and as I said previously must have quite an extensive database, first targeting individuals and then a general scattergun approach.

As I said earlier it must be a good earner for them, they knock £50 off and sell direct to the public so cutting out the middle men and tackle shops mark ups.
The old units will be destroyed to keep them out of circulation.

My mate has the original TXI's, they must be 25 years old easy. I personally believe that there's still loads of original TXI's and Pluses still about doing the business which is why they are not upgrading. Basically the early Delks are like VW Beetles they have been about for ages and Delkim are generally speaking, probably a victim of their own success for making a product that lasts.

I have an original set of txi's and rx2004 but have upgraded to the txid's about a year ago .I had intended to sell my original txi's after about a year of using the new ones just to make sure they were reliable . Both sets have been faultless but I can't bring myself to sell the older ones as I think i'd regret it . I think you'd probably get more selling second hand .

I agree, and with people selling Delks that in some cases are over ten years old you can understand why they want to thin out that second hand stock as its probably depressing their sales of new D's.

I had a look at that email as I got it and they are giving you £50 a head from what I can see in part ex against a new set of three for £550. You'd probably get more than this on marketplace or flea bay for a reasonable set.

Post edit: I actually regret selling my Pluses which were immaculate at ten years old and I must admit I could be tempted to buy another set of those even though I have a set of NTXR's and the D's, purely for sentimental reasons.

I was actually talking to a mate on the lake this week and like me he's got the new Delkims, but prefers his older TXi's.

In his case it is the tones work better for him.

My ST's I still own, although they have been moved permanently into my pike gear so I'm not swapping kit around between the 2.

I can't comment on battery life between old and new alarms, although the Delkim receiver has had a battery change after 6months, about the same time as the Att receiver I had on the ST's.

Screams of desperation from Delkim...

Let's be honest... The TXI'ds are pretty rubbish...
The update is a failure.. The new features are a failure.. the new D model is a failure.

So.. Delkim will try to seduce you with 'special' offer price reductions as they are losing sales...

Until they admit they have messed up and update them to make them user friendly and usable I will not even consider getting another set...

I wouldn't say that. It's probably more the case to keep selling there alarms they had to place larger component orders to secure stock so they could carry on manufacturing.

Nothing wrong with discounting it's not the first time they've done it.

The new alarms are nearly 5 years old so more likely they are preparing to bring out a new alarm.

It's probably a good deal if someone has the old alarms as the components used are no longer available and should they fail they are just fit for the bin.

According to companies house they look in pretty good financial shape.

Personally I think they're brilliant. One touch mute function that's used the most the rest is just to suit conditions. Press and hold a button to adjust sensitivity and turn a wheel to adjust beep speed.

What more do you need from an alarm. 4 years old now and never had a single issue. Best customer service by a mile.

Receiver is far better than the previous model. The alarms are More compact and just as reliable if not better, can't see why people think they're worse.

Ive recently got a set of “d's” as my Nevilles kept going wrong. Cant see what all the problems are - once set up (which took about 10 mins for all 3) I (or sometimes a fish) pull the line, alarm goes beep. Actually, they don't as I have the heads on silent, so the remote goes beep at the same tone as the head would. They don't go beep when the line isn't being pulled. That's all we want isn't it?

Just speaking from some 20 years plus experience here in the design and manufacture of all types of products that use semiconductors {chips / the black things with shiny legs), I work in the semiconductor industry over the last 2 years 52 week component leadtimes have been the norm.

So customers have had to purchase more just to secure stock and guarantee they can keep making).

Often having to go via brokers pay over the odds, sometimes you get counterfeit stock - this has caused companies cash flow challenges.

This is probably why delkim are doing all they can to get their stock levels down be it discounting or signing up more tackle shops.

Like I said their financial figures they don't lie.

So at least this time us consumers get the opportunity to benefit.

Because they're the best on the market. Reliable and great customer service. You can get a set for £140 but if they break most of the time you've got nothing to fall back on.

No different with cars they all do the same thing but if moneys no issue I know what I'd be driving and it's not what I've got now.

Very doubtful a lot of the semis like the MCU are likely to have been EOLd (end of life) years ago.

They are likely to have leaded components which were phased out in 2011, due to RoHS directive as we all know lead is harmful.. And their is the REACH directive which phases out certain materials year over year

Most semis have a typical life of about 10 years, automotive have to guarantee up to 15 years.

By delkim getting the old products back also assures they are disposed of correctly something called the WEEE directive. They are probably collecting some browny points in doing so.

A friend in the industry told me that the Delkim patent is due to expire soon and the assumption is that there will be lots of cheaper copies from other manufacturers following that just as happened when the roller wheel patent expired and we got £20 Micron M's.

Not sure if this offer is a last hurrah from Delkim/ them building up parts to transition to a service business for their previous customers?

Patents not sure about that, if you google ‘Derek Romang patents' you'll see the majority of them had expired.

I bought my txis from Leslie's of Luton in 1999 and the heads were £137.99 each back then.

So in real terms the price has gone down not increased.

I don't think Delkim would use second hand parts to do repairs. My guess is the opposite, they want to rid the market of old Delkim kit and all of those old alarms will be broken down and disposed of.

I think a presentation set at £499 with 3 alarms and a receiver including snag ears (costing £42 normally) suggests exactly that.

Delkim are now competing with the Nash R4 rather than the Fox RX....

I received the email but 5- for each alarm isn't that good especially because I'm Still using my original TXI,s !! I bought the newer txi plus when you were released and loved them very reliable as the previous TXIs I then sold my txi plus and bought the fox alarms, there ok alarms, good features drop back indicator etc but there build quality is shocking Leeda alarms from Argos are made better , I then sold them for the new txi d alarms build quality is great as with all Delkim alarms , But I just don't like them!! I can't get the sensitivity right as with other txi and they just don't sound the same , also I don't like the size of the alarm and hate the looks of it looks so plain they should have made the original txi looks with newer insides , Im very tempted to put the txi plus insides into a original txi case and see what happens might be a match made in heaven

Oh yes.
A very big long winded contract with Delkim to sell their alarms.

It was worth it for shops, may have been a pain in the rear, but having Fox, Delkim and Gardner gave you a big edge in an area.

Funny thing is you didn't need a Fox account to be able to sell Fox alarms, yet Gardner and Delkim you did need a manufacturers account.
The number of alarms I had to return through Leeda to Fox for replacement. I had to reference my purchases of shop stock as dependant on how quickly I needed stock or on what day I needed to order I would order some from Fox, some from Leeda.
You ordered Leeda on Monday, it would arrive Wednesday. Fox order was stock, could be ordered anytime, but would take a week, it also had to be a minimum order.

Delkim was a quick delivery, usually 3 days. I can't remember if there was a minimum order or not.

I've posted the Delkim FB link as I think the addition with the trade-in is the snag bars free.

Personally, and this is just me, my alarms stay on my buzzer bars unless I take them off to go on single sticks, so any presentation box is not required. The receiver lives in the original box until I use it.

As for the customer service of Delkim, this is simply what all companies should aspire to. Perfection!
Send an alarm in for repair, you get a phone call within a very short time of arrival, with cost of repair. Make the payment, and the alarm is repaired and returned usually within 5days of being posted by me. The longest I ever had to wait was 7 days.

I'm not sponsored by Delkim, but when you get good service you tend to be loyal to a company.

Considering the repairs done on my alarms was my fault, leaving a battery in one, and breaking a lead on a battery connector, there must be a lot of heavy handed or stupid users like myself then...

I would be very surprised if anyone on here has used Delkims
in PROPER TROPICAL DAYS ON END WEATHER for any where near the amount of hours I have as
for years and years I fished 2 to 3 French trips a year some lasting a month being single and at the time in a very well paid job with 6 weeks holiday plus leu days a year

I fished where I had rain torrential for a week had to move my shelter 3 times as the lake kept coming up it was in big valley and water was pouring down from the surrounding hills lost count of the biblical storms
AND IN ALL THE YEARS I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD A SECONDS PROBLEM WITH MY 4 DELKS
THE MOSTADJUSTABLE BEST ALARM MONEY CAN BUY
PROVIDED YOU HAVE MORE THAT 2 BRAIN CELLS AND LEARN HOW TO ADJUST FOR ANY CONDITION

People are just so tribal when it comes to this sort of thing. Wether its Delkim/Fox Daiwa/Shimano Korda/Nash Apple/Samsung etc etc the list goes on. People will slag off what they haven't got to affirm and validate their own selection of a product. I dare say a large percentage of those who slag delkim have never had a set, or like you say, used them in such conditions. Bias fueled opinions, take em with a pinch of salt.

My Delkims were submerged after a serious storm in Suffolk, where the river Gipping and Barham Pits broke the bank.
I had to move my bivvy up the bank and retrieve my rods, reels and buzzers from underwater.

4 anglers had to be rescued by the RAF Coastguard helicopter on the river bank.

When I got home, just put the Delks in the airing cupboard, dried them out, changed the batteries and they were fine.

I've always used OG Delks, never a problem in all weathers.

Therefore, I bought some more when I decided it was time to get back into carp fishing. Also rescued two Tx2000 transmitter units and an Rx2000 reciever from retirement in someones tackle collection.
Alarms 25+ years old, transmitters and reciever 19 years old. Working perfectly.

Based on past experience with the OG Delks, I have no doubt they'll continue to work no matter what. Unlike the newer ones, of which I've heard too many stories about rain.

And the Ds look gash

Had a set of txi from Leslie's of Luton that went “missing” from my loft in Pembrokeshire.

IMHO great alarms and probably wouldn't have traded them in as my fishing is really sporadic so they would have been hardly used.

Seems like a good deal though.

Simple solution to the water issues people had with delks, stop putting them in a rubber case that holds moisture. Fabric case which absorbs moisture from the alarms are better. It's pretty obvious yet no one seemed to realise it.

Got 6 OG txi alarms. All work fine apart from things of my own doing like being heavy handed when changing a battery or something. Long will they continue to live as well.

Whilst sorting a fish out the other night I accidentally kicked my bank stick out of the ground and in to the water (and didn't notice) . Went to recast and couldn't see my alar, then pulled the bank stick and new delkim out of the water. After 5 days drying out it seems to be working perfectly. If it survives total submersion for 5 minutes or so then I'll be dead impressed, so far so good.

I was fishing in France when the Typhoon came thru it picked up my 4 rods on a rod pod and dumped the lot in 16 feet of water in the lake
took well over an hour to retrieve it all

I took the batteries out of the 4 TXI`s dried them with a towel and was back fishing with them in an hour

I agree that the rubber cases were not a great idea and never used them. TXI+ still going strong and never an issue. Wouldn't surprise me if many of those who had issues put wet alarms into a rubber case.

ATTS have a complete rubber case. Never any problems whatsoever with moisture. The only top end alarms that constantly suffer from moisture problems are Delkim.

What I am about to say is going to upset some of you. Get a tissue and dry your eyes in advance. I don't mean to upset you, it's just the truth.

Carp anglers, they are a funny old breed. They buy a set of alarms, always have the same alarms.... And those alarms are the BEST, better than ALL the rest, go on Tina.

New age Delkim's are not all that. Yes, you might have been lucky and got a set that did not let in water. But to many do, far to many. To a point they can barely be used in the rain. So get over your pre programmed “my buzzers are the best” cos the media told me so.... And deal with the fact that they are not. I borrowed some once when I left mine at home. It rained, and two out of the four did not work. The reed things detecting sensitivity on two were junk as well. I've seen soooooooo many poor anglers on the bank literally ruined by Delkim in harsh weather. So many. All coincidence? Of course it is not. Many big pits you might have white capped waves constantly throwing water over your alarms. Try using Delkim. You'll learn. Fast.

I have zero affiliation with any tackle company. Never have had with Fox. Their alarms are by far the best. DXR, LXR.... Bombproof. I purchased some of the new Mini Micron X with the receiver. They played up a bit, just one. I outed them straight away, sold the 3 good ones dirt cheap to a friend. Got NTXR instead. It could have easily been RX. I just got a great deal on 4 brand new NXTR from a Fox consultant who had to move over to RX. Fox alarms do not let in water. The indication system itself does not deteriorate like Delkims do with that reed thing or whatever it is. Load of crap. Bring out a bombproof roller alarm that does not let in water. I'll buy them. Until then, you lot can all keep ‘em.

Please don't cry. I am a good person honestly.

There cant be any denying a lot of people have had problems with Delkims
and water ingress as after spending out shed loads of money on a set they are very vocal about it ! and I cant blame them

but it does not stop the many thousands myself included that havent had a seconds problems and fished in biblical storms for many many years

and I have owned and used most alarms starting with the Heron Optonics fox Nash steve neville ATTS JRC Prologic to name a few

currently I still own and have used from time to time my 4 TXIs . 3 Nash R1s a pair of JRC radar CX and 3 Prologic BAT3 PLUS
all brilliant alarms but my go to is the Delkim unless fishing a pod on the river where takes can be so violent it sets the other alarm off
I have had nothing but 100% reliability in all the years I have used my delkims !

the ONLY problem I have ever had with an alarm was using poxy ATTS alarms
fishing a very big fish rock hard water in France for a fortnight and second week woke up to the baitrunner clicking away the braid had gone down the side of the roller and the fish was the other side of the lake past the island felt like a big un until it swam round the island I drove to Decathlon and bought 3 cheap Mitchell alarms to finish the trip sold them and the ATTS when I got home

Strangely enough, when I worked in a tackle shop we had very few Delkims returned. In most cases it was user error rather than tackle fault.

If the customer was still convinced the alarm was at fault, whether it was or not, I would return it to Delkim, who would replace/repair within a week.

Fox alarms though, I regularly had returned with failures, which was a real pain in the backside as we had two order systems, direct from Fox, and from Leeda, and I would have to return the alarm back to the correct supplier we got it from. Hours of checking serial numbers and orders...

I never had any Gardner TLB's returned.

The other problem was Fox's regular 'updating' models. Within 2 years a model could be obsolete, so we could have alarms we couldn't sell as they were out of date, yet couldn't return them for the latest model.

In terms of Delkim reliability I've mentioned my ST's being submerged and working after.
My TXI d's have been out in some pretty wet conditions, storms so heavy that despite the sensitivity being turned down, so many raindrops hitting the line that they bleep during the storm, but are fine after its stopped, working properly.

Had the new ones years and they're fantastic. 2 years on a big wind swept pit in all conditions. Even lost my Bivvy a few times it gets that bad. And still zero issues with the delkims.

Like any product there's always an element of risk of failure. But I'd always go with a brand I can talk direct to and have the best service. And delkim tops that by a county mile

But, but, but, but, but, but....... But they let in water. 😂

I never knew you once worked in a tackle shop Nick. I am quite certain that you have never once mentioned that before. 😊

In like forever, I've never once needed customer service ever, because Fox alarms are super reliable and never let in water. They cannot, they are resin encapsulated. It's fairly simple you know.

It's okay, I understand that this is a big thing to accept. I understand that for some people it's a step too far. We'll get there eventually.

Your Delkims are no good I'm afraid xx

Two tackle shops over 20+ years: Viscount Tackle in Ipswich from 1995-2000 when I was sorting out my life after splitting with my first Mrs and saving up to do a degree at college as a mature student and then Gladwells at Copdock Mill from 2016 to 2018 along with my catering agency work.

I beg to differ, the Delkims are very good, from their own original ST's to the current TXI d's, and with good customer service, and mine haven't let in water, in pouring rain, nor when submerged.

As for Fox, your choice, but one heck of a lot of faulty alarms returned by customers, I've had sets that didn't even make it out of the shop door because they didn't work from brand new. It became a point to have the customer open the plastic packing to test them there were that many.

I hope you never have need of Fox customer service for alarms.

So sad you had to turn it into a peeing contest, sorry, Fox vs Delkim.

Quote... So sad you had to turn it into a peeing contest, sorry, Fox vs Delkim.

Jeez, lighten up. It was light hearted Nick. A peeing contest? Is that what you really believe that I'm trying to have a ‘peeing' contest with you? I've put laughing emojis and xx's in every post I've written.

I only said Delkims let in water. Out of all of the well known alarms over the last 25 years, they are well known for it. They always have been. Fox are not. Neville's are not. ATTS are not. Nash are not. Wolf are not. Only Delkim are well known for it. I've even seen people with little umbrellas clipped on. Only on Delkims.😂 I'd honestly never heard of Fox alarms being affected and my close mates own two of the largest tackle shops in the land. They are resin encapsulated, which is what makes them nigh on unserviceable I'd imagine. It's quite simple if you have half a clue and really think about it. I made the joke comment about the shop because you always use these comments to justify things. All the time. Like it means anything at all. Like Rod Hutchinson kit these days is relevant. But rest assured if they made alarms, I have no doubt you'd be using them and arguing they are the best. Which is kind of my case in point. Go have a look at what all the best anglers use out of choice Nick. It's never Delkims. They are not reliable enough. If they were, I'd have zero problem using them either as I already said.

I understand that you fellas will fight to the death to defend your Delkims. That just makes it even funnier. I'm not insulting your missus, only your alarms 😂

The reeds deteriorate. Just breeze over that. They let in water. It's a well known fact. They even sell different snag backs that are meant to make them more waterproof. Loads of people love them. Korda promote them. It's like bait. It's so tribal. To the point it makes no sense. People will just argue.

I knew that before I wrote the first post. Which is why I asked you to get a tissue first 😂 Just lighten up a bit. Everything does not always have to be so deadly serious. It's not life or death. They are some alarms 😂

Best know I'm in the Autistic Spectrum, everything is literal. It wasn't light hearted, you made it serious.
You got insulting, you've proved with that that your point is worthless.

I use Rod Hutchinson tackle yeah, but you obviously don't know me well enough, because if you took the trouble, you'd notice I'd still recommend other tackle if there is something better. I will still say if a RH item doesn't work, as I did on a thread about catapults.

You became insulting, and you try to justify it, sorry, no way, you showed how ignorant you are.

Yes I know Nick, that's why I have never once interacted with you before. Not ever. Because it normally ends like this. It was a mistake me commenting on this. You comment on everything, the truth, you're always normally talking absolute waffle to some poor kid. But if anyone speaks the opposite opinion you get angry.

I know other people who are autistic. None of them act the incredibly hostile way you and Mozzi do online.

Your condition does not give the right to make other people sad Nick. I am insulting, I am ignorant, I am this, I am that. Also what I say is worthless apparently. Nick, you get in an argument most days and would seem to thrive on it and love it. But then, like now, you bring up your mental health issues.

Just calm down a bit Nick. It's not always someone else's fault. Laughing emojis and kisses they dictate someone is playing. I am telling you that I am joking. You are telling me that you know better and I'm lying.

Are you wanting me to bite at you? Why? I'm not going too. But you need to calm yourself down.

Delkim let in water. Deal with it.

Finally someone speaks up. Well said Mark. Nick is by far the most hostile regular poster on the forum, yet somehow gets off scott free.

All that genuinely interesting knowledge that has been banned from the forum over the last few years and we get stuck with the same Tim Paisley or Nazeing Meads stories on repeat and a hissy fit every time somebody disagrees with him.

I am not looking to dig Nick out. Or to get others to dig him out. Unfortunately he has argued with, or upset most all by himself.

But both him and the other Nick need to realise something.

When me and Nick were kids, people with MH issues were kept away from society. That was wrong and needed changing. It has now changed. But the two Nicks need to understand that they are like ambassadors for people who suffer the same or similar conditions via the internet. But going round constantly upsetting everybody, then using MH as the reason.... That does not make them good ambassadors. That has the very opposite effect.

Both are smart people really. They will both understand what is written above if they read it calmly, and just look at themselves just a little bit.

The funny thing is you tell me that over 30years experience of using a product from a manufacturer without the apparent issues you mention I'm wrong. Then you turn it personal, I didn't, yet I point that out you get insulting, and I become the one in the wrong.
If you have an valid point, you debate the item, not attack the person, as you did
Yet once again, it turned into a peeing competition because I dare to answer back with experience and valid points rather than using hearsay or trying to intimidate. I get aggressive when people start having a go at or try to intimidate me.

As for why I use past experience, references to Nazeing, to Earith or Taverham, maybe its because due to publicity with occasional exceptions I can't reference or name my current water, maybe because its relevant.

Now my experience with Delkim, ST's with Att dongles and with the TXI D's is that they are still working despite my ST's being submerged, my TXI's being out in some pretty severe storms this year, no water ingress, no leaks, no faults.

I'm chilled, I'm cool, I have more important things to worry about, like whether I'll get a hip replacement this year, whether I'll be able to carry on fishing, can get rid of my crutches.

Okay, I'm going to end this now Nick. It's only 07:40 in Brazil and I'm on holiday. I do not get much time off. I'm off to enjoy my day. I made a big mistake. One which I will never make again. Not ever. You're not listening to a single word that anybody says to you, apart from what you want to hear. And now I am also intimidating you as well? I've heard the lakes names so many times from you it's burned into my brain now Nick. You do not need to repeat them again honestly. They are clearly like a badge of honor for you. As was working in some tackle shop.

I hope that you get your hip operation. Not sure what that has to do with what we are speaking about. Maybe they could operate on some Delkim's at the same time and make them waterproof (joke). I saw you caught your first ever 30lb common the other day, congratulations Nick.

I don't have a valid point at all Nick, I don't want to debate with you. I don't need to debate with you. I will just concede to you that I am an idiot. And walk away and go off and enjoy my day.

I truly hope that you enjoy yours too Nick.

and we retrieved them took the battery's out used a towel to dry them battery's back and all 4 perfect back fishing an hour later perfection

IMHO Delkin are the most adjustable perfect alarms made but in truth these days all alarms are very good and will do the job needed

Trying to decide between Delkims and Nash R3s. I feel like the R3s would be simpler (just turn them on rather than messing about with the settings) and produce less false bleeps? But then Delkim seem to have better after sale support?

You don't get false bleeps if set up correct to suit the conditions. I fished 15-17mph winds / rain weekend and didn't have one. But I used heavy bobbins and tight lines at distance.

Won't go wrong with either. Both go beep when there's a fish on. R3s are simpler but as mentioned Nash after sales is as good as tits on a fish.

A good friend has had R3s for years without issue until late 1 took on water. Dried out and works fine again now.

I think ND are bringing out some new ones that could be worth the wait.

They have bite prediction tech, so will boil their new kettle 5 mins before a take is due, and will run a lovely hot bath as soon as their landing net has a fish in it. So literally a hot cup of tea and bath after a catch, it can also be paired to JustEat in some areas so a takeaway can be automatically ordered once the run develops.

Waterproof wise, they use met office tech, in hot temperatures they mist themselves and the rollers with chilled water, and the additional bivvy torch has this function. In lower temperatures the bivvy lite becomes a powerful and safe log burner. In the rain they really come into their own - they send you a text straight away that can set from ‘I'm a bit damp' to ‘Christ its stair rods out here' on the app you simply open Then select the degree of waterproofness you need.

Other handy features are ‘having a dump' they will mute themselves and grip the rod tighter until you press dump done on the app. Yes, it's open for misuse and I know in field testing some of the guys went down the local Toby - but to be fair most of the takes were still landed.

Recasting is easy with the laser beam spotter leds that via satalite will show you the exact spot you caught from. It has some other useful features that I'm surprised nobody else has done - via the app you can stop all functions (including bath) by pushing the its a bream button for 10 secs - the alarm will then vibrate until the bream is off, this can also be used for single figure tench.

The basic 3 rod set should retail for £299.99 and the extras like the kettle, bath and mister light range from only £29.99.

I can't mate or I will lose my sponsorship - currently have their new bivvy on test, fully prefab, en suite and moved via drone on your phone app to any UK or European lake, if swim is taken it buckets it and sends you alert when free.

As soon as I'm allowed to I will share the new alarms, but think the MkII may be shortly behind, so maybe I could wait and share link for these?

I've seen these but you forgot to mention there best feature, they are powered by fermented cheese with five grams powering an alarm for a minimum of ten years constant use. Believe the drone uses the same technology with ten grams giving a thousand miles of range.

We're all on the spectrum, that's why it's a spectrum. Some people just use it as an excuse/sympathy vote when they are losing an argument - which is a bit sh*t tbh.

I often see people complaining about Delkims giving false bites etc I always scratch my head ?as Its sooo easy to adjust them to completely eliminate this ?
90% of the time on lakes my settings stay the same and always perfect

in the day I switch to the bright leds
the sensitivity/range switch is always to the left + then sensitivity dial is set to 3 and rarely needs moving maybe just up or down a touch the only other times is when its really heavy rain the switch gets put over to the right- setting and dial adjusted until the rain no longer effects it but this is only in real extreme situations

the only other thing I ALWAYS do is turn the led brightness down at night
so simple to do hold the button in till you hear 4 bleeps this will turn on the night marker lights and set the leds to low so wont blind you in the night

then in the day simply hold the button in and till it bleeps twice this turns off the night markers and switches the leds to high so you can see them in the sunlight
PERFECTION
I have been using them like this 100% trouble free since they came out
hopefully this may help you if your having problems give it a try

I have posted about this before.

I had a set of 4 original Delks that I used with the original plug in transmitters & remote (TX 2000?) - these worked perfectly for 29yrs until they started to give up the ghost.

I bought a new set TXI-Ds last year. Out of four alarms and one remote I have had to return three alarms inc one twice and the remote twice as well. Every time Delkim has replaced the item with a brand new one and a free gift, like a mug to say sorry. There is no doubt that their customer service is second to none. Although every return I have made by Special Delivery leaves me out of pocket.......

I have had various faults - batteries draining, lights on all the time or not at all, constant beeping. There seems to be no particular reason for the faults, it's not happened after they have had a soaking and when they do get wet I usually bring them indoors after a session to dry out completely.

I am generally not too heavy handed with kit although they get used a fair bit - 2 nights a week year round. The fact that my original Delks lasted for 29yrs shows I know how to look after things!

In my opinion the TXI-Ds are overcomplicated and I defiantly miss a simple on/off switch. I'm forever looking at the instructions to remember how to mute them etc.

I still believe that the Delkim is the best alarm on the market - the sensitivity and way you can eliminate false beeps is unrivalled. But do I have faith that these alarms will last in the long term? Alas I don't. They have a three year warranty and to be honest when that expires I will probably get rid of them.

As a side note I have a couple of matchbox sized Wychwood alarms that cost about £15 each - apart from the fact they don't have a remote they are fantastic. latching light, sensitivity and volume adjustability. What else is really needed?

How did you set them up for a big storm abroad Gerry? I used to turn mine off in the end and watch the tips, initially I'd set the sensitivity as low as it could go switch them over to the minus setting loaded springers on the braid to pull them tight and they'd still play a tune like Jimi Hendrix with a slide playing on acid.

I had a few sets of Delks over the years as well as many other brands, one set I had bout 2000/2001 ish they were spot on and never had water issues the other set were a nightmare which I had around 2009 the majority of the heads would stop working after a big storm or persistent rain, they'd work again once dried out at home but not ideal when your out on the bank mid session with 2 out of 3 or 4 alarm heads dead, the functions and settings were a doddle most of the time(except in a big French thunder storm)

It's each to their own but I do prefer Fox alarms which I had pre and post Delkim phase, I have noticed a lot of the new model TXI D's up for sale on selling sites and pretty cheap as well at £200 for some sets, it seems there is still either a love hate relationship with Delkim alarms among anglers but I do wonder if there is a bigger issue with the new ones as there seems to be a lot of second hand sets up for sale already and quite cheap at that.

Should of kept my Ace alarms now they were decent

Fact is all Fox alarms from the NXR/NTXR onwards look like p** - I don't care about how watersealed they are, neither do I care how easy it is to switch on and off / change the colour of the LEDs / use on a frozen lake in winter / submerge on Lake Superior - they look like a kids Tonka Toy collection glued together with pritt stick - on this basis alone Delkims are the superior product - the end

I had a set of NTXr alarms for four years and they never missed a beat, got up Xmas morning to unpack some pressies only to find my son had brought me a set of Delkim TXI-D alarms, I swore that I would never use Delkim alarms again but as they where brought for me I had to bite the bullet and use them, I passed my NTXr alarms to my grandson l, though I have not had any problems with the Delks I just don't like them, they are just to much of a gadget and I still have no idea how to use the various settings so I just use the volume and sensitivity buttons, what I would give to go back to Fox

How very dare you Sir. As a lover of mouse coffins, you are clearly deluded and therefore have no valid opinion on the design of Fox alarms.

I must say I have had very similar experience. My TXI+ alarms I had for many years and never missed a beat . They were easy to use and bomb proof.

Unfortunately cant say the same since going over the the TXI-ds. Similar issue where one is on its way now to delkim for draining a full battery in a 48hr sessions. The volume control dial on 1 alarm and on receiver sticking and multiple false beep on all no matter how much I play with the sensitivity. Either have constant beeping or require a foot of line to go before alarm goes off.

Really disappointed and wish I kept my TXI + alarms. They might of been bulky but they were the perfect alarm for me. Luckily Delkim customer service as mentioned are fantastic and I know faults will be fixed but annoying non the less

I doth protest sir - I was a Fox brand advocate for nearly 30 yrs (SX's/SXV's/LXR's/MMXR's and RX Digitals) however their current offerings are not only a backward step in terms of functionality they do, as expressed, look like d*g sh*te toys that have been assembled in a Shenzhen sweat shop by an overworked slave with leprosy.

My little mouse coffins are not only compact and bijou; they look the part and are made and assembled in an Essex sweatshop by an overworked asbo with ADHD . . .

I am not a tackle tart and I find nothing wrong with the design of Fox alarms, they do what it says on the can, that's good enough for me

If anything this thread just proves that people should stop replacing things for the sake of it!

If you have alarms that you trust just keep them, don't be fooled by a YouTube video that newer is better.

I'm day 3 in to a 5 day session currently and it's the first time the delks have been out this year for me. Today has p*ssed down quite a bit and as usual no problems with my 2 year old set of D's.

I like them and you only need to use the Response and Volume buttons on the front once they are set up, I don't know what everyone's beef is with them tbh. In 20 plus years of using Delks mine have never missed a beat. If you have a friday afternoon set return them for a replacement.

I saw a set of Wolf Icons today for the first time. The lad a few pegs along has them and seeing those in the flesh sparked my interest a bit but I wont be parting with my delks or ntxrs any time soon.
