Don't worry about the roach etc, they will calm right down in the winter. Hemp attracts them well, but it's a terrible winter particle. It encourages them to sit still on a spot feeding very slowly. You want them moving Jez.

Sweetcorn has always been the very best winter bait bar none. A couple of handfuls with three or four baits crushed up. That's it. You can't get better. The best freezer bait around will not compete with that when temps really drop. Singles are also your best friend. You don't need to throw any bait in most of the time.

RIP Fred.

I knew this man well as a very young lad. He used to fish the R&I at Johnson's, for tench. He had his favourite swim on the island side. They were his big love when I knew him, tincas. I caught some monster tench from the snag lake for the time, not far off British record. He told me I'd never catch more special fish if I lived to be 100. He was such a kind man. Both him and Rod were good pals with my dad. Both the most lovely men. When carp fishing was actually real. Not the sad abomination we have today.

Fred must have been really old, I'm glad that he lived so long. One of the kindest fisherman I ever met.

Yesterday's photo is taken from a bit higher and further back. It shows the fishes frame and shoulders much better mate.

It's not being shared widely. Not one of the photos that are being shown are from yesterday. They are all old photos of it before the publicity ban started. It's on our threads three times on here. Much better photos of it than are being shown.

I have the photo of it yesterday on my phone. Not seen that photo anywhere else on the internet. It's super impressive.

I was sent 50+ photos of big carp from there two weeks ago by a forum member from here. All caught on the hook baits recently. But they, and yesterdays photo cannot be shown, as there is a publicity ban now. It came in just after the recent Korda podcast featuring the fish. Literally a couple of days after.

I've seen the photo from today and it's insane. Bloody well done to the captor. The shoulders on it when you see it!! Been saying it for ages, that fish will dominate the record for a long time now it's got there. It's growing still. That will be 73/74 all day long this winter. It always comes out bigger in winter too. It's a very impressive carp for one so young. Best by far I've seen it look too.

Because I'm such a div I totally forgot original S2 & The Cheese in both TC1 & TC2 in that post. Shops will have both within two weeks. If you need before that we have a few tubs in all variants. WhatsApp message us. We do have a bit of a queue built up of messages on the work mobile so you might not get replied instantly, but you will be. 👍
