A club have posted this on social media (im not a member), and I get that i am of a certain age (older) ....
..... but this to me doesnt feel a particularly contentious or controversial rule/decision, however the outcry would suggest it is a really big deal for many, some even claiming they won't rejoin because of this rule and others claiming its not legally forceable anway (im not sure what difference that makes?)

My lake is similar. We have had a publicity ban for over 25 years. No pictures to be posted on any social media platforms what so ever. They have recently bought in the no live streaming on tiktok or instagram etc as well. No exceptions.
I've kind of got used to it, so it doesn't really effect me. I don't get how taking a picture of the fish only (with no background of the lake) is a problem really, but rules are rules if you want to fish the lake.

I was watching a yt video this winter, nobody on the lake, apart from two yt anglers, who proceeded to interview each other. OMG. What i am trying to say, pretty sensible rule, i can imagine it's near on impossible to reach a swim on things like linear without getting on video, when there's a vlogger in every second swim. Same btw with nice old streets or cities, you walk there minding your own business, and there comes a vlogger live streaming their city walk being annoyed that you walk there too spoiling their unique take on things. Etc, etc.

This was the BDAC, one of, if not the largest clubs in Essex.
I did wonder if it was to do with safeguarding issues, what with their large number of junior members?
In the last couple of years I've had a couple of potential members ask if it's ok to post stuff on their 'socials'. Lol

Yep totally agree, my local club has similar, never heard any complaints, I'm sure most are in agreement.

My syndicate has been no publicity for years and the other club I am in has turned non-publicity April 2026 (Martin Locke kept the venue name quiet on the Korda podcast when he was talking about THE fish from there). Waiting list on that one is circa 10 to 12 years at the moment according to the newsletter/application form when I rejoined...
I don't tend to post any photos on FB / Insta etc anyhow...I just spam my mates with them (if they are in the syndicate)
I'm all for keeping things a bit private. Do whatever photos/videos you want for your own pleasure...to look back on...but often publicising venues ends with them getting rammed and spoiling it for the locals/regulars.

I definitely differentiate between sharing of captures vs "creating content."
PAAS have had this type of rule for several years now ....

Never could get my head around publicity bans. Even back in the day. Let alone now.. 
I think Carp fishing Media is slowly eating itself anyway. So anything to stop the proliferation of Media content out there is a good thing in my opinion..
But if your filming for your own enjoyment or just sharing with a few mates. Can't see nothing wrong in that

They've all admitted that their content destroys waters, yet they do it anyway as they have bills to pay and tackle to sell.
Pound notes come first. Especially if you're a twenty something youtuber begging for a freebie.
I hate being so negative about this industry, but they don't help themselves.

Different game now. Gone are the days of sharing your pictures in the angling times, anglers mail and carp talk etc. Along came the internet, game changer and now vlogs.
Personally if people are making their own little blogs and are not bothering others, crack on for me. If they are annoying others then fair play, ban it.
The problem. As soon are you are fishing a water and somebody puts a film on about it, expect the worst, no different to pictures on face ache etc. The problem is there are a lot of desperate people in this game who don't want to do the work or don't know how to. Expect to struggle for a swim once it's out there. I learned this a long time ago, once bitten 5 times as shy. Never again would I post pictures, if you do expect a circus at the lake the following week and it can ruin the fishing for years

I suppose I'm old school (not Old Skool) due to the length of time I've been doing this hobby.
I suppose I'm Old school due to my age as I don't do most forms of social media. I don't generally watch much fishing content, the odd YouTube vid normally for some tech info ( setting ATT remote etc), I don't watch fishing programmes unless accidentally finding one when flicking through tv channels, but did watch 'The Great Rod Race' with Matt Haynes some years ago. I still have some DVD's and even a video from years back, usually Christmas stocking fillers gathering dust somewhere.
So in short the modern trend of blogs, vlogs et etc just pass me by. Not only am I unaffected ( as in watching it) by it but I actively dislike it. I don't dislike the perpetrators individually as I don't know them but because of what they turn my hobby into, so I would happily support a ban on them. I also have no problem with waters that have a publicity bans. It makes sense to keep things in-house for the good of the membership. I suppose being ex forces mean I'm more of a rule taker than breaker and that's been inbred in me. Go back to the 70's when it was possible to stumble onto an unknown patch of water with exceptional fishing. Would you quietly fish it or write to the Angling press with pictures shouting about your little bit of paradise? Like hell you would. You'd fish it quietly dreading the day when others found it and eventually but surely it leaked out in drips and drabs. Even in the 90’s when Carp Talk arrived there were plenty of pics being sent in from ‘unknown’ waters.

Ban them all vlogs, drones the lot. Get the time bandits off your waters and telling everyman and their dog what is in there so they can have a free tub of pop ups and then move to the next water and **** that up also.
Non publicity waters are they way ahead in this fishing lark. "No celebrities allowed, only blokes that work a full time job (not in the fishing game)"...48hrs on - 48hrs off......instant ban for clowns taking the piss, no bucketing, drones will be shot on sight.

i think they should ban it all on fisheries, its ruined allot of fisheries, just get out and enjoy your fishing no need to film it and ruin it for others

This is exactly what my last is like, absolutely nothing on Google except there's a lake there, it's lovely, only way on there is to know someone who's a member, and it's very well priced for the working man. Have moved away now and doubt I'll find another jem like that one.

Last water I was on we had a wannabe vlogger with all the camera kit etc . . .allegedly 'sponsored' by a B league bait company (code for paying ?6 per kg if you order 300kg) you could frequently hear him waffle on about his every move if you were in the next peg . . .
To be honest I wasn't that bothered myself as he caught f all most of the time and eventually decided to be a little more social in the hope of gleaning info off the 'old' dudes which is a category I'm rapidly approaching . . .(but obvs in denial)
Fed him some total bs about spots and he walked away happy . . .should have asked him for some free pop ups to be fair

I can?t be done with all the carpers posting on social media and getting places rammed if they catch a big fish,this is why I like to fish public waters which are surprisingly quiet,I?m currently on a stretch of canal the carp have spawned and the stretch apparently holds a few mid 20?s and a couple of low 30?s no people around no vloggers rabbiting on what the are going to do,2/3 swims on my side to fish from and the stretch is long,and most of all peace and quiet,i saw a badger and the thunder and lightning in early hours of this morning it was fantastic just to be out.
