SAE Baits still going strong , well worth having a look at the website ( saebaitdevelopments.co.uk ) I have no commercial interest by the way , just an old user of Scotty's gear . If I remember correctly , he wrote a series of articles for NM charting how he started making bait , and how things developed - as a lot of his development work was on a Club water I was fishing , I found it very interesting indeed. How the "Skins" got their name was a good one .....

For me it's 5g of garlic powder ( human food grade ) per 500g of base mix , plus 5 drops garlic EO per six large eggs ( 6 eggs per 500g base )

I've used braid of various types for around 30 years now , starting with Fireline for barbel fishing on the Severn and Dove . The first sinking braid I used was JRC Gold , which was fairly good , progressing through several others such as Avid Camo and SBX to my current choice of Ridgemonkey Descend , chosen because it is considerably thinner than the SBX , and of 20lb bs rather than the 40lb bs of the SBX . I like it - it casts well and sinks well

I can understand all the concern about this report , and whether or not we should ( or should not ) be using "carp care" products at all .

However , to my mind the testing that has been done is , in a way , totally useless. Surely the only way to be sure as to whether or not these products are effective is to have two groups of damaged fish ( and it needs to be the same type of damage in both groups ) all in the one tank/pool , and for one group to be treated , the other not .

Maybe I'm being a bit simplistic .......
