I share your pain. Just the way of the world at the moment.... I also think people think you're desperate to sell stuff and almost want you to give it away. There are some good guys on here tho. Bought and sold some gear recently and had a positive experience as buyer and seller. I have noticed less interest if you state no haggling.

Ive had a nightmare lately, fishing gear is bad enough but not a jot on the fools I have had to deal with to sell my Mrs moped.

It absolutely makes me rage... especially ebay.
I sold something and it said collection only, then cue some stupid low ball offers from someone which i knocked back. He then goes on to bid and win the item and messages me asking to post it... to Cambridge (I'm based in Manchester) i refused due to size etc.... next thing im reported and have to pay the ebay fees... i relisted it and he did the same again. cancelled account and came off ebay for good second time around

Years ago I was selling something, a guy rang me up and said he thought it was overpriced, so I said OK mate ill knock something off,

Sold 2 Delkims years ago on eBay. 29 days after receiving them buyer claimed he had not received them and opened a case and demanded a refund.
The buyers written English on the mails was very poor slang at best. Did a bit of research via the web and he had served 5 years for trying to rob his local shop. He got his head kicked in by a few customers and the shop assistant.

I know there's plenty of timewasters out there but is it fishing gear that tends to attract more than usual?
Reason I ask is I've sold non fishing stuff on ebay and FB Marketplace and apart from a few idiots things usually go well.
I've not tried Vinted yet, I might give that a go.

We have not answered our work mobile to unknown callers for the past 6 years Jeff, because if we did, NOTHING would ever get done. It often rings all day, every day nigh on (silent). Anglers would buy one tub of hook baits, experience incredible results... Then want to phone up and try to strike up a conversation, trying to find out why & what we are up to. Here's just one of the incredible ones we have had Matt. And dealing direct we would get so many.
Had a young lad contact us via WhatsApp. Showing a tub of hook baits, with one on top that had clearly been in the water over night. Swollen, you could even see the indent where the floss had been around it. Claimed they had been sent like that.
When I called him up, there was an older man behind him instructing him what to say. It was so cringy. I asked the young lad to put the puppet master on the the phone. After a heated discussion for two minutes about how what he was claiming was an impossibility, he apologised quickly & put the phone down. When I tried to call back it was blocked.
Scammers everywhere now.

I get my mate to sell my stuff on eBay using his account. 9/10 times it's fine but every now and then you do get a complete cockwomble as everybody does. You list something as new then a question comes in "is it new?".
Sold 3 packets of hooks to somebody once who claimed when he opened the envelope it was empty. FFS.

I was selling some bite alarms on Vinted and eBay and had some ridiculous offers and time-wasters.
I had them listed for £400, and someone went out of their way to tell me they'd seen some on Facebook for £375. I replied, "That's great, go and buy them then." He responded with "OK bitch" and blocked me. 😂
Then I had another lad ask if I wanted to swap them for a gaming PC.

I'm considering a set of Nevs at the moment and have been looking at a few on eBay. There's one set for sale with the description, "no marks or cracks whatsoever" but you can clearly see at least 3 cracks in the base from the pictures.....

I know where you are coming from, I had some items for sale on the bay of evils, I knew what they were worth, I knew what other sellers were asking..more than they were worth.
So I started £100 lower.
The first message asked for my best price for buy it now- it's there the start price
The second asked for my best c-a-s-h price for the second lot..if he collected.
Went on for a few days and when they sold item one sold for £100 over the opening price ..to the guy that messaged me at the beginning
And the second item also sold for £130 over the opeing bid to Mr 'best cash price'..and the delivery address Sunderland. So much for collection.
Now I also have some of specialist shooting items for sale privately at genuinely fair for both party prices. It's been like pulling teeth.
One guy asked for my best price on the lot, advertised prices amounted to around £900, some of it new and under half of RRP
Make me an offer...
£300..you're 70 miles away and there is fuel and time.
Three weeks later I knock £10 post off two items and he finally commits to buying them
A few weeks later he messaged me- he has a mate who may be interested in the rest of the gear.
I thought OMG here we go and ignored it until he messaged me again.
Got in touch with his mate, sent pictures, gave him my prices.'

I bought a set of 4 aviators from a guy who advertised them as collection only from a place about 15 miles from me. I got them for £50 under my maximum bid. I felt so guilty as it was just before Christmas I bought him a present of £100 of booze as a Christmas present when I eventually managed to pick them up. ( don't ever try to drive around Maidstone in the rush hour ) he and his wife were lovely people .Basically not all e bay transactions are bad, if both parties are normal , reasonable people, and not money grabbing *******s

it's an auction and if the hammer price is 50 quid less than the most you were willing to pay and higher than the starting bid ....it's fair.
