Then I guess they would move on the New wind on day 3.
As chap said in recent post. There is no rule book. Just need to try the things/conditions/decisions that have been successful before.

Great story years ago at Farlow's and the best fish in the lake was known as Mick's Fish. I always walked round if I had time to kill, a=chatting along the way.
I'd deffo not be fishing this particular weekend as bank holiday and all the rammo madness that comes with it.
Couple of latecomers go in last swim available. Behind *****etts Island in the corner of Factory and Smelly banks. Cut off from all sides.
I don't need to say anything else do I. The bloke could not believe his eyes PB by over 20lb. Gotta love that 😀

"At first I thought they would be an issue where I fish that has expansive reed beds around all swims, but so far I have not had any significant issue to land fish."

That's what the boat technology is for....takes the net just that bit further out if you cant jump in. Fook me we had wild times back thar yonder in the day. Crocs greatest invention since t'internet. Put straight back on. Used to take two days for the trainers to half dry out....and then you are back in the pond again wearing the buggers.

That's a great part of the puzzle though, isn't it?

Don't you just love the 'putting in the hours' and learning just that one little bit more, even if you've just had 48 hour blank. Not wasted because you tumbled something and best of all, for yourself!

Lakes and it's inhabitants vary hugely in their behavior. So your man pointed out 'the lee side and left quiet'. The original askee didn't favor that way. That's why the whole pastime is fantastic.

One of the earliest things I was told starting off was to look at the conditions (wind definitely a big one). Years later I was TOLD by someone who knew a lot more than most (head Bailiff). Fish here move on a new wind and take five days to get off it. ** So now as the original question was....fish into or behind the wind. You just gotta keep looking round (where they show, where they coming out) and work out what you think will be best for you and that may have to be next time.

**Thats the bit that got me thinking about it properly. Then you question nice wind SW or a biting NW and the fookers hiding under it. Next Full moons etc!!

Each to their own isn't as long as you're not hurting anybody.

And there will always be the next thing, bit or add-on.

I know a bloke (No Names), nice fella tbh, he's been bitten bad with it all. Anyway he uses those underwater cameras and films it. Got night vision (Infra). Anyway and this is the really clever bit. His mate coded/developed him a secondary camera that looks at the Fish Cam screen and sets off an alarm when a fish moves in before the hopefully oncoming bite. Was fed up getting takes in the middle of the night and missing them cos asleep.

Yep embrace the technology or get left behind innitt Bruvs.

The best readily available winter bait? I reckon a Richworth Tutti would take some beating, assuming they're still the same?

Years ago, and someone did mention the word Decades earlier. Fook me I'm young!
In the last century we were walking around Farlows and it was bitter. Icy cold the water.
We found a mid twenty sitting under the Snags, left of the Sunset and in front of Goose Green.

My mate had a few Tuttis in his pockets and was breaking them up a bit and dripping bits in. Once Mr Twenty realised he started taking the bits on the drop. Amazing in crystal clear water!

Chap who said 'cos they are crap' got valid point for a lot of it not being on.
If it's not offensive then it's still on somewhere and probably right now. Only difference is back then you only had 3 then 4 channels. Now you got a thousand and they are all the same sheight!
Bit like the records. Same in any era really, I guess, always been top heavy with absolute rubbish and you remember the 1% you liked. Sadly not just the one's you like. Nothing worse than waking up and a song's in your head and you hated it cos it was absolute shyte, nothing worse.

Back to the original question, twisted by post #4/5ish.

The Fishing Race.

Remember Jim Gibbinson, as whoever came along to see what he'd had he just casually let a couple of 6lb Tincas back without weighing them. 7lb then fish of a lifetime!
Are you sure?
