Some of my old hooks getting used, and now i have had some practice sharpening them they are as good as modern hooks.
These were made by Ashima and known as the C410 Indispensable, but also sold by Richworth, Hutchy, and others.
The Nash fang were also a Ashima pattern, called anti eject.

And who can remember the king of hooks, the Ashima super heavy carp!

My Terry Eustace T24's get dusted off a few times a year

A pair of original armalite 2.75 get an occasional use, and my Ultracult landing net is in my standard kit (in preference to a new solar one!)

Still using my original Daiwa Infinity X 3.5tc rods, paired with 5000t reels. Also still using Shimano Aero GT8010 baitrunners for short range work and Barbel fishing.

My small water set up, tfg x-plus 2.75, but feel like 2.5lb, with daiwa emblem s 5000t.
The softer 12ft rods are more versatile than my old 10ft rods.

Just found this on eBay via FB, Harrison Rods clearing out a lot of Iseama barbless Owner Hooks.

I still use 10000xt's and rx digital bite alarms almost religiously (I have a set of lxrs that I've only ever used twice as well). I've only just replaced my mk2 swingers as well

I don't think that modern reels or alarms are better than these tbh.

Rods on the other hand, have come a long way in the last 20+ years

Still bring out my original tournament entoh 5500 occasionally. Still bullet proof and hold alot of line for distance boat fishing

My "new" rods (Century NCS) were bought secondhand around 2010, and the Infinity X reels on them around the same time. My softer set (Ballista's) were bought new in 1993, but they now have modern reels on them. I still use my 4500GT's from the late 1980's on my 10 footers. I've only just semi retired my Delkims from about 1995, though I will still use them occasionally. My pod's an Obelisk from the mid '90's and one of my bivvy groundsheet's is cut from a caravan awning groundsheet bought in the early 1970's.
I suppose you might say I don't mind using older gear.

Love the old gear too, mainly alarms and reels.

I also still use fox swingers on the river, the sliding weight is ideal for fluctuating tides. I know swingers aren't fashionable but they're so practical.

A lot of new kit is basically black ,black and err black it's all very very samey ..and if tackle can have a soul ,soulless..

Awesome ,you sound like my mate he's into.what you.are as well ,god knows how many sets of Daiwas ,including a set of SS3000,owned by a well known carper ..Tom Stokes according to my friend,...personally never heard of him ,sorry 😂 Tom ..

He's just got into mmxr alarms and bought a unused original aqua armo.,plus wrap ...I'm trying to persuade him the other 12 bivvies he has is enough and I can get the aqua..

I love old rods. I've been using amorphous whiskers & original ballista's as my main rod's this year.
I've even got a couple of old North western & Cono-flex rods that I enjoy using from time to time. I took my Fibreglass Cono rods 11ft 2.5lb (150/7 - Soft Action S.U. Carp) along to France in Aug & brought in a 40 on one. Never seen any other rod bend quite like they do

I'd love to own a set of the cono 12ft 2.5lb rods (150/10 - Thru' Action Pike), but I've yet to see a single one pop-up anywhere!

What defines old, how many years? Asking as most of my stuff is older than younger Carpers but not old to me. Is that something that happens as you get older

My oldest stuff is match orientated as I took up carping in the late 80's but a lot of my Carp stuff is 90's/0's.

I picked up a pair of Rod Hutchinson Intuition 2.75lb rods (late 1990's?) for £35 off Gumtree and have used them almost exclusively this year, they've been lovely rods to use and the burgundy blank looks great. It's definitely made me start looking to older gear again.

I'm tempted to dig out my old swingtip rod that's not seen daylight in 30+ years for a bit of nostalgia.

That's a 27 sized UL kettle with the heat-resistant black coating still intact

Did you know Trangia do a similar Kettle with the lids handle in stainless ,and not round plastic this is for using on an open fire, you can also purchase from Trangia removable wire handle protective sheaths,also for use on a grill or open fire..

As founder of TAS ,...What you do is leave the many yrs of brews on the base and sides of Kettle the rest of it ,you Autosol once a yr ..

i have 4x 4500 they are brilliant reels!

old gear to me is stuff i couldnt afford in ther 90s
the slightly shonky oval brollies and overwraps etc and generally the scruffy appearance of carp anglers back then.

That Trangia has seen a bit of Coleman stoves usage from back in the day. Thank God for cleaner fuels these days. Wouldn't part with my Trangia. Must of had it getting on for 30 plus years now..

Very nice! I always forget about my XLs. Mine are on a shelf in the house, totally unmolested. XLs were the first alarms I ever used, paired with old Nash wasps.

I still use my 12ft 2 3/4 test Leslie's of Luton insight carp rods, the original burgundy Harrison blanks. Superb rods even by today's standards

The oldest bit of kit I use regularly is my Dymag MkII landing net I bought in 2004.
I've got rods and reels from the 90's but they don't get used much now, but I do try and catch one fish every year on my SS5's and Mitchell 300S from the 84.

Love that.. reminds me of someone I knew back in the early 90's when carp tackle was coming on leaps and bounds. Would only fish with glass rods ( Jack Hilton ) ,Mitchell reels and Heron bite alarms. He even gave me a set of Carbon rods he built as he just didn't use them. Just loved using old tackle. Still caught his fair share.

Have you had those rebuilt, look very tidy, unless carbon wrapped with a cane tape

Got a set of Herons but even updated with modern components still aren't up to much. At the end of the day it's about catching carp, not using crap alarms.

I did start a project making new backs looking like Heron on a set of Neville's ( which I normally use). They are still unfinished somewhere. I'll have to dig them out and finish them.

Is it one of them old Argos sunlounger covers? I think Kevin Nash or Fox made them? Me mate had one with foam sandwiched between the two covers. Also had a leg conversion kit so the legs were adjustable. From memory made by Preston innovations.thing weighed a ton..

It's a sun lounger cover made by Nash ( the triangle peg loops was a clue as they were used on a lot of the early gear - Happy Hooker slings, early Titans etc). It was designed to cover the sun loungers of the time which did come in single dark covers sometimes, brown being sought after, but most seemed to come in orange and yellow swirly patterns 😲 this coupled with shiny aluminium frames were a bit loud to say the least.

Often Lafuma are quoted but these were steel framed, 6 or 8 legs and a bit lower with a simple locking rack system to raise the head end. The cheaper Argos style sunlounger had two legs ( making it inherently unstable), ratchet system to crank the head up, which failed with amazing regularity and a slightly tapered bed profile as opposed to the squarer Lafuma. At the time most outlets which sold garden furniture mainly consisted of these sunloungers or white plastic patio chairs and tables. Only specialist or upmarket outlets had anything different.

Probably more bad backs and neck injuries were down to these loungers than anything else 👍

‘Team Hutchinson' rods 12' 3lb TC - hand built in England

They are in a red colour similar to the dream makers

I'm trying to put a date / spec on them. Do they precede the dream maker mk1, or from a similar time period, or a lower model?

Struggled to find anything online
