I bought about 10 empty packets off eBay for about a fiver the other year - for exactly the same reason as you

He says it’s growing every day….

As said I think it started from a good place & now it’s just become an attention and financial venture. It was stated that all profits would go to young anglers & back into angling… let’s see in 6 months what’s happened.

Exactly, the setup is to suit requirements.

But, how many 16 year olds are fishing for doubles in farm ponds with 3.5 - 4lb tc? Utterly ridiculous imo I’d rather use a float rod!

Bang on, although the lower TC rod puts ‘more’ pressure on in general, you’ve got way more margin for error through give in the rod when playing the fish. 4lb broom handle when a fish powers off on a lunge? Far less give, far less margin of error.

Also worth noting when the weed is up, TH uses old rods with more give in them. The reason, to use that to exert pressure on the fish itself, rather than hoiking the whole lot through including half the weedbed itself as you would a 4lb TC rod.

Horses for courses and each to their own, but I think this push into higher test curves is in part brands, and in part to accommodate the divvys who want to cast 6oz leads in farm ponds.

I cannot imagine 10ft 4lb rods are much fun playing a fish in comparison to the chap above on his ballistas

Hmm okay.

Thought the side ones might have had a little area to slip net into & sling the other side.

Would rather not have the bag with full pockets for everything

Anywhere to clip net / sling to?

Rather than using a quiver for example

Whilst I agreed with the early iteration of no carp tax, it’s becoming a bit ridiculous now.

Why I agreed at the start

- brands popping up, ordering stuff from China, 0 r&d costs and sticking their prices in line with existing brands
- brands outsourcing to China, you get what you wish for. It was obvious China would just create more
- brands spending how many thousands sponsoring complete tools? Charging everyone else way more to subsidise these take out merchants
- it was all tried & tested gear that Craig or close friends had used.

Why I’m starting to raise an eyebrow.

- hundreds of new links, camping gear ect, has he really actually tried all of this stuff?
- starting to look like it’s purely a play to get affiliate commission rather than a movement to help people
- this has a bit of a personal element to Ali to it now. I think Ali is a complete tool, but, do I want to see someone take pleasure if he goes out of business? Absolutely not. Knock on effect to family ect.

My understanding is that the links on the website are stuff he’s used / can vouch for. So you can buy with some form of confidence, as there is a lot of rubbish on there and you’ll not know until it arrives.

I understand the points about innovation, product developments ect. But, if you get China to manufacture for you, you know what the outcome is. You know they’ll just produce extra and sell it themselves. The companies manufacturing their own products aren’t on temu are they… that would create more jobs if firms started doing that! Costs would have to go up in all likelihood though.

The issue is that any of us (just as Ali did) could start a ‘brand’ tomorrow & have a full range of terminal tackle by the end of the week purchasing from
China. That’s ridiculous. I’d suggest people were better just buying direct from China than lining these chancers products.

He’s stated he’ll put all the affiliate money back into it or to create opportunities for young anglers. so, let’s see if he sticks to his word. Ali had a lot to say on the fox podcast, but what’s he done? It’s all hot air.

I could only think he'd been involved in the distribution or something to even get close to that figure. Which was ultimately given to cc Moore I believe anyway. So maybe he lost out on that kick back which had been agreed? His Mrs is surely just part of the package rather than paying both? Just give her free gear as a sweetener. Seems unrealistic for a bait firm to be able to give 25k a year + tackle + bait. Would they really make that back in sales?
Are you sure?
