What a sad loss.
What a lovely Gentleman he was.
I only met him once, but we were together all day at a drain down at one of Mark Simmonds out sites. Chris was doing pictures for Carp Talk.
We all had a very early breakfast at a local pub then onto the new forest area for the drain down.
Such a loss, a true carp fishing legend and historian.

That piece lead me to communicate with him on numerous occasions and in my eyes is the greatest thread ever put on the net. He has been a great help with my hunt for leney stocking and was always open with information on current remaining stocks. A true knowledgeable gentleman and always approachable ,will be greatly missed. Believe he has just finished another book on Ashlea pool ?

Chris was one of life`s lovely Human beings
I first met Chris 49 years ago in a pub in shepperton he was the regional BCSG officer and joined me in the group
and we stayed friends ever since mainly meeting in person at shows and functions but it was always like it had been last week even though it may have been 10 years

he was a true inspiration to so many always ready to help and a walking encyclopedia of carp fishing history a passionate dedicated carp angler and his writings and talks will be sorely missed a real Legend and he has made his mark and will always be remembered
I hope he is chatting to Len and all the other guys round some pond RIP mate

RIP Chris. He was such a nice man.

He will hopefully be sitting down with Donald Leney, chatting about fishing right now.

Met Chris when he did a slide show/talk at the central London region of the carp society when I was a regional organiser in the early 90's. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his carp fishing and the history/roots of our past time. Another icon of carp fishing unfortunately taken too early, rest in piece Chris.

Chris Seemed to be in good health at the last meeting I saw him do at the Alexandra suite in swanley on Ashley pool and other things.

Just read a post from Dave Lane which resonates with me. FB and even this forum, is so focused in that little bit of plastic that there is very little being said about the loss of such an iconic bloke in our pastime which really says a lot about the state of modern carp angling. Very sad

Very sad news, Chris was a massive inspiration to me when i was younger with his love of carp fishing especially surface fishing, which i think is the most exciting way of catching carp.
RIP Chris you will be truly missed.

His entusiasum for leney history was a joy. I remember the red wine flowing and an amazing few hours spent with him 15-16 years ago just 3 of us talking all things leneys... a fond memory of a true gent. Rest in peace old son x

Never met him but always loved his enthusiasm and tireless work to document so much carp fishing history. Only listened to his recent podcast the other week and could listen to him talk all day. RIP Chris.

One of the true legends or carp angling. Such sad news.
I hope he's up there fishing for some of the old legendary carp that are already there.
