Terry is as good a storyteller/narrator as he is an angler, and without all the overacted pseudo euphoria almost manic behaviour of some other "presenters".
and without the incessant plugging of the latest expensive carp trinket.
and no has-been fool kissing him or dumping his genitals in his face.
just carp fishing and riveting dialog.

He is a floater fishing machine.
I met him at Christchurch back in the 2000's. He was bagging a few on the top so i decided to fetch my floater gear on my next visit and I had a couple of mid 30s off the top.
Shared my curry and a brew with him as he looked a bit skinny

Twas good. I do hope he follows that yearning for a proper biggun, that'll be something to look forward too

Anchored floaters. A method almost forgotten these days. Can see a huge up take in spools of light mono and small leads with a lot of tackle manufacturer's in the new year.. Class from Tel as always..

I'm going against the grain, but it didn't grab me like his other videos, something to do with me probably failing all the time at floater fishing and the films based at waters I have zero interest in. The Alex & Carl video albeit completely different, was much more for me, big wild unfished waters as opposed to day ticket circuit waters, but each to your own tbh

I'm a Hearn fan boy and like all of his stuff. This was the poorest offering from the recent stream of his esp films still stayed to the end though.

It was absolutely rubbish. You just cannot make a story from floater fishing.

Excellent watch as always. Never lose sight of the fact that these videos are free. I can't help thinking people assume they owe us something. Okay they always have a certain amount of "buy our stuff" but they are always beautifully filmed.

I've watched about 15 mins of it so far and finding it a bit boring. Will go back and watch the rest but not the most entertaining or gripping of stories (as said it's more a collection of short stories rather than the normal campaign type video and suffers as a result imo)

i might be the only one who doesnt find floater fishing for carp at all interesting anyway, whether watching or doing it myelf

Neither do I, haven't been arsed with it since the 80s. Set myself a target back then of a 20 off the top, did it late 80s and I think I've only had one more go since then.

Have to agree floater fishing does require a certain amount of effort. Usually in whether when all we feel like doing is seek shade and sit down for a bit. Used to enjoy it more in my younger years when I was far more tolerant of the heat and the only thing you had to worry about was the odd duck pestering you. Went out for the day earlier this year in the Peak of the heat wave we was experiencing to try my had at getting one of the top. Within a couple of hours of trying to fend of anything that flew it seemed within a five mile radius. I gave up and settled for a bit of bottom bait fishing. Far more civilised..

If it wasn't for ducks and seagulls I'd do plenty more floater fishing, at times the fish are real suckers for it, and you can also target/pick out the odd better fish. It still needs some finesse though, and stick float control skills are invaluable.

Something else that has become a forgotten art as unlike the majority of carp anglers, ( ), you have to work at it instead of just slinging your 3oz lead out with a Turbo German rig.

I used to love floater fishing, trying to be quiet enough and get them feeding close enough to be able to freeline a dog biscuits and catch.
I have been lucky enough to catch a few 20lb'ers off the top, although I'm not sure whether it's sad enough or memorable enough that I can remember them so specifically.
Earith, 21lb mirror, the only fish I caught twice, hooked just over the weedy margins, Nazeing Meads Brackens, 22lb male, the day they started spawning where I had flicked the line over a Lily leaf to slow down the drift in the wind.
Hintlesham, 6lb line and a 20lb golden Ghost freelined.

I've never been as good as the likes of Terry Hearn or Dave Lane with anchored baits, and I've seen Dave Lane catch at Suffolk Water Park from peg 1 when the wind was pushing into the end and bay.

Enjoy all Terrys produtions but this one was a little lacking imho....Certainly not up there with ''Tunnel vision'' or the ''Little grey'' ones.... Hes set such a high standard for himself....Some of the specific fish capture stories ,telling them in front of his little roaring log fire are right up there, as well as the Thames exploits ones....
Certainly no one can tell a tale quiet like Tel and transport you there to the moment.... This years offering not so .... He'll be back...!!

At one time I knew the names, locations and most of the decent fish that were swimming in the UK even though I knew I would never fish for them, I took a real interest in what was about and what people were fishing for, pretty amazing really. I can stop this post now. Today I could not give a flying ****, says a lot for me and my interest in the pastime as to where we are now, full of bull ****, bell ends trying to make a name for themselves by fishing for any ****ter that swims and everybody trying to cash in on the pastime

Long live the people with a real passion, there is still a bit of tranquility out there, enjoy it while you can

Search out those quiet places,with no big fish in them,..big fish equals big egos ,and sometimes trouble..jealousy and back biting..

I don't fish big fish waters,have zero interest in those places,..those quiet corners are still out there for sure,...,where you can angle to your own parameters, watch the comings and goings of the wildlife...

Long may big fish waters continue,...and the Billy Smarts circus that seems to follow it..,...

catching them off the top is the most enjoyable way to catch them.

I was the same.

Now just happy fishing the one very secluded water, fish touch 60lb but the main attraction is the scenery and lack of ****er wannabes.

Don't even bother going from December to March these days, the way I see it the fish will still be there when I go again just bigger.

I still have some nice waters to fish, without the idiots and townie anglers. I fish far more for other species now though, they are more of a challenge. Wild fish you see, whearas every carp we fish for is just a stockie at the end of the day!

A lovely video and he's a great story teller ( amazing the detail he remembers about each capture) but it does depress me that all these waters he's fishing are £1,300+ a year to fish and invitation only, followed by a long waiting list.

Carp fishing is becoming more exclusive and expensive than membership of the s****iest private members clubs in Mayfair. Just don't see how I can fish these waters.

I've fished a few places Sir Tel has made videos and written about and they were £100 tickets anyone can buy. These places are out there.

And on the subject of the thread, I thought this Xmas offering was his worst one yet, I found it a bit boring tbh which is a shame as I am a big fan and was looking forward to it.

A great story teller that didn't really have a story to tell this time.

I think his final piece to camera in the film was very telling - he wants to get out and chase a big fish again. I think those stories are when he's at his best.
