I think there's going to be trouble with this, comes back to my warnings about 'things' two years ago, when again I got laughed at etc...bit like the otter warnings I gave out 10 years ago..
Anyway ..
How is this going to effect passionate anglers, or getting to tackle shops, lakes etc...?
I just don't know..

A proposal to limit the amount of car journeys and impose a charge if you exceed a certain amount.
A kind of variation on the ULEZ charges

OK, mate, basically Oxford Council have passed or passing a law whereby you won't be allowed to use your car ,only a few times a year,zones,..and fines if you do..
So under the Green agenda ,read socialism some might say under the guise of green issues, you will not be able to use your car freely in Oxford as you once did ...this could affect a person's job, health everything ...
That's all I basically can say, except we need an Oxford person on here to explain more..
Omfg,...I wish it was untrue..

Most people ignore it thinking it will never happen where they live, when it does they can't say they weren't warned.
They'll say 'hey didn't the helmet bloke say something about this'

"Under the traffic filters, residents will still be able to drive to every part of the city at any time – but in the future, at the times when the filters are operating, you may need to take a different route (e.g. using the ring road) if you want to travel by car."
Doesn't seem that unreasonable
Ive been to Windsor, a similar tourist hotspot, twice recently and every where I drove around town it was gridlocked. It would annoy me if I was a local and all these tourist/visitors descended onto my town every weekend.... In fact isn't there some one on here who doesn't like out of towners coming in

Well done to Oxford for taking the initiative with this. All cities - UK & abroad - should follow suit. The caveat here, though, is that there needs to be full provision for first class public transport services, accessible to all and at a very reasonable cost.

I live 6 miles from Oxford and not heard of this 'around Oxford'
The council are cutting down massively on cars in the city centre and have 'green zones' to limit cars.
I think most cities will follow suit eventually. Shouldn't really effect fishing though. The Oxfordshire venues are all miles away from the city in really rural areas.

Blown way out of proportion this,
It effects 6 roads and only at certain times of the day or year and you can apply for a permit to allow you to use those roads up to 100 times when the restriction is in place.
I live in Weston super mare and I'd bloody love that down here, Bank Holidays I leave town as it's so bloody busy.

Oxford City Council ...don't even get me started
i spent 50+ yrs living in Oxfordshire and most of my working life as a 360 excavtor op in and around Oxford and believe me the council are truly a law unto themselves and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery or a F**k up in a brothel
they are in cahoots with the Universities who really pull there strings for there own agenda
they claim to be green and you couldn't be further from the truth its all about the Universities getting there own way and making themselves even more money from rich foreign students
its always been Council policy to make it as hard as possible for people to use there cars in Oxford and even harder for people delivering things into the city centre
so they are just continuing with this policy
as for fishing there is plenty of superb fishing in the City Centre
its called the River Isis (Thames)

If it's like road closures I've seen and experienced first hand, not fishing wise but It will affect more than 6 roads. When those roads are closed they'll be gridlock all around.
A minority will benefit, the council will claim a win for tackling climate change, a vast reduction in pollution and traffic in those roads.
What they will fail to say is that the area around the closed off area will be in gridlock, residents health will suffer along with local business.
Dig a little deeper and you'll probably find they'll be councillors, MPs or University heads that live in the privileged area.

The style of the presenter will put some people off but if you can get through that, much of it is about 15 minute cities
It's a concept where you will live in a cell/zone where the expectation is that you'll won't normally need to spend any more than 15 minutes walking anywhere to do you normal life.
We'll end up as inbreds
Sounds a bit like what they want to do in Canterbury.

'We'll end up as inbreds' ...
So.. like north London then?
The actual detail is interesting. Much less of a woke / green sniper attack on society and more a reasonable idea to cut congestion and pollution.
Always wondered why anglers are scared of green policy. Given the amount of time we spend in the glorious outdoors and all that

Don't get me started about schemes to cut pollution and congestion.
In my area 3 councillors, 2 ex MPs and chums of the local mayor have segregated the area where they live and claim it cuts pollution, congestion and fights climate change. All they have done is moved it to outside their boundaries.
Wouldn't surprise me one little bit if there's a bunch of ****s in Oxford doing something similar for their nimby selves, they'll probably grant themselves permits to drive whenever they want because they are 'important'
I feel sorry for the younger generation who'll be living in 15 minute towns and cities.

Is a parking ticket trying to take away your freedom and restrict where you can go and how often? If councils impose these restrictions what is stopping them from doing even more and this could just be the start of how they control people's lives.

You was the one that bought up prisons over what is essentially a parking fine
What freedoms have been taken away?
This is what I posted earlier
Under the traffic filters, residents will still be able to drive to every part of the city at any time – but in the future, at the times when the filters are operating, you may need to take a different route (e.g. using the ring road) if you want to travel by car."
You are being told to go a different route
I have no axe to grind in this, I got a fine recently because I drove down a school road between 3-4pm. Yes I was thinking you cheeky c**** when I got the fine through but the next time I drove pass the road there was big signs saying no entry between 3-4pm so it was my fault. Do I think it's all some sinister campaign to take out freedoms away. Or do I think you know what they got a point.

Was you angered about your freedom being taken away about that ?

I live up north and we need to be encouraging people to go out and go into towns as the high streets are turning into boarded up ghost towns not putting restrictions on travel. If it is around schools at certain times to keep children safe and stop parents travelling a mile down the road in their huge gas gusling 4x4's then it's a good idea.

I don't disagree with that. We need our high streets, like we as anglers need our local tackle shops.
Would you drive an extra mile or two if where your tackle shop was turned into a one way street? I dont know you personally but I've been on here long enough to think I can safely say you would
There's no freedoms taken away , it's just you cant go the old route you took, but you would still drive the xtra mile or two to get there
I dont see any difference to what's being suggested in Oxford

Once they've got us all in electric cars, they'll be able to stop our cars if they want.
I can imagine it now, ‘the law' type in registration plate....and then choose from a list of options:
Disable car
Limit speed
Send warning message to the centre screen telling them they just got fined

I'm not from Oxford but all of this seems to be getting out of control now.
I started reading this and with splitting people up into districts and permits needed to move between them, what next Hunger Games?
Oxford's Berlin Wall
It does seem that literally anything now, no matter how Draconian is permissible as long as it's sold under the banner of anti-climate change.

Sort of what you are saying.
LINK
Seems this sort stuff was largely unnoticed in my Non Carp thread but I'm glad it's finally getting noticed.
All these schemes do is divert traffic into fewer roads and into gridlock.
Yes we have to reduce our reliance on cars but in my personal experience it doesn't work.
In the link Oxford and Canterbury are mentioned but also Derby, not heard about that one, anyone know?

My friend has not many days ago sent me a link whereby ,a huge swathe of East Devon is to be developed, this is between Honiton and Sidmouth..
This apparently encompasses, takes in many small villages, hamlets etc..it looks like a small city is being created ,a smart city...
People laugh at
Green Agenda
WEF
Klaus Scwab
21/30
Vaccine mandates
The Reset
Vaccine side effects and deaths from them
Green lockdowns ,control in towns and cities..
Those whose dismiss ,denigrate, laugh, point the finger, use the easy 'conspiracy theory' cancel route..
I'd suggest they keep a very ,very open mind to what is happening under your noses, because ultimately it is about full and total, end game socialist potential control of every aspect of your lives...
Ring doorbells ,will be a tame ,tame thing to what is coming ..dreadful things ,and a portal for abuse..
Still I don't know of anyone dying from covid ,this so called deadly disease ..
It's called drip fed conditioning ,slowly surely your freedoms are going under the guise of whatever they want to control you by..

There's a difference between some of the topics you've mentioned and road schemes in my opinion.
Whereas some of the topics mentioned are based around unknown people conspiring and undercover in the background, these road schemes are being implemented by local councils, the people we have the opportunity to vote for, if people can be bothered.
These people will often divert traffic from where they live or where people of influence live to other areas, areas where the poorer often live under the guise that they are fighting climate change, reducing pollution and promoting active travel . All these schemes do is move it from one place to another.
It's heartbreaking when you see ambulances trying to access the areas where it has become gridlock.
One of the main culprits encouraging this behaviour is not someone lurking in the background, she's easily found

She has been given lots of money to produce facts, figures and stats so that these town planners can justify their nimby schemes.

Ambulances... unfortunately they'll have a longer wait when they get to A and E ...
The level of paranoia on here is getting a little crazy
We've gone from a proposed traffic reduction scheme to Logans Run and a worldwide secret agenda. (The Island is a very good update of the Logans run idea btw)
Of course there'll be councillors abusing their position with stuff like this. But, we do need to start thinking differently about all things 'green ' if we want to leave anything worthwhile after we're pushing up daisies (hopefully not through concrete)

I know the New World Order theories are not directed at me.
So that leaves me asking you. What are you saying it doesn't matter if ambulances are delayed because they'll only be waiting outside hospitals.
And it's ok to allow councillors to abuse their positions because they've always done so. They used to do it quietly without us noticing but now they do it under the guise fake eco credentials.
I'm not against long term green goals but all in good time, in the short term let's not make people poorer and move pollution around pretending it's gone.
And yes there will be more concrete because we have an ever expanding population to house.
Supporting greenwashing doesn't make you green.

I'm not saying any of those things are alright. They're not. But people need to get some perspective. They whinge and moan about just stop oil protests because an ambulance might get caught up, but ignore the line of 12 ambulances queued up outside A and E - regularly
You know my view on corruption in government at any level so no need to explain that again
One can't dismiss the aspects of green policy you don't like as greenwashing just because it means you might personally have to make changes - not a dig at you, but an observation . We're past the point where can do 'short term' because the knock on effects of so much of what we do are most definitely long term.
I don't think you and I are that far apart in our thinking to be fair. I probably pin my colours to the green flag more vehemently
And the hysteria that's starting on here...? Come on...

The missus has just rang. She's out doing Christmas shopping at a retail park.
She's been trying to get out of a car park for 30 minutes but can't because of gridlock and there's no sign of it improving.
They've changed the road layouts so the cycle lanes are now wider than vehicle lanes, buses have lost their bus lane and are now stuck with the other vehicles and guess what. Not one cyclist has been seen, and who can blame them in this weather.
I'm not anti cycling, I used to cycle a lot but this madness has to be stopped. Of course make it safe to cycle but let's not create more pollution than necessary.
So yes I can dismiss failures of green policy.
I hope you're not too cold when you out on your bike doing the weekly shop and your air source heat pump is keeping the house warm without the need for electricity as back up. LINK

Link refers to more to air source rather than ground source heat pumps.

For God's sake don't try the South Circular in the morning rush hours. Especially when there are roadworks and water leaks. You will lose you're s@#t. Not to mention the BMW, Mercedes, and Audi Drivers. Speaking of Mercedes, isn't it serendipitous that Mr Benz's daughter wasn't named Brunhilda.

Come on, you're better than that.
Do you know how many cyclists are making that pollution? Exactly none. Its a load of people in cars buying into rampant consumerism because of a fat bloke in a red suit or a bloke who looked like me when I was younger that they possibly don't believe in.
Like I said. We can't pick and choose just because we might have to adapt our ways. We really do all need to re-think things.
If I remember rightly there was a scheme in place near Oxford on some of the commuter roads where they encouraged car sharing to reduce pollution. Did they set up cameras to look for passengers in the front seat? First thing people did was try to find ways around it. ...
And I can't believe you let Mrs tinhead do the shopping by herself.

It's not the cyclists as there are none, it's whoever put the cycle lane in.
The same people who are deterring bus users. The bus users who are stuck in traffic while they look to their left to what was once a bus lane.
A more modest cycle lane would have sufficed.
As for picking and choosing, surely we should only pick schemes that work.
As for consumerism and anti Santa are you some sort of commie?
I hope Christmas Day will be like any other day for you, you don't wanna be a hypocrite do you

Don't need to be electric, you can do that with most modern cars being “connected” now anyway. Anybody ever read the t's and c's that essentially you have a tracker on your car now. And dont forget the microchip they implanted during the vaccine rollout can talk to anything with Bluetooth btw.
Do find it a bit of a leap from “cars only being allowed into a city centre for x amount of days a year” to not being able to drive a car anywhere at any time.......

In Ipswich bollards were placed along the cycle lanes on Colchester and Valley Roads to 'protect' cyclists. It actually made the road more dangerous for all road users, including cyclists.
To avoid the bollards, the few cyclists are now being forced into the gutter where rubbish ends up. Cars can't pull over if an emergency vehicle is on flashing blues as the bollards prevent it.
Also on part of Colchester Road, houses have an access road alongside the main road, separated by a verge, cyclists would frequently use that rather than the cycle path anyway, only coming back into the path at the last access point for a roundabout.

We could argue the toss all day long. My point is that it's people refusing to adapt that exacerbate the problem. If people dont change their habits then every scheme will fail . Didn't work out for the dinosaurs did it?

One thing you can no longer do is take the most the direct route to my local hospital.
You have to sit in traffic on the South Circular road, that's road that's been made worse but used to be where young Ella KIssi Debrah used to live before she died of pollution, the first person to have that as a cause put on their death certificate.

Mal have you heard of Ella's mum
Rosamund
She is a World Health Organization advocate for health and air quality
She stood for the Green party in 2019
She runs this website
Clean Air For All
Sounds like a person with similar values to yourself?
From the Wiki link this is what she has to say In a 2020 interview with the Guardian
For people who live in an LTN, yes, life is better, I don't deny that, but their traffic is going somewhere. You cannot live in a neighbourhood where one part has an LTN and children are cycling and playing outside and the roads are safe, then pop along a couple of roads later and there's gridlocked traffic. We cannot live in a society like that.
Some more, I can find you loads more if you're interested
She's on Twitter, why don't you message her or go through her website and tell her that she can't pick and choose and must adapt her ways.

I have and it's a tragedy. And it's not her that needs to change
I don't think you're getting what I'm saying
The schemes aimed at reducing pollution/ congestion will always fail if people refuse to buy into the overall picture. Some people need to use a vehicle, some don't but don't change habits and then you get your bottlenecks.
Imagine this...
30 Londoners' better halves ' why don't you take the bus to work instead of driving next week to see how it goes?'
'No chance. The bus is always stuck in traffic.'
Next week the half empty bus is sat in traffic behind 30 cars...
The systems aren't perfect but one of the key failings is the people who won't change even if they could

Pay a small fortune each year to tax your vehicle, same small fortune each week to put fuel in it then leave it sat there for a week whilst paying out again on bus fare. The bus you are then sat on next to complete strangers with more chance of catching the dreaded covid,no thanks I will stick to my nice warm car with heated everything and music playing. That is the attitude you will get Mal as that's how society is now,I see it in Alsager when parents are picking up their kids from school. The latest 4x4 sat, engine still running and they live literally 5 minutes down the road

I hear what you say but you need to accept that many of these schemes have been put in by people to serve themselves, more often than not they are in high car ownership wealthier areas, traffic is then displaced into low car ownership poorer areas.
Any scheme that removes bus lanes and deters people from using them is a bad scheme.
I'm against bad schemes.
You are right Rosamund doesn't need to change, she's an expert so I'll follow her judgement over yours.

Some big points in this thread, some irritating truths, like the parents who drive half a mile to drop their children off at school and empty buses.
There are others as well, when it is cheaper to drive to work than use public transport. I used to work in London, over 10 years ago now, but even then a season ticket on the train from Ipswich to Ilford, cost more than driving and parking.
Overcrowded buses or trains at peak times, no chance of a seat, so people drive.
Buses from Ipswich estates into the town centre cost more than driving in and parking. £4.60 compared to £3 for the time it took me to sort out my ESA and PIP.
Then we have traffic management, a roundabout in Ipswich was removed and replaced with traffic lights, at a few million pounds.
Air Pollution and congestion in the area has increased as now traffic is held up, especially at rush hour. The Highways Agency went to a traffic management company to get advice on how to reduce the problem, and were told 'put a roundabout at that point'.
Bus routes don't necessarily cover the right route. As an example the local 15 and 15A, two totally different routes, one going into Stoke Park and round, the other going Chantry onto Stoke Park, could help local residents and students by going out to Tesco's and Scrivener Drive, half a mile away.
There are also no longer any 'through' buses. It used to be possible to get a bus from Chantry and Whitton to Heath Road hospital and back. A handy route for staff, patients and visitors. Now you have to buy a transfer ticket, 2 tickets or have a season ticket and an awkward change in the town centre.
These all add up to more traffic on the road.

All these people moaning about rights being taken away, and then moaning about people taking a 4wd on the school run. Surely thats their right as well? Easy to get into, great visibility and safe when loaded with kids, what's not to like?

Negligible on both, it's around 2miles. Less time to drive than go on the bus, so the £3 parking is the easy option. Once I would have walked it, but sadly now I can't, hence why I'm claiming ESA and PIP

So adding to the congestion and pollution for the sake of a quid? Especially as the car wouldn't even get warm, so would run even dirtier.....

I take it you've been reading my posts really carefully, so you noticed it was to claim disability benefits, ESA and PIP.
Then consider, to get to the DWP office, from the bus stop is a 200metre walk, a can do, but painful. The car park is half that.
Then having to be at the DWP office at 2pm, I would have to be on the bus at 1.15, whereas by car I wouldn't have to leave mine until 1.40.
The funny thing is that the route I take avoids the traffic pinchpoints and is more direct. I avoid the congestion spots that the bus route doesn't.
So for the sake of £1, I'm actually creating less pollution by not getting caught in traffic, I'm closer to my destination.

Maybe some locals are abusing their councillors but from the outside I've only heard reports of criticism and concern.
If you are going to introduce a scheme like this you need to have balls.
I'm still suspicious that this is just yet another nimby scheme designed to appease certain people of influence and standing.

Not sure you've mentioned claiming ESA and PIP before, must have missed it.....
You aren't creating less pollution as the bus is running anyway, unless you are incredibly overweight so causing the bus to struggle.
So it's creating more pollution to save 25 mins and a quid?

You are still missing a point. Due to my back, hip and leg mobility, which i most definitely DID mention, I would struggle from the bus stop nearest the DWP office, the car park is half the distance.
I did omit to say, to get the bus back to mine, I have to walk around half a mile across town to Tower Ramparts, which I would struggle to do. I struggle now with 200metres.
It is NOT just the £1.60 saving, it is the closeness to the benefits office of the car park.
My route into and out of town is not congested, does not go through any of the pinch points that hold traffic up, and is shorter than the bus route.
There is actually another possibility, that within the 100metres from the benefits office, if I'm lucky, I can get free on street parking, if there is a space. So the worst is I save £1.60, I might actually save £4.60.

Not directed at Dave who I think is just giving an opposite view to keep the topic debate alive, give an alternative point of view and likes to make people think.
But from personal experience with interaction with people who design, promote and think they are doing good with schemes, they seem to be either young, fit and blind to other people's plights. or just selfish corrupt nimby's, It's either their way or the highway (pun intended).
I don't really do Whatsapp but feel privileged to have been invited to a private group that includes Rosamund Kissi-Debrah.
She believes in clean air for everyone but she certainly knows about greenwashing.
To those people on here who think they are open minded and abreast of the green situation should be aware of what they are being fed. I'm not an expert but I do follow those who are, if you think Ros and her organisation are wrong let me know of your concerns, she's a very busy woman but I'll try to pass your concerns on.

To those people on here who think they are open minded and abreast of the green situation should be aware of what they are being fed. I'm not an expert but I do follow those who are, if you think Ros and her organisation are wrong let me know of your concerns, she's a very busy woman but I'll try to pass your concerns on.

I don't have problems with the green issue, but I do have problems with some of the things that are ignored or forgotten about.
For example we should not be dumping our waste into landfill, it is long term pollution. There is much in our home or industrial rubbish that can ge recycled, and/or used as fuel for incinerators or power stations. Yes I know about the burning produces CO2, but there are filters that can remove other air pollutants.
Building Solar power farms reduces potential farm land. Wind farms require a connection terminal on every turbine, a 4 turbine power station (coal, gas or nuclear) only requires one terminal to the mains, all turbines go into one terminal.
Then cable routing. Bring your cables onshore at an existing point. In East Anglia we have Sizewell, and Bacton with existing high power cables running to the National grid. Use that as your point to bring the wind farm cables onshore.
Public transport (and utilities) should not be privately owned; privatisation has seen services decline in quality, costs increase, and modernisation slowed or stopped. It has seen the increase in people driving to and from their destination. I would much prefer to use public transport, but cost is excessive, whether bus or train.

Wind power contributed 4% towards the amount we used yesterday.
I'm not against wind turbines but it's obvious they don't work when there is no wind.
We may to wait but this looks promising

The local retail park near me was gridlocked all around today, and there isn't one cycle lane....
I don't get the ‘just keep piling more cars onto the roads' argument. It's ridiculous. We HAVE to provide a safe, greener alternative wherever possible, otherwise cities will just become gridlocked pollution-fests. It's not a conspiracy, it's common sense. The cities with the best cycling infrastructure have the most cyclists commuting, and the majority of those are each taking a car off the roads.
And what's with people in cars (almost always one person per car) always blaming cyclists and cycle lanes for the congestion they're sat in...oh the irony.

Common sense indeed. The caveat here is that it doesn't seem to be that common.

Forgetting about Oxford for a moment.
Is it common sense to gentrify an area where councillors, ex MPS and people of influence live, an area where there is high car ownership and high property prices. Then close off their roads and divert the traffic, cause gridlock to an area where poorer people live and there is low car ownership. An area where Ella Adoo-Kissi-Debrah who used to live previous to the scheme before pollution helped to kill her and that was put on her death certificate. This area is now worse.
A scheme that her mum Rosamund who's a clean air campaigner is against.
Do you think common sense has been applied to this scheme?

I see new lighter, longer, efficient turbine blades are being produced by the experts. You'll have to find a high voltage expert on storage to put you straight on wind conditions.
Apparently we've been exporting electricity to nuclear France this week

I was being sarcastic, you seem to mention it a lot. Get over it, lots of people have disabilities and dont keep bringing it up. People always seem to expect others to do things, but come up with excuses why they personally cant. Bit like MP's.
No pain, no gain...

As you say we have to provide greener alternatives wherever possible but don't be greenwashed.
I don't have any problem with well designed and well used cycle lanes. I do have a problem with badly designed and hardly used cycle lanes that cause pollution.
Maybe the cycle lanes where you are just painted lines on the road, the sort that vehicles can pull over to allow emergency services to pass. I'm talking about segregated dual lane cycle lanes where that's not possible. It's not nice to have an ambulance with blues and twos behind you and you can't let them pass, especially when the cycle lane to your left is empty.
That's ok according to Mal though, as he says they'll only be waiting outside when they eventually get to the hospital anyway.
Is using public transport a good idea, should we encourage people to leave their cars at home and take the bus? You won't do that by removing bus lanes and putting the bus in amongst the other traffic. I'm also against designs that allow bus passengers to alight a bus into a cycle lanes, that's dangerous.
How about a pay per mile system. For the amount of driving I do I could probably afford it, anyone like that idea?

I so love people like you.
I hate to tell you this, but in this country, people with disabilities are being ignored, made fun of or expected to do as non disabled people are. Within work and my own time I have taken a number of disability awareness courses, for helping guests, customers and staff.
The number of times I see cars parked in disabled spaces, when the owner is not disabled, people taking the mickey out of deaf or Autistic people who have speech impediments.
About the only disabled people who get respect seems to be the blind, but even they struggle at times.
If I have to keep explaining things to you, YOU are part of the problem.
Your comment 'no pain, no gain' is not in the least bit amusing because pain is a constant. Pain that codeine, ibuprofen and paracetamol won't solve or reduce
No matter what disability, visible or not, everyone should be able to be allowed to partake in society. If that means I have to drive into town because I need to reduce walking distance.
.
Years ago, when I was 'normal', (open to debate), I would walk or cycle, happily use the bus or train, now that is impossible. In fact to get to work at Ufford Park I used to walk or cycle to Ipswich railway station, get the train to Melton, then work or cycle to work. The same journey in reverse to get home. Only 2 years ago!
It was actually almost as fast as driving, in fact at times if the Orwell Bridge was jammed up, faster.

I wasn't being flippant. I was making the point that middle England gets outraged because an ambulance is delayed by a protest or by a load of cars (not cycles) in congestion but they'll continue to ignore the everyday debacle of ambulances queued outside hospitals.
It's always the 'go to' story to create division. Want the public to hate the protesters / traffic control measures?Tell them an ambulance was delayed. But for gods sake don't give the nurses, A and E triage staff or ambulance drivers a fair pay rise eh?
My wife helped an older lady who had slipped on the ice this morning. After 17 attempts trying to get through they were told there was no chance of an ambulance and could she make her own way to hospital or call 111. No LTN or cycle lanes to blame.
Congestion and pollution problems are down to too many cars and too many people refusing to change. That's why the air is so clogged up. You keep saying that LTN just moves 'the problem' somewhere else. Maybe some better focus on the actual 'problem' that exists might be a solution.

You really are ignorant.
I don't make myself a victim. I'd much rather not be having to claim disability, I'd much rather be able to work. Your arguments have ignored those with disabilities, their reasons, you have tried to stomp right over them, trying to make yourself look big.

I agree ambulances outside hospitals is intolerable but lets not make it worse by implementing badly designed traffic schemes. Perhaps you don't have any near you, good for you. It's not nice having an ambulance up your arse and there's nothing you can do about it.
Have you not read my previous posts. Please don't make me have to repeat the same thing all the time. I'm only against badly designed schemes, when i have ever said we should maintain the status quo
The thread may have gone off fishing but it's still broadly about traffic schemes such as the one in Oxford.
NHS pay rises is way off topic IMO, I've been accused of high jacking this thread already so I won't be discussing pay and conditions here.

This thread surely needs to be locked now.
Frothey I don't know you or what disability you have (or if you do have one) but just remember that other disabled people may be able to do less (or far more) than you, so just because you can do something it doesn't necessarily mean that others who can't are just lacking in effort. Not all disabilities are equal and the 'same disability' may affect people who are outwardly the same in a very different manner.

I've certainly made my point.
I've been running a thread in Non Carp about the corruption and the social injustices with some of the recent traffic schemes brought under the guise of Social distancing, active travel, fighting climate change greenwashing
Whether people believe me or not I've seemed to have reached a wider audience in a few days here than many months in Non Carp.
From my experience there are some people who genuinely want to improve air quality and others who use it to implement nimby schemes to satisfy themselves.
