Every now and then I look at the Johnson Ross new product tab, today takes the biscuit. Buzzbox coffee bags, (camo packaging of course) 10 coffee bags £6.50 from an unknown brand inclusive of carp tax.
Taylors of Harrogate in Asda (respected brand, sadly no camo) £2.75 for 10.
I like JR bought a lot off them but come on, show some self respect have a bit of decency, just another greedy ******* fleecing the punter? I know its peronal choice bla bla.
There really must be one born every minute.

I wouldn't worry about JR, they are there to make a living, It's more laughable thinking about the people that buy them, but each to their own of course
Pastime has changed dramatically, no longer about the fish for a lot of people, that's just a byproduct of being sat there, it's all about having the right gear and image and people will pay ridiculous amounts to “be there”

Wolfe carp fishing coffee, what a joke. Just trying to mug the anglers off with stuff they don't need. Taylor of Harrogate less than half this cost

Only takes a quick look at the threads on here to see where' fishing' is for many people. The main concern seems to be whether or not a phone or laptop can be charged 10 times.
Next up is buying a barrow that walks ten ton of camping equipment to a lake on it's own.
Then, which is the best toy boat? Why take the time and pleasure to learn to how to do it all properly? That would waste valuable screen time.
I can't comprehend a time when I might use a whole battery charge on my phone or want to look at a laptop while fishing. The point for me is to get away from all that rubbish.
But, each to their own I guess. They are lining plenty of pockets.
People moan all the lakes are packed, then most of the people taking up the swims spend the whole time looking at a screen.

Similar to me. Makes we wonder what some people get out of it other than debt too, but each to their own, there's a marketplace, they test it and get away with it sadly, but that's peoples choices, not mine
Anybody for camo coffee

I record sets of a certain exercise then watch it back, I do this as I find it really useful for trying to improve my form and make sure I'm doing something good for my back instead of bad. Once I've watched the video I delete it.
And if you want to say can't you tell from feeling it? Well kind of, but not properly as its new to me so the video feedback is exceptionally useful. Once I'm confident I'm constantly nailing the form I won't need to record it.
Luckily I don't go to a gym where people are filming everything but there is a place in exercise for video feedback on technique, look at climbing, swimming, tennis etc. Not everyone's filming themselves to check out their physique and post it on instagram.

Well, you could look at it another way....
Nowadays with all the working from home shenanigans some people now work on the bank with their laptops.......
If you listen to the radio or podcasts via an app that tanks the phone battery as well, you don't necessarily need to be on Netflix to flatten the battery......
Toy boats they may be but that didn't stop TH using one to catch the Parrot or SL to catch the Burghfield Common, just saying........
Oh and let us know what you think about Power Barrows when you're a bit older and your backs completely ****ed

I remember the days when you'd get all the stuff for a few days fishing on your back.
And much prefer the (motorised) barrow that I use now. Even when not carrying much on a day session. My back loves me for it too,
There's a bit of snobbery around motorised barrows, yet you don't see it in (for example) golf, where a golf bag is waaaaaaaaaaaaay lighter than what we take. And most of the people are just s fat!

I'd say it's more the instant carpers that have popped up in the last 4/5 years that are the stupid ones. Look at the prices they're paying for clothing from brands like omc, just because they're sheep to Ali Hamidi.

This proves nothing lol. Absolute idiotic tunnel vision. Loads of industries are thriving, where people are cutting back in more extravagant ways to spend money, and then for instance, spending more money on DIY.
This is like a pub claiming there's no crisis as they have more customers than ever.....when their used to be 5 other pubs in the local area that have closed.
It's the people right at the bottom of the chain who are hit the hardest. Those vulnerable people the daily mail are telling you are the problem.

How many people have credit cards and are willing to chuck hundreds on a card just to change the look of their living room? Plenty. Just like many are willing to spent ten times that to have "73" on their number plate. Human beings are shallow, and many would rather pay money for an image than substance.
Coffee shops, Nail Bars, Pubs & Restaurants are busy due to our addiction to substances, our addiction to our image, our addiction to fast food, and this countries inability to stop money laundering (but that's a different story).
People pay 800 quid on Barrows because we've had 20 years of everything being made easier for us, and if people are spunking 400 notes per month on an Audi they'll never own, they won't batter an eyelid on a 800 quid gadget. The days of cheque spreads are long gone now, and it's far easier to stick tackle on a Klarna or a Pay in Three.
The tackle shops and tackle "developers" that adapted to the 2023 mindset of sell, sell, sell and embraced modern tech will survive long into the future as long as they tap into the thought process of modern society. Angling Direct and others with modern and functional EPOS and Ecommerce has absolutely rinsed the market, whilst other shops who relied on print media died along with the 95% of magazines. I still need to pick up some of the train spotting magazines in WHSmith and find out how the hell they can survive, yet the print media promoting 400 quid rods cannot.

I honestly didn't think I had to explain it..
In the last year my mortgage went up over 50%, all my household bills have gone up, diesel has settled at constantly over £1.50 a litre. And the job I was in last year, we were very lucky to receive a 2.5% pay rise.
The cost of living, the things you need to buy to live, has gone up astronomically., but wages haven't.
Of course lots of people have cut back on extravagant spending, holidays, eating out. Jist because you or your family has t had to, doesn't mean it isn't effecting others.
Have your bills not gone up?

Yes my bills have gone up, food, lecky and gas.
What's your definition of lots? The holiday business certainly isn't in crisis?
Eating out, probably down but i bet the takeaway sector is healthy, nothing in crisis around here on both counts.
I dont even think the things you mention would be classed as extravagant in this day and age, a brand new A Class Merc on tick as a first car, thats extravagant.
Now heres what does stand out on this thread, its the Left leaning that buy into this crisis ********, is it because you're easily lead? Belive what you read in the Guardian and the Mirror ? You clearly hate Daily Mail reader's.
There is no benefit to a government or businesses to have you believe theres a crisis, its the circle of life, everyone has ups and downs just as mortgage rates have, did you post on here about how good the government was and how great life was when interest rates were at there lowest in generations? Of course you didnt.
You still have not posted any proof of a widespread cost of living crises, links to record repossessions maybe? Multiple brands and chains going under? The building industry on its knees? A housing crash ? Are Netflix, Amazon and Sky (all extravagant spends) in crisis?
Are all the Gyms shutting their doors?
Diesel round here, £1.44.7 has been for quite a while.
PS, you're opening line, i didnt ask you to explain it i asked you to prove it, there's a difference.

Yes of course there is a massive cost of living crisis and how anyone can argue differently is bonkers.
The problem we have (and don't know if it's UK specific) but inflation kills us, everyone ups prices to try and stay afloat - then we need pay to rise and the whole circle is counter productive. But just to get somethings off my chest and not a dig at anyone;
I believe fishing tackle increases are in part down to resale and second hand markets in general. In my day (old school) the only way you could sell was a card in a post office window or the anglers mail classified. I would think that meant that the fishing companies of the day sold loads as the ease of eBay, marketplace etc. weren't there so everyone in my day had a happy hooker sling that was purchased off the shelf.
Instant carpers have meant the need for more online retailers and the ease of price comparisons, so nobody with half a brain cell should moan about carp tax or rebranded tat. You can find out all you need in three clicks, then Make your choice.
You also have huge alternatives so can shop to budget very easily. You may not have the brand name you want, but aside from some essentials that won't inhibit you catching.
Motorised barrows aren't contentious in my opinion. They help me fish better and it is definitely the best purchase I have made in many a year. I mainly fish days, refine down my gear but with water, mat and chair there is no way I could do what I did 40 years ago. They are not bait boats or baiting poles, they make the doable tenacious attitude easier, now if you could sat nav them and self drive maybe!
Lastly - try wherever possible to support the shops, they are the lifeblood of angling, the place where advice is not just free but given to dads and lads with encouragement and local know how.
Instant carpers aren't the issue, it's just that they haven't been given the opportunities we/I had, I can tell you now, you go into any decent tackle shop and they shouldn't be selling bags of round balls, but maggots, floats and hooks to nylon to ensure the magic happens quickly - not the dull boredom of sitting behind rods.
My personal cost of living crisis is about the kids at uni - petrol to far away lakes and syndicate fees that I now think harder about.
If something looks a rip off - it won't last - I promise, the world is too smaller place now for people to rebadge, coffee, candles and the like. It's either short term or people see the value.
Apologies for the long rant, but sat here behind 3 baits placed out by satellite navigation, hands free, in my eco heat retaining bivvy, whilst watching some of the globes finest porn, reminds me why I enjoy our outdoor pursuit. Ive gotta go as just rehooking a 40 (absolutely gutted as I paid for 50s) and trying to get a magic twig to release as gonna get some pukka underwater shots. I'm not sponsored but I do get my bait for £2 a ton and have a really fancy hat...

I would say, while costs have gone up we're still managing to get by, the tougher times for many will come next year, how bad who knows..
If you look at all house purchases this year a third were cash buyers, in London 75% houses sold were to cash buyers so there is still a lot of cash about it's just whether those folk will stop spending next year which will affect the economy more.

If 75% of London property sales this year were paid in cash, then it wasn't British people buying it. The cost of living crisis is a little closer to home than Russian and Chinese oligarchs monopolising the bricks and mortar in one of the most expensive cities on the planet.
Mind The Gap.

Im talking about Russians and Chinese buying off plan on building projects in London.
Multi multi million pound projects built by the top developers in London, Berkeley Homes, Galliards etc etc.
The properties were bought prior to being built and sold just prior to topping out.
Starting point on one project i was on was 400k on the ground floor top floor apartments (32 floors in all) went for millions, probably half a billion over all.
They never lived in them, they never chose a fixture or fitting, churned their iffy money and made 10%.
They haven't been around for a couple of years now. Lot of Asian and Yank money now.
There are some huge apartment projects coming out the ground in London right now.
It does make me laugh when Lefty's like RKB post the crap they read in the Mirror etc when in reality they are clueless. Hes already had 2 ❤️ from the fellow clueless, suits their narrative though doesn't it.
Im talking about Russians and Chinese buying off plan on building projects in London.
Multi multi million pound projects built by the top developers in London, Berkeley Homes, Galliards etc etc.
The properties were bought prior to being built and sold just prior to topping out.

"It's not foreign money buying the properties, it's actually all being bought by foreign money"

It's still around chap, I've spent the last 20 years working on those type of projects aswell as single propertiesand I know full well a portion of them are still on russian money. It's not just the mansions they are still buying!

You can tell when the second crate of stella has been cracked open as the lefty and the Daily Mirror "insults" start leaking out onto the screen.

The Russians and Chinese are still here, they just needed to adapt. We may have got rid of the 'Gold Plated' Tier 1 investor visas, but they just come in on working visas and their kids are here on 'Global talent' visas as Daddy paid for them to go to elite Universities. The Indians are streaming in by the tens of thousands on 'skilled worker' visas to look after our elderley yet cannot care for them properly because they aren't required to speak English or have any experience.
This countries attitude to the labour market and investment is a sick form of self harm.

Was chatting with an Afghan yesterday. He travelled all the way to Germany and he said the German Gov was actively encouraging any new arrivals to travel onwards to France, Switzerland and the UK by buying them train tickets out of Germany to anywhere in the Schengen that they wanted to go to. Albanians have been doing the same for the last ten years but by operating OCG's moving both their countrymen and others fleeing war or seeking work. Now its the Indians and Iranians, and South Americans with money who cannot be bothered to walk through Mexico to the US.
But thats a whole different topic for another day

Not sure about that, but they'll at least get to your front door quicker. Sales of Honda PCX Mopeds have gone through the roof...

Hi mate, just wondering if there anything else we all clearly don't know? I was hoping to understand a bit more about the world but just can't make sense of it from all the newspapers owned by communists. Should we be blaming the price of camo tea bags on lefties or foreign but not foreign property developers? And if we buy the tea bags does that mean we're in favour of privatising the NHS? I've tried looking on Rueters but it doesn't say whether I should be drinking new world or European wine so any help there would be appreciated as well.
