I follow quite a lot of tackle companies, and getting really fed up being bombarded with stupid gimmicky products. I know I could unfollow them , sometimes they come up with some really good ideas . What's the worse product do you think as been put out there . I'll start for it was the avid but rests , no more than a deodorant cap to stand your rod in 😩.

The company Ali Hamidi is running brought out some box thing to attached to your rod so you could leave your lead and rig made up .
It just looked big and pointless to me .. 3-4 of them would take loads of room up when not in use .

I did this well over 30 years ago ,cutting a foam tennis ball in half ,like a clam,lead inside ,rig wrapped around the outside..
Worked well that did..

I bought a runway. But put my bushwhacker sections on it. I dont get gritt and mud in the joints. Bivvy pegs stop the sections rolling off in the wind.

Personally I like looking at it, yep even me..!As I shake my head in mock disbelief that it gets bought..
Best tip I learnt is only buy what you need ,rather than want..when I go fishing,which is rather a lot,..I only take with me what I need or use..saves weight,and keeps you less skint..
I look at it this way,some one has 200 floats,but really only uses one or two..,sort of analogy 🤔

I struggle to leave a tackle shop with out a couple to bring home and stick in float tubes
Then when I fish with floats I always pick the favourites or my old man's that I inherited.

I found the fox bubble level the one that is just unbelievable for leveling your bank sticks.. At £7....
You want one you can get five on eBay for £5.. There is really so much rubbish you can buy that in my opinion is unnecessary like a magnet that sticks in the ground to hold the hook as you cast out a zig.. I could go on as to me the list of gear out there that is just pointless is getting bigger year on year

I totally agree it is good that there is people out there coming up with fantastic ideas. But the point I'm making is they ain't always going to invent something that is really good , ie the heli clip . So what there doing is bringing out **** that no one really needs. I just think they seem to think we are gullible enough to buy it .

I have a problem with hooks. I cannot leave a tackle shop with out trying out a new pattern or slightly different size. I must have £££'s of packets of 8 or 9 hooks that I will keep just in case.
I had a similar thing when every company started releasing a coated braid. £11 a pop but I had to see if I'd finally found the perfect suppleness, stiffness, stripabilty, colour, diameter, strength. Thankfully I've settled on the Nash stuff for a few years now.

The best one yet when omc give you a half sneaky peek at there new hooks , big Ming them up like it's going to change the world. And when you actually see them they are no different to any other pattern of hook . Erm we do know that they are made by the same manufacturer in China.

When I was at the lake last there was a guy turned up with camo seat covers in his VW transporter. Pretty sure they're not catching him any more fish!
On the other side of the coin - different lake, different club, there's a fella always turns up from work wearing bright orange PPE trousers. Catches loads.

If only, and porcelain mug instead of plastic or stainless thermal as porcelain retains heat and doesn't taint the taste like other materials. Porcelain plate and bowl would be good, take bank ware in a new direction.
