Get on Flightradar24, US B52's going over the Southwest of the UK most nights this week, 2 last night and 1 just now. you can also see unmanned US drones flying around Ukraine.

Loads of private jets flying West out of Ukraine in the last 48 hours too. The US must have an aircraft carrier somewhere Southeast of Malta seeing some of the aircraft flying around there.

Sanctions...

Targeting banks with Russian links. Luckily Rees Moggs investment firm sold their shares in Sberbank a few weeks ago... that's fortunate eh? Imagine if they'd been unaware of the potential to lose millions.

Obviously they're still benefitting from Russian gas and oil profits.

And Chinese pharmaceuticals...

I work in the pharmaceutical industry and more and more companies are avoiding the likes of china and India and now what there drugs made in the UK or America. Our order books have went through the roof since our Indian owners sold us to a British company, we cant keep up and our order books are full for the next two years.

Just send the SAS in and shoot that **** Putin. Quite clear he will not stop here either

See there are a few protesters in Moscow, I take my hat off to them but I feel for them too, poor souls, i am sure they will be dealt with in traditional Russian fashion

So what now? Obviously engaging the Russians will only bring armageddon to the world, Nato itself is very very strong, but I would doubt anyone will seriously want to be the one to say ok let's go and hit the Russians. The Ukrainians are asking for help and without it I cant see them holding out. The sanctions wont be a quick fix, so there will be some pretty dark days ahead.

Ukraine has long been on putins 'to do' list. It seems like he's fixed on restoring what he sees as the old soviet union. That in mind, I can't see him wanting to spread wider. But... who knows? He's a very big loose cannon.

Interested to hear Boris mentioning sberbank shares falling as a 'win' in his speech last night . Didn't mention that his mate Rees mogg sold his shares in it a few weeks back... Still looking after themselves first.

Someone who understood the Russian mindset, George Kennan said:

"The jealous and intolerant eye of the Kremlin can distinguish, in the end, only vassals and enemies, and the neighbors of Russia, if they do not wish to be one, must reconcile themselves to being the other.”

I see no change from those days to the Putin mindset unfortunately.

You do talk ********.

Anyone can have shares in Russian companies, I've had them in my stocks and shares ISA at times. Secondly anyone with half a brain could see the writing on the wall and would of ditched anything that would attract sanctions.

And finally, do you know which companies/countries your teachers pension is invested in? No you dont.

Stick to what you know best marking the homework and playground duty rather than your Lefty agenda the majority have no time for.

I have a theory that Putin could well be in Ill heath, and that this is sort of one last push to have his memory go down in Russian folklore, and that the only way he could be stopped is to take him out directly, not sure whether Nato would have the stomach to do it, or the repercussions of doing it, just a theory though

One for the conspiracy theorists...

UK bans aeroflot
Russia responds saying its unfriendly
Russia bans British Airways planes from Russia airspace

Meanwhile... British Airways computer systems develop problems resulting in cancellation of flights...

Cyber tactics?

All of what we're seeing happening in Ukraine is because of the West's constant meddling.

The invitation by Bush and Cheney in the 90's to Ukraine to join NATO after it's split from Russia. Aiding and abetting the overthrow of the pro Russian leader of Ukraine for a sock puppet of the West (read as American sock puppet) recent speeches by the current leader of Ukraine to have nuclear weapons and not a single voice piped up to stop such insanity... right on Russia's doorstep.

I'll pose the question here: how would we react in England if pro Russian forces were in Wales making the same noises that the Ukraine government are?

I would rather have seen Ukraine become a neutral country and Russian fears be alleviated and had not come to this point, it would have been the best outcome for everyone, but alas no, American interests must be served, right, right to the point of collapsing everything? By imposing all of these sanctions on Russia, ignoring their legitimate claims of security, the removal of Russian banks from the Swift system will not only move Russia away from Western banking - the Indians are setting up clearing houses to trade with Russia which will negate Swift altogether and have other countries like China swerve Swift also - the other important point is that having removed Russia from Swift, it will cause the collapse of the western system as we know it part due to the effects on sovereign debt which the Fed has been warning about; the ramifications of all of this are massive.

Something else worth noting is that when Russia does eventually take over Ukraine, from what I'm hearing, because the Russians are being pushed out of Western banking circles, Russia will hold all of the cards when it comes to agriculture. We could see the price of wheat going to 300% of it's current price. Right now because of what is happening in Ukraine, the price per bushel of wheat is at an all time high. So not only are we just recovering from the effects of COVID, the sky high prices on oil and gas, now food could go to the moon, all because the West just couldn't help themselves by poking the Bear with a sh4tty stick.

I've never understood why we have always treated Russia in the way that we have, after all, Russia was an ally in WWII that helped smash the Nazi war machine, instead, ever since WWII Russia has been the bad apple in the basket. Sure, Stalin was an insane lunatic and all that came with the Soviet era, I won't argue that, all the same, the sheer disrespect and bullying tactics shown to Russians over the years is to my mind possibly one of the worst things our elitist masters could have ever done; in essence, it's the West that has become a tyrannical force imposing it's will on others wether they like it or not and care not one jott of the repercussions to a large extent.

It's always someones elses fault. The bloke is an absolute fruitcake. He knew exactly what Nato would do if he invaded the Ukraine, this wasnt done on a whim this would have been years in the making, so what Nato have done is not a surprise.
Now that his best paratroopers and special elite have let him down, he is ratcheting up the anti, forget all the ******** of missiles on doorsteps, as the USA and Russia are only split by a body of water of 40 miles, he is now well and truly throwing his toys out the pram, and when that happens by someone who is as deranged as him it could be a dangerous place for the world. Even if he uses a nuke on someone, he knows he'll have nukes thrown back at him, some humans are vile, him more than most

Charging my Iron Man suit up as I type.

This could have all been avoided, yet the maniacs dictating in our European countries and the US have clearly proven to be the school yard bullies/World Police that they are. For years Russia took being poked in the eyes, now it's abundantly clear to anyone that they have had enough of it and are taking steps to address their genuinely held grievances. Russia will suffer inflation due to having their central bank targeted by way of sanctions, which if the analysts are correct, they'll be able to ride it out, for example their stockpiles of gold which they've been buying up for a long time now which will come in to play to help offset any difficulties.

We will suffer, the price of oil/gas/food is going to rocket, some unfortunately are going to be hit really hard, all because they (our overlords) decided to go at Russia full steam ahead.

There is hope, hope that some sort of agreement can be thrashed out and that the Ukrainian government will come to it's senses and go the way of being a neutral country as I've previously suggested.

I didn't think that Russia would ever invade Ukraine, that came as a huge surprise to me that they did, the fact that Putin has now said that he's essentially hovering over the nuclear buttons, our misleaders need to take him very seriously indeed. We're all at a very frightening juncture in time, one would hope that the fools running our countries don't make any fatal mistakes that could get us all killed.

Again utter tosh, no one has been poking anyone, weve been living in europe in pretty much perfect harmony, except russia invading the Crimea, and russia invading the provinces of Ukraine, and now a full scale invasion of Ukraine. Blame the west as much as you want, but, theres no missiles, no war that Putin want you to believe in, that's no Nato, it believes in peace, in fact they've done particularly well not to sanction russia for their 2 invasions of Ukraine. One person is responsible for what is going on, and now in my view needs to be eliminated by whatever means

Wondered how long it would be before the sympathisers arrived.
Russia has been "cleansing" the Ukraine for centuries.
He has invaded without the full backing of his military in a half cocked manner with inexperienced personnel who are throwing down their arms because they refuse to kill their neighbours. Over 4000 dead or injured after being met with a very stiff and under estimated Ukrainian army.
He has no chance of winning in this manner against 30 million people armed with guns and superior grit in a guerrilla war through the streets of Ukraine. The only way he will win is to bomb the granny out of it. If he chooses that way he will continue to alienate Russia from the rest of the world.
He is embarrassing Russia in the eyes of the world. The citizens will eventually no longer stand for it. You can bet your life that even within his circle there are people plotting to have him 'removed.'

He is a dead man walking!

First off the whole thing stinks.

As always, innocent people killed and lives ruined because of selfish, greedy politicians.

Putin is a bully and a warmonger. And he has been allowed to be for years by a series of British, US and European governments who have not just facilitated his behaviour but have actively rewarded it.

Make no mistake about what's behind the 'outrage ' from various world leaders. It's about money and resources. Russia and Ukraine are responsible for a huge percentage of oil, gas and wheat production and supply. On the basic hierarchy of needs we are talking about warmth and sustenance. So putin wants to control more of it. And others don't want him to.

The stance / sanctions/ sending of 'lethal aid' isn't about protecting people. If it was, then Boris, Biden and the rest wouldn't stand by while war and the wider effects continue to destroy lives in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen etc.

We can only hope that putin doesn't completely lose it and actually use a nuclear weapon.

No point us all arguing about it here. Pray for the people of Ukraine and for the 'leaders' to see some sense.

If I were Ukrainian I'd have left before, or certainly at the start of the current conflict.
What will all those women and children have to come back to when the soldiers/armed civilians are all dead and the schools, hospitals, homes and infrastructure are all obliterated?
I'm not sure what the difference is between watching Ukrainian people be slaughtered and nuking the living **** out of Russia to hopefully kill Putin at the cost of Russian civilian lives.
As I've said I don't know enough to comment on finer details but resistance seems pretty futile tbh. The option was there to walk away with nothing but their lives, instead they stand to lose everything but their pride.. which is no good when you're 6 feet under the ground

But they arent necessarily fighting for their lives, they are fighting for their way of life, fighting for their children and their children children, they know what itll be like if the Russians gain control, you only have to look at the protests in russia to know what itll be like, literally everyone is bearing arms from the president to the standard citizen.

Taken from my linked article of Putin's Empire of Lies speech

"I will begin with what I said in my address on February 21, 2022. I spoke about our biggest concerns and worries, and about the fundamental threats which irresponsible Western politicians created for Russia consistently, rudely and unceremoniously from year to year. I am referring to the eastward expansion of NATO, which is moving its military infrastructure ever closer to the Russian border.

It is a fact that over the past 30 years we have been patiently trying to come to an agreement with the leading NATO countries regarding the principles of equal and indivisible security in Europe. In response to our proposals, we invariably faced either cynical deception and lies or attempts at pressure and blackmail, while the North Atlantic alliance continued to expand despite our protests and concerns. Its military machine is moving and, as I said, is approaching our very border.

Why is this happening? Where did this insolent manner of talking down from the height of their exceptionalism, infallibility and all-permissiveness come from? What is the explanation for this contemptuous and disdainful attitude to our interests and absolutely legitimate demands?"

Ukraine to become a neutral country would be the best outcom for everyone.

Unfortunately, despite the current peace talks going on, I've seen news that the leader of Ukraine has just signed the paperwork asking to join the EU. If these news reports turn out to be true, this could turn in to a real sh4tshow, not like it isn't already.

I think it was a mistake of Putin to invade Ukraine, although, I can see why he and his cabinet gave it the green light. As I've said before and will continue to do so, all of this could have been avoided if Western powers would have taken Russian concerns into account and acted positively and constructively to resolve Russian serious agitations.

It's not up to Putin to decide other countries foreign policies, and certainly not an all out war with a country that doesn't agree with his agenda, regardless what he has said about Nato and the US, what he is doing now is inexcusable

It's a bit more complicated than what you allude to. Take for instance the pro Russian leader of Ukraine that was ousted by America essentially and installed their current puppet and the likes within the Ukrainian Government, I mean, in 2014 when the pro Russian bloke got toppled, an American was put in charge (non Ukrainian decent) of Ukrainian finance - Natalie Jaresko. Ukraine is being played by America.

I'll not justify what Putin has done, although I can grasp why he has acted as he has. You've also got to consider that Ukraine is the birth place of the Slavic people and was the capital of the greater Russia before the capital was moved to Moscow. 50% of the people speak Russian.

Again, as I've already alluded to, how would England and the powers that run England react if pro Russian forces were rocked up in Wales?

Edited to add: when America and it's "allies" - the later read as pawns - invaded Iraq despite no UN resolution to do so, where was the united condemnation, the sanctions, the limiting of flight paths, the same with Afghanistan, Syria, Libya...you name it?

Correction: Ukrainian finance minister in 2014 wasn't Janet Newland, it was in fact Natalie Jaresko.

Unless you've been in another galaxy for the last 20 years Putin has done plenty of expansion at the barrel of a gun. Permanent military port and facilities in the Med at Latakia, Syria A reward for propping up another dictator with Russian firepower Assad. Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Chechnya, Armenia etc all had Russian boots on the ground to influence the direction of the populations. Mali, Mozambique, CAR etc all crawling with armed Russians under the mercenary banner of the Wagner group (controlled ultimately by Putin)
Luhansk, Donetsk for the last 8 years with hardly an attempt at hiding their presence.
His fight is against democracy getting nearer to Russian borders. There's no excuses for him TC and apologists for him are as bad.

Edit for your edit in #73:
All those you mention are/were dictators, religious fanatics living in a kleptocracy. Hardly the worlds finest.

Nice try

Georgia war: 224 dead
Kazakhstan: allies of Russia
Belarus: allies of Russia
Chechnya war II: 25,000 to 200,000 civilian dead plus 8,000 to 40,000 Russian military
Armenia: allies of Russia

Now let's look at just one war the US & friends took part in some 19 years or so ago shall we...

The last time I looked (years ago) Iraq 1.5 million dead as a result of the illegal invasion that took place on a lie of Weapons of Mass Destruction. No-one would say that Saddam was Mr nice, that was for the people of his country to decide his outcome or an international court, not the US and friends with their liberal sprinkling around the place of dupleted uranium, insurgents all over the show, millions of displaced peoples...shall I continue?

Libya for instance was a fully functional society, Libyans had a high standard of living due to their near sweet oil, Gaddafi was bonkers, there's no denying that, although he was a convenient friend of the UK when they needed him for some bidding, that was until he (Gaddafi) wanted to create an African denomination that would be a rival to the petrodollar, and just like that, he was dead.

Syria has always been allied to Russia, Russia was invited in to help stem the pro western backed forces smashing the country to pieces, hell, even Israel got in on the act and was treating ISIS wounded terrorists in Israeli hospitals much to the horror of senior Israeli army generals...if memory serves me correctly that was posted in Jerusalem Post May 15th 2015.

Putin didn't fight the Afghans, the Russians were asked in the 70's by the barely functional government of Afghanistan to help them with the waring warlords. The Americans helped form, fund and arm the Afghan Mujahideen (Mujahideen, then became Al Qaeda, then became ISIS) which was codenamed Operation Cyclone and the brainchild of Zbigniew Brzezinski to use as proxies to fight the Russians.

Hi All,

Interesting thread.
Pity the West is only prioritising Russia with sanctions.
Oligarchs and vors operate throughout the region, and yes, there are both Ukrainian Oligarchs and vors as much as Russia has in the region as does Belarus.
Pumping God knows how much currency into such a corrupt region for me beggars belief. Ethiopia? (Charity donations could have bought the country 3 times over)
My friends and family are being bombed and threatened, I wear the poppy every year, and I'm pretty sure the slogan is "lest we forget"
That's me done
Best

Interesting facts

A LITTLE GUN HISTORY

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

56 million defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control:

You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.

Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.

With guns, we are "citizens". Without them, we are "subjects".

During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!

If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.

SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

It's time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.

You're not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people.

Hi,

To Fred and Mal.

I understand both your arguments, but a fact you may both consider before carrying on is that 65% of the EE population are armed. My mother in law has an AK and Mrs Fubar was the second best grenade chucker in her school.
The NRA argument has no place in this whatsoever

Ukrainians will bear arms, and rightly so, I hope they beat the Russians back and cause a stalemate minimal. Can't see a way out there of this for Putin, be nice if he would top himself but I'm sure there will be some negotiating along the way

Zelensky might capitulate if the body count gets intolerable. As the leader he's responsible for the population. When does he run up the white flag to save further suffering to his people? He doesn't seem the maniacal type, unlike his opposite number so he will be considering behind the scenes and speeches.

Maybe, but I can't and never could see Putin wanting to draw this out.
That's part of the reason for the huge visible convoys of massive firepower. Clearly it shows they have nothing to fear from the Ukrainian air force so can move about in strength with impunity. Unlike the Ukrainian army that is clearly stuck in it's scattered position's unable to move to support each other. Gradually being degraded or obliterated.
Secondly it's a deliberate show to the Ukrainian population and Zelensky what's coming down the track at them.

From what analysts have made out is that as Russians have always viewed Ukrainians as fellow brothers, keeping that in mind is why Putin hasn't gone in like America does which includes flattening everything and anything that moves. From what has been observed, the Russian army has sought to keep civilian casualties as low as possible to keep them on side when the dust settles. The Ukrainian Army has been encircled - a typical Russian tactic of war - in the south of which the numbers are around 65,000.

I think the Ukrainian Army will be offered surrender with the Russian Army willing to wait it out. Similarly, Kiev has been encircled with the government given the opportunity to surrender. All the Russians will do again is just sit it out, control what goes in and out. Something worth noting is that phones and greater communications, electricity, sewage etc are still working given reports coming out of Ukraine.

"Will that carry on if this drags on?"

For me, I'd rather not make any predictions, more the case personal whishes and hopes, hopes that no more lives get lost on all sides; wishful thinking? Something that has come up is that the higher ups in both armies know each other well, have trained together, got drunk together. It could well turn out that an amicable agreement between the two armies can be found, given the circumstances with the losses of Ukrainian military and dealing with an invading army even if they do know each other would be very hard for the Ukrainians to stomach.

Something else that has been brought up is that Putin hasn't any interest in West Ukraine and has said that it should be handed back to Poland as the likes of Lviv, Poland are the rightful holders of that land and that Starlin should never have given it away to Ukraine many years ago, also, there is a big problem with Neo Nazis in Western Ukraine from what I gather and it's relatively ungovernable.

The Ukraine army were offered the chance to surrender from the off. The Russian tanks apparently had a white 'v' painted on them which the Ukraine troops could mimic and surrender without being fired upon if they wanted to.

I've not heard about that to be fair. I know that the Ukrainian Army has been asked to put down their arms so they can return to their families. It really doesn't surprise me that on the whole the offer wasn't taken up, after all, the army are trained to fight not taught at any point to surrender, just follow orders.

I can grasp why as a last ditch effort civilians were able to get armed, to be honest, that was a really bad idea, significantly different if those civilians are ex forces and know what they're doing with a weapon, a baker or candlestick maker, not so much. Heard that prisoners had been released early and able to take up arms only to end up killing innocents, also, rival gang members have been dispatching one another with newly acquired arms courtesy of the Ukrainian Government.

"But pretending the far right isn't an issue won't make it go away, and it won't stop people outside Ukraine from talking about it. I know that policymakers in Washington, DC, Berlin, London and Brussels, to name a few capitals, are more concerned about the issue of the far right in Ukraine than a lot of people might realise, even if these concerns don't always percolate out into public. The existence of a well armed, well trained, committed group of far-right extremists and friends is a factor in Ukraine's future, no matter what Putin decides to do in the next few weeks. When the most extreme fringes, for example, muse openly about making lists of “internal enemies” to be killed during the chaos of the first days of a full Russian invasion, refusing to pay attention shouldn't be an option."

What I do find strange is the West pick and choose their Nazi boi's as it suits. I mean, look at the accusations being made by politicians, talking heads and the likes with their finger pointing and constant fear mongering about the threat of the nigh on non existent 'Far Right', yet here is a real example of Neo Nazis that are "making lists"... crickets or Putin is clearly mad and just making it all up.

Do you lot honestly think not going toe to toe with Putin will have a happy ending ??

The man is on a mission as is China 🇨🇳 as they carefully watch this unfold .
As for Putin threatening the use of nukes he should be told to wind his neck in as we have them also .

Sitting back keeping out of it is really not an option .
We are just prolonging the inevitable.
The world is on edge .
Sometimes I think spinning up the nukes for a pre emptive tactical strike on Moskow would not be a bad thing as then we could have global thermo nuclear ☢️ war and cleanse mankind by taking us back to the Stone Age .
In reality when I hear the phrase that we are civilised it makes me cringe .
For two thousand years we have not really progressed from inflicting pain and war on our fellow humans .
Perhaps the solution would be to eradicate all carbon units from the planet as it seems mankind is just a virus 🦠
In just over 300 years mankind has turned a true miracle in the cosmos into a toilet 🚽.

So to sum up spin up the nukes and let's go to eradicate mankind as sooner or later it will happen not if but when .

Great book called prisoners of geography basically tells you why this is all unfolding... and to a extent fully predicted it.

For me the bigger question is why now? my guess is he is not well health wise (possibly terminally) and this is his punt to go down in history as the Russian who made it into the USSR again.

Also worth a read in that book as to why you would always want to be under the wing of the Americans when it comes to choosing sides....... there defence budget is more then the rest of the superpowers combined (until recently)

People don't want conflict Fred.
You can have as many guns as you like and put up a struggle but against a superpower, at some point you will be in Ukraine's position.. picking dead children from debris. Or dying from radiation poisoning maybe, that'd be nice.

Well, well, well,

Looks like there's been a turn of events behind the scenes. The Chinese are mediators trying to help broker an end to what's happening in Ukraine. Apparently the aim of any deal is to end Ukrainian attempts of membership of NATO, a recognition of the two breakaway regions and a Ukrainian Government.

The Russian rational with what is happening with the Russian Army with it stalled on the outskirts of Kiev and the encirclement of the Ukrainian Army in the East is to force the issue on the Ukrainian Government to obtain their capitulation.

Chinese diplomacy is stressing that this whole saga has been brought about by NATO's eastward expansion and has to cease for there to be lasting peace in Europe.

It now seems the case that European attempts at brokering a deal pre invasion was never ment the go anywhere and was in fact a stalling tactic and totally disingenuous from the outset. If the Chinese do eventually broker a deal signed and sealed, the US would have no involvement in that deal and would certainly be very unhappy about it.

The worry is Andy, there are some absolute lunatics baying for a no fly zone over Ukraine which isn't worth contemplating. I won't bother listing the names as that's not really that relivant, the problem being is there are some very hot heads that have caused big problems down the line like the removal of Russia which apparently has caused defaults which will unwind and have huge consequences, which funnily enough has brought those that sought the swift option and assault of Russia's central bank to try and reverse their decision by way of not excluding certain banks and attempting to undo the mess they've created - they were warned about this by Wall St, The Fed, German bankers etc that it was a big mistake.

The Chinese will broker no deal in this conflict TC. It'll be the US and the EU. The only deal brokered with Chinese mediation will be with a Putin puppet installed in Kyiv, Yanukovych?

Putin wants a quick, very quick end to this, with as many of his pre invasion goals met as possible.
It's clear that the insurgency if and when Zelensky tells the Ukrainian army to lay down their weapons will be horrendous for Russia. Totally ungovernable for the invading forces, bomb's, assassinations, hit squads ALL over a vast country. Highly motivated, well armed and supplied. Causing death and chaos daily. Vive la resistance.

Edit:#140 There's always people that win out of a war mate. Some short term, better off being the long term winner though

Call me cynical mate but...

They're going to sell to us. And everyone else they previously sold to once the dust settles and the various governments revert to type.

Boris might have got his hands on a few posh houses for his wealthy mates and some pesky foreigners might have their yachts moved on, but look at how putin was treated after his previous actions... contracts, major sports events, political influence (the UN security Council as an example)

Do you really think that huge pipeline through Germany isn't going to be resumed with Russian fuel at some point?

Is Essex going to become the breadbasket of the world overnight?

Like I said, it's cynical but even for someone who tries to see the best in people, I can't believe those in power will suddenly grow some integrity and morals.

I get the cynicism Mal, it's justified. Fact is they are still selling to us right now. Yes that will continue, but under our terms, for product's we can't source elsewhere for now. I was more getting at what extra can they make from stealing Ukrainian resources, whilst losing a lot of trade they already had, that made starting an horrific war seem the right thing to do.

It makes very little economic sense
It makes very little strategic sense.
It makes very little ideological sense.
So it must make geopolitical sense. To Putin.

Yes it has, that's not in question. It's the why now reason that's the unknown, can't see it being greater resources in Ukraine as you alluded to though mate.

Israel being used as a broker of peace is a smart move. A 3 hour meeting with Putin then straight to a meeting with Scholz and a call with Biden. Hopefully they can speed up an end to this grave situation.

I can only comment on what Putin has said, I'll never know his mind. From what Putin has said, the reasoning is that he wants to rid Ukraine of Nazis and stop Ukraine being a NATO stooge on Russia's doorstep.

I think it wise to watch some of Jimmy Dore's coverage on this this matter on YouTube. In essence, as I've been saying, this has all been crafted by America, specifically Victoria Nuland of the then US state dept - now current Under Secretary - who not only formented the coup in 2014, she also hand picked those to run Ukraine after the then president got toppled with recorded proofs...she was the one who said "f4ck the EU" during the coup.

Countless academics, intellectuals, policy advisors/makers, defence chiefs, you name it, they've all been warning not to agitate Russia in the way that they have, hell, even lunatics like Henry Kissinger have said don't do this. None of the advice has been listened to, it's been totally ignored, arms have been funneled in since before the coup in 2014, the neo Nazis have become part of the greater Ukrainian army, the Minsk Accord has been ignored by Ukraine, the neo Nazis are now saying they've got more Javelin missiles that the UK has sitting stockpiled.

All, absolute crap as usual.

Parroting these "excuses" just makes you look like one of Putin's lackeys.

The long and short of it is that he has illegally invaded a sovereign nation, he has killed countless innocent civilians and further destabilised an already fragile world. All this talk of NATO and Nazi's doesn't justify any of what he has done, and repeating it without proper thinking just plays into his hands. Stop it.

As for your link, I switched off after 5 seconds when Jimmy Dore said "The Ukraine" which either demonstrates his ignorance of the situation or that he aligns with Putin and is therefore not worth any time whatsoever.

Unfortunately you are being emotional which is clearly stoping you from being rational and applying logic on this subject. Just because the presenter uses the words "The Ukraine", coincidentally a poster on here uses that exact same phrase which i've not seen you condemn - doesn't matter a jot myself - facts are facts wether you like them or not and doesn't diminish those facts just because certain phrases are used outside of the content and context of those facts. Essentially you're employing ad hominem/logical fallacy argument.

I'll agree with you that Putin shouldn't have invaded as I've already said in previous posts of mine. What I've attempted to do in my posts on this matter is to try and give another view and opinion/balance thats not being widely circulated in the media which gives a different perspective as to Putin's 'why'. The Russians have always stated that NATO expansion into Ukraine is their "red line", this warning was ignored and as we see, these are the consequences.

I don't know where you're getting your information from, although I can take a very good guess; i'll ask you this: don't you think it wise to have a broad and varied spectrum of information, even if that information conflicts with other information so as to get the 'whole' picture, or best you can garner from that all gathered information?

I'll refer you back to Jimmy Dore as what he's been putting out recently is very good, very informative. and easy to digest, and most importantly check to see if that information is in fact true. Whilst I mention Jimmy Dore, something that I would like to say about him is that I disagree intensely on a lot of his political positions, I'm not a fan on the whole, just so we're clear. Funnily enough I wasn't aware of his recent content as I don't usually watch his stuff, it was a friend who told me about his most recent content and thought I'd share it here.

Look at what has been said. I posted earlier on it.

Maybe you think it's OK to say to the women and children who are fleeing their homes that they can apply for fruit picking jobs... i don't. Or that a promise to simplify visa applications for those with immediate family in the UK is appropriate help. I don't.

And braders, it was only a matter of time before that argument surfaced. As you know from previous versions of it from people with far less intelligence than you, I think it's a selfish point of view.

When abramovich offers the profits from the sale of Chelsea but Boris won't even broach the option of paying back the donations to the tory party then you know things aren't right

We will send them guns so they can die bravely but don't ask us to look after the innocent and defenceless

Surely this can't continue or the Ukrainians will have nothing left to fight for and might as well have laid down their arms and tried the democratic route out of a takeover or left?
I don't understand nor want to discuss the motives, but they will never win the fight and every day takes us a step closer to being nuked ourselves.

**** times. Just as the virus finally sods off, war breaks out in eastern Europe.

Poland are about to start giving their war planes to the Ukrainians... US are to replace Polands military aircraft, with brand new US planes.... How will Putin react to that? Clearly a large escalation is only just around the corner. Would Poland be next? What then?

China being pretty quiet in all of this. Would they back the Russians if war broke out? If the west let Putin conquer Ukraine, will China see it as an open invitation to invade Taiwan?

Poland isn't going through with handing over the Ukraine air force planes, they've (Poland) have called that one off. As for the US sending planes, that's still up in the air, pardon the pun.

I think it would be prudent to wait until all of this is over to see who is responsible for these civilian casualties. I say this as there's been numerous accusations of Russian and Ukrainian atrocities alike. What the truth of it actually all is, we may never find out the true culprits.

Boris is missing a spine
Macron has been checking his tanks have 5 reverse gears
The Germans are itching to take Leningrad and actually win this time

Shame Maggie and Bush are not in power as Putin would be toast .

How long before this blows up to full scale Armageddon.

I dont think pushing the west and russia into full blown nuclear war is actually "bottling it". No one wants it, apart from probably you for some strange reason.
I actually think we must be pretty close to the line in actually being drawn into this. I mean lots of our weaponry are killing russians, which Putin can not be happy about, and now the US sending migs over, we are certainly indirectly involved.

I believe that the US plan is to get the Ukrainians to stall for as long as possible so as to get a decent enough amount of arms like Javelin etc and then go at the Russians. The Pentagons plan as always is to arm and fund insurgent forces to try and pick away at the Russians as they've done many times, a shining example of this is what the Americans did in Afghanistan with the proxy forces they assembled.

The Russians I'd suspect are fully aware of the Americans playbook and want this over and done with as quick as possible. From the demands that the Russians have made of the Ukrainian government is for them to become neutral, keep on governing and as the Russians have stated, not make any land grabs. The Russians dealt effectively with the insurgence in Syria (funded and armed by the Americans) and are in the process of eliminating the Azov Brigade in the south and C14 elsewhere, the problem being floods of willing participants from other countries willing to 'give it' to the Russians.

The longer this whole thing goes on for, the worse it will get. Ukraine will become a bloodbath like we've seen in the Middle East and get levelled. Well that's the way I see it anyway.

Two winners of many campaigns and battles will be foremost in NATO minds.

Napoleon - Never interrupt your enemy when he's making a mistake.

Patton - A war may be fought with weapons, but won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory.

Putin will lose eventually.

5000 visas applied for (even the fact these people have to apply is a joke) and only 50 granted. 1 per cent of a tiny percentage of the total number of refugees.

But this is no surprise from the government who promised to provide refuge for 200,000 Afghans and have still not set up the system

Unfortunately they will Mal. The sane know who the aggressor is.
The world's been around a long time and it will be for a lot longer. Plenty of dictators, despot's, ideological rabble rousers and nationalists have trodden the same path as Putin. They all lose in the end. Ripped out of holes in the ground, smashed by opposition forces or dethroned by their own.

The world in the short to long term looses. If you consider the sheer stupidity of these sanctions on Russia, there will be huge consequences, things like fertiliser shortages, raw materials like metals for instance, Russia is a huge power in these regards. They should have all gotten around the table and thrashed this all out and come to an amicable agreement, instead, we've seen a country invaded, nuclear missiles readied, any sadly many lost lives.

Instead of cool heads, The West has literally lost their collective minds, the repercussions of knee-jerk, reflex actions could have catastrophic fallout. Take the stupid words by our ridiculous Defence Secretary for the Russians to react the way they have is off the charts. I was watching something earlier where a defence expert laid out that Russia's forward balistic weapons awareness capability is very low/sketchy, to the point that any launch of any missile could lead to all out nuclear war as the Russian's can't distinguish between missile types. Apparently the US was going to do a missile test in the next few weeks or so and that has been put on hold because of the situation we're in now...however true any of that is.

As for Boris, jesus, where do I start? Actually, I'd go as far as saying we really are run by a bunch of total incompetents, to the point of endangering human existence itself. These people really aren't the great minds that we're lead to believe. For all Boris's bluster and bravado, he seems like an empty suit.

I have to agree with your comment about Boris, he is definitely not the best person to be PM right now, for the stick he gets, I'd definitely take Starmer over Boris on situations like this

Meaning NATO will look at the long game in this conflict. Putin's people won't follow him forever, Zelensky's will.
They can stand by and watch Putin's hordes bled dry, financially and increasingly likely militarily.
Ratcheting up weapons supply and sanctions as and when they're prudent and most damaging for Putin.
Not so great for the Ukrainians short term unfortunately, but war is a callous business.

Just been looking at the UN figures regarding Ukrainian refugees

1.7 million people so far

Over 1 million in Poland
180000 in Hungary
128000 in Slovakia
79000 in Romania
83000 in Moldova

300 visas issued by the UK

We're being totally shamed by nations far smaller and with far less wealth / capacity to help.

For those who are interested - a small way to help

Mal, we have actually helped more than any other nation in real terms – if Britain had not realised what was on the horizon and got British Troops into Ukraine training and then supplying the Ukrainian Army with the latest “Fire and forget” hand held anti-tank and anti aircraft Missiles, the vast majority of those refugees would not be refugee's - they would be dead or under Putin's boot in less than 48hours from it starting.

All those countries border Ukraine so the figures will be high. They are being well looked after in those countries, they speak a similar language, so they have no reason to trek all the way across the EU to come to the UK, that would be stupid.
All those that have families in this country that wish to come will be accepted once all the visas and biometrics (to stop Russians coming in) have been sorted.
We cannot keep accepting every waif and stray just because some bleading heart liberals keep blarting. We have very little room as it is. This country is providing more than enough in financial aid for the crisis.
If you think what we are doing isn't sufficient then get off your arse and go and help instead of continually stabbing the country that has given you all that you have, in the back!!

Without those weapons being in place before Putin invaded Ocelot it would have been a “Turkey Shoot” for the Russians.
Making a case like that in circumstances when you're dealing with someone who thinks they are a modern “Hitler” is utterly irrelevant, Putin could not give a toss is every civilian was dead as long as there not Russian.

You're not dealing with the same mind set as the liberal pussy footing around West has, go look up Katyn Massacre, that was under Stalin's instruction (Putin MK1)

Strong words Keith, and I best suppose you can back those claims up that "Putin could not give a toss is every civilian was dead as long as there not Russian" with proofs, I mean like something he's said to that effect, or is it a case that that's all in your head?

Had a chat today with a fair few Eastern Euopean chaps and an African bloke who out of the blue asked me what I thought of the whole situation, I basically laid out what I've said here, you know what, not one of them disagreed, and all of them to a man said they blamed the Americans. Two of the blokes actually lived through the Soviet era in Soviet block countries too would you know.

I know it would have been mate. I totally agree with sending any lethal and non lethal aid the Ukrainians need. With escalation comes responsibility in my book. So I'd like to see more done to get the innocents to safety, us actively taking our share. Not sending people away cause they've not got the correct form etc. So that those that chose to stay can fight knowing their loved ones are safe and well in a permanent place til they can return home.

Russia was invited in to Syria to clear up the mess that America had started, the same old tactic of formenting a revolution, overthrowing the government, and if that doesn't pan out, arm and fund insurgent forces, all documented and well known.

The chemical bombs claim was bollox, the White Helmets was a total fraud who made up the bogus claims, barrel bombs, I don't know. What I do know is that America smashed the f4ck out of the Middle East with their 'freedom' ordinance like the MOAB (Mother of all Bombs) or their rather liberal sprinklings of Dupleted Uranium leading to thousands and thousands of birth defects/deformaties, cancers and mass death, millions of displaced people's, obliterated towns and cities, 1.5million plus that died in Iraq as a direct result of bringing 'democracy' to Iraq, and what about the 1million plus kids that died in Iraq with the ultra restrictive sanctions placed on the country?

It's estimated that Starlin was responsible for between 20 to 50million people dieing, if we're going to make comparisons, with Putin's death count, I think he'll need a few milenia to come anywhere close. I won't claim that Putin is Gandhi, and that he has larks twittering his name in the hedgerows, he certainly wealds an iron fist, but there is no way on this earth that you can even remotely make a comparison to Starlin. Starlin was a paranoid, sadistic megalomaniac who killed off every member of his family, he was a proper nutter, that ain't Putin I'm afraid.

Biden: get into power, f4ck the whole world up...simply awesome 👌

And now they're gone for cutting off getting Russian oil, well done.

Welp, this could be the begging of the end. Russia retaliates with cutting off gas supplies, Europe starts to go belly up, then starts firing missiles at Russia and all hell breaks loose. Not one sensible voice in the room calling for calm and to cool down, nope.

The thing in all of this is that it's the little people that suffer, those making the decisions are insulated from the fallout, us on the other hand, not so much. Just because they couldn't help poking Russia.

Russia won't bend the knee, ain't happening.

The security of the nation and its population comes first whether you like it or not. If someone gets through and poisons the water supply, for example, killing thousands of people, you would be the first one screaming the government hasn't done its job right! The countries involved in accepting refugees are getting all the 'assistance' they need from all over the world via financial and humanitarian aid which we happen to be contributing to hugely. Your making out that we are doing sod all when that's clearly not the case.

I know how why and by whom the state of Israel was brought into existence. A lot of British soldiers blood was spilt by the Jewish settlers during it's formation.

You class Judaism as an ethnicity and or race. Therefore call Israel an "Ethnostate" I disagree with that definition. You can't back up your claim in any way.

Politicians or yourself don't decide what constitutes a race or ethnicity numpty. Israel is a country built on immigration from all over the world, Ethiopians, south Americans Europeans, Slavs etc. They're one race or one ethnicity my arse.

Perhaps you can point out where in that right wing law, that's a few steps away from apartheid in my view, it says Israel is an Ethnostate.

The uk- “We adhere to and judge wrongdoers by Christian values because we believe it's the right way to form a society. All are welcome but our faith trumps all others.”
Uk residents “praise the lord”
Israel- “us too but with Jewish values.”
The world- “you can't do that!”

I have Jewish ancestry among others. But I identify as human.
I don't really recognise nationality, especially between countries separated only by politics within the same land mass. All that separates us is our culture, my cousin in Israel who has children with a Palestinian both simply identify as Israeli parents of Israeli kids.
Race is irrelevant. You can paint a ford fiesta any colour you want, it's still a ford fiesta.
Religions are just an outdated part of what shaped those cultures and now do the exact opposite for society than that for which they were originally taught.

After watching Putin with a meeting with the other despot of Belarus it's safe to assume both are going for broke .
At what point does the west intervene ?
Chemical weapons used ?
Millions dead ?
A country totally destroyed and all infrastructure rendered inoperable.

Does anyone think he will stop ?
He's gambling on the west not getting involved as he's threatened the use of nukes .Is sleepy Joe waiting for a Pearl harbour moment ?
Putin is a danger th the whole western way of life .

Thoughts please !!!!!!

How is he going to explain to the relatives where little Sacha has disappeared to ?
Obviously using the mercenaries from the Middle East to rectify that problem .
The west's modern well trained modern army's would chew them up .
Just a shame he has a serious nuke arsenal .
70% of his war machine is outdated junk and he can't even rustle up a proper army and has to rely on conscripts .

David Baddiel makes this point about Judaism, Jewish and Race in his book 'Jews don't count'.

He is not religious. He eats pork. He doesn't go to the Synagogue.

But in 1939 when they were rounding up the Jews he would have been rounded up too. So they were considered a race.

That's exactly right. He makes the point that 'jewishness'
Is very much based on the attitude of those looking at it.

A right on left leaning anti rascist person may very well not consider antisemitism as racism. Perceiving maybe that they aren't dark enough. Maybe believing that they are all rich and control the world .

However a hateful right-wing person maybe repulsed
By the 'filthy jew' and wants them all wiped out.

They can cop hate from both sides.

Yeah fair point

I think I'd question the anti racist finding excuses for antisemitism mind...

As is the case with all forms of bigotry and prejudice, it starts with the nasty, tiny mind of the perpetrators

Very saddened to see and hear the accounts of racism against black and Asian students trying to get out of Ukraine from Ukrainian officials... you'd think a bit of perspective might have seeped through.

antisemitism is so idiotic it's recognised and categorised as racism, yet globally multiple races have people that identify in some way as Jewish.
In reality everybody carries hate around in one form or another, some just have the brains or lived experience to direct it where it deserves to be.

Those Russians are the same as what was in WW2 they rely on sheer numbers but it's not even on par with WW2 as the wheels have come off .
He's now hoping Syrian mercenaries will give him a hand .
So far the Russian war machine is on par with a third world country .

In think you are not looking at this correctly at all. You're looking at this from a NATO perspective, that being a scorched earth policy. The Russians use a different tactic, it's called the Calderon, encirclement and then eventually surrender. The Russians used the same tactic in Syria and before that Chechnya to great effect.

I think you also make the mistake of having some world police mindset whereby the US and their lackey's the UK et al are the only ones who can make moral judgements, who gave them that badge? Something I've been aware of for some time, and is painfully clear right now: it's a rigged game. You only have to look at the coronation by western powers with the banks, and then the UN with Russian evidence of serious foul play with biological agents near it's (Russian) borders with labs funded by the US, yet without even looking, the UN says it sees no evidence of wrong doing.

Something else you need to concentrate your mind on is the wars that the US and it's minions have been fighting: they've been fighting wars with ill equipped forces, rag-tag outfits; look at how quickly the Iraqi Army folded, the Russians certainly ain't the Iraq Army. In Afghanistan, allied forces got their arses handed to them and eventually fled with their tails between their legs, much like Vietnam.

Antisemitism often emanates from the conspiracy theory brigade. Hard to sell most of their snake oil without a global controlling cabal in the picture. Their choice for this Bond villain, more often than not are those of Jewish faith. Backed up by the USA and western lackeys is the usual mantra.

Substitute Kharkiv and Kyiv for Stalingrad and Leningrad. Comparable populations but in the modern world. The aggressor in the 40's was a far more professional, ruthless force than what we're seeing from the aggressor in 2022.
Yet they were routed eventually outside and inside those cities.
How does Putin get Russia out of this, without it becoming, as is increasingly likely, an existential threat to his regime?

You're looking at things from a NATO perspective. The Russians don't fight the same. Take for example having their (Russian) generals up front, the British don't fight like that. As I've changed me to understand, unlike the US who'll blanket bomb the whole place and seek agreements after, the Russians use diplomacy at the same time as being at war, diplomacy and war for the Russians is inseparable, that's part of the reason why Western media and to a greater extent the western leadership keep thinking parroting that the Russian advance isn't effective, add into the equation the time it takes to surround cities to then be able to create their caldron. There's also Western propaganda too which won't admit how well the Russian advance has been, the Pentagon on the other hand is well aware.

Where have I said that I support Putin?

You're conflating reasoning, rationalization, comparisons and then whatever else that you might be making up in your head, to then equate support; you're incorrect with those assumptions.

I've said that I can see why he (Putin) invaded, that's very, very different to saying I support him.

So we're all clear: I don't think Putin should have invaded - I can see why he did given he was pushed into a corner by the US and by extension NATO - I don't want to see Ukrainian soldiers die, nor Ukrainian civilians die, nor do I want to see Russian soldiers die. I'm anti war.

Copy pasta from the BBC which sounds promising...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-europe-60717902

"Hints of progress at talks?

Hugo Bachega

BBC News, Lviv

Are Russians and Ukrainians making progress in their talks about the war? We've been given some indications that maybe they are.

“I think that we'll achieve some results literally in a matter of days,” Mykhailo Podolyak, a Ukrainian negotiator and adviser to President Volodymir Zelensky, said.

He cautioned, however, that Ukraine would not “concede in principle on any positions”.

“Russia now understands this. Russia is already beginning to talk constructively,” he added.

From Russia, Leonid Slutsky was quoted as saying: “According to my personal expectations, this progress may grow in the coming days into a joint position of both delegations, into documents for signing.”

The comments are a bit encrypted, and this can be seen as a sign of how difficult these negotiations are. And there was no detail on what exactly they're talking about. Ceasefire? End of the war? And what exactly are their demands at the negotiation table?

Both sides have already held three rounds of talks in Belarus, which focused mainly on humanitarian issues.

It's day 18 of the war. Thousands of civilians are in desperate need of aid. Dozens are still dying every day. A deal to end all of this couldn't come soon enough."

I've not seen anyone claim that they're an expert on Covid or the war in Ukraine. If you can point me to where these so called experts are, as clearly thats escaped me, I'll be glad to see it.

What you might be seeing is people discus current events, search out relevant information, they might even have some deep insight or interest in a certain subject, and then post them on these boards. You see, not everyone watches mindless TeeVee soaps, celebrity garbage, empty, vacuous music or are informed by the vomit passed on as news these days; maybe that might be a surprise to you?

Something else worth musing over is that although someone might not be able to describe in detail the exacting measurements of an internal combustion engine, hell, even be able to design one, that shouldn't be any disclaimer from being able to grasp the concepts, or is it that only 'experts' can chime in on, and the mindless vassals should just quit their silly little voices in their heads and leave the mega brain 'experts' to opine?

Just watched a short segment on the BBC news channel

Watching a dad say goodbye to his family as he put them on a train from 'platform 5'. Bloody heartbreaking.

Posted this before but it's not out of date. Its a small thing we can all do

About 90000 now

And that's not including those who have signed up through preexisting charities already

As for the 'if I was going to give a room to someone it would be 'our own' homless' guff. You've been able to do that for years already. And you haven't.

'Charity begins at home' is always said by the sort of selfish
Bustard that wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire'

I saw that squaddie botherer Jim Davidson was trending. I was sadly disappointed . Turns out he was just having a pop at those offering space to Ukrainians.

He said 'They could have always housed ex servicemen'

He was then asked how many ex services he had housed. None was the answer. But that wasn't the point.

He's just as bad a virtue signaller as the luvvies. Always banging on about the Forces. I've read that most cant stand him.

This seriously has to go down as one of, if not the worse presidencies ever.

Not only have the clowns in DC got to the point of near nuclear war, they've tried to isolate Russia and create a bank run - they ignored the fact that Russia has been stockpiling gold for ages now just in case the US gets all wan7y, that failed miserably, they've now helped create a parallel payments system run by China called CIPS which puts SWIFT into a shadow with nearly 16 trillion traded daily as apposed to SWIFTS 7 trillion, the OPEC countries are ignoring Biden's phone calls and are now talking of trading in just Yuan; well that'll be the West fugged, good and proper...collapse incoming...

Yet, the loons in the US and elsewhere are still hard at it throwing out sanctions like there's no tomorrow, oh, and stealing properties/assets like no-one business, like that's going to be attractive to would be investment from overseas clients. What a bunch of fugging nutters we've got running the show.

Wall St and the rest of the Bankster class warned the current US administration not to do what they intended to do, yet they still went ahead and did it all the same, and the latest oil thing is just the tip of the iceberg. India has now bought 3 million barrels of oil from the Russians and told the US that they don't give a toss about sanctions. You add China, India and Russia together and that is one hell of a massive trading block, Brazil is also in the game too. India and China relations are going well after cooling what has been happening of their respective adjoining boarders due to recent meetings. This is one hell of a mess with never needn't happen.

The thing is, some people are in a position to help. In their own way, whatever that might be.

If people can't help because of their own circumstances then fair enough.

But deciding its big, funny and clever to criticise people's good intentions when you have decided to do **** all simply makes you a dick. Or attention seeking. Or in Davidson's case, probably both

Stop fretting so much TC. Uncle Sam and the democratic West (I'll include Ukraine in that) are sorting your safety and Putin out.
Read Lavrov's demand words today compared with 3 weeks ago. Markedly different. Plus with every ratcheting up of sanctions, more negotiable leverage for team Biden whilst Putin's hordes get smashed about. Putin's cash out value is diminishing fast while innocent bodies pile up because of his decision.

The dubious ones whose wealthy houses are built on sand won't be forgotten.

In other words, you've done nothing. Got it.

BTW:
An ethnocracy is a type of political structure in which the state apparatus is controlled by a dominant ethnic group to further its interests, power and resources. Ethnocratic regimes typically display a thin democratic façade covering a more profound ethnic structure, in which ethnicity – and not citizenship – is the key to securing power and resources. – Wikipedia

So far as I know, none of those other individuals have used the humanitarian crisis as a means to once again publicise their own nasty little racist agenda to the delight of similarly like minded followers...

As said, criticism of people doing something good for others - regardless of what it might be, or whether or not they have done it before - is not big funny or clever.

But then I dislike Jim Davidson. It's not personal. I dislike all racist bigots.

Russia's ally and no friend of the west Iran is funding the conflict with money, weapons and support in Yemen.

Syria was flattened by Russia at the request of Syrian president Assad, Russia's ally.

Libya is crawling with Russian Wagner mercenaries and Turkish backed troops.

Flattening Afghanistan? Think you'll find the West poured billion's of $$$'s into building up afghan infrastructure and educating women and children.

Now Russia is flattening Ukraine.

When you no longer trust mainstream media sources, there is a danger that you swap that mistrust for too much trust in alternative sources, leading to a lopsided skepticism (also that many alternative sources are monetised and can have wealthy backers with specific interests too)

What say?

Now you're rewriting history. Assad asked Putin to help him fight off the payed by American mercs™ that attempted to overthrow the Syrian government.

Libya got fugged because Gaddafi wanted to create the Gold Dinar which would have circumvented the petro Dollar. The place got smashed to bits because of Western interference...as per usual.

Lol, the Americans helped sort Afghanistan out? Do me a favour. They had the likes of Halibarton roll in, just like Iraq and have the US tax payer fill the pockets of fat executives like Dick Cheney and Bush Jr with their supposed 'rebuilding program' after literally fugging the place.

Dude, stop drinking the kool aid, it's rotting your noggin. Get a copy of John Perkins Confessions of an Economic Hitman and understand how the world works.

Edited to add: that link has been edited as there was Israeli commanders in the original piece stating their shock that Israeli hospitals were treating hostiles of Israel.

Here's a prediction, not a fact as yet.

Sweden and Finland will join NATO because of Putin's hordes attacking Ukraine on his order alone.

Ukraine will become a member of the EU system of countries.

Germany and the EU will spend more on weapons, dwarfing the UK spend

Total reversal of Putin's pathetic reasons for killing women and children in horrific circumstances (that TC understands apparently).

Instability within Russian borders and in vassel states fueled by the West and blowback from Putin's decision.,

Long game victory for the democratic west, achieved in the short term

6: the West isn't democratic, it's pure illusion. Take the backbone of democracy, the courts, the UK for instance
has secret courts, the UK has 'accepted speech' as apposed to the often claimed "free speech".

Something I watched earlier was Tucker Carlson who had a great take. Tucker asked a sitting Congresswoman who is fully behind sending arms and munitions to Ukraine, he asked the congresswoman who's happy to defend Ukrainian borders from Invaders, if she would be happy to send the US military to defend the southern border; she wouldn't answer the question. The same can be said of all of the so-called western "democracies" who are sending arms to Ukraine like the UK, it doesn't look like they're so willing to defend their own borders with the same vehement determination; gets the old noggin 'a' jogging, you know?

Got bored after 3 lines and realising it's just a random bunch of nut jobs, those type of people are everywhere including the UK.

Don't blame you mate. The old leaders of Azov Brigade have long gone and they've been integrated into the regular Ukrainian army in recent years. Coming fully under army command with it's rules and structure.

Some simpletons have to back up Putin's lie's though.

Point 2: You believe that Putin's demands are the only demands on the table

He's got several issues at the negotiating table after starting a big war obviously for a big peace settlement.
The democratic West has crippling sanctions in place that he'll have to address and lift when negotiating the peace. At the start Putin had his list of demands, in the end the west will have theirs which will water down his. Don't be shocked, that's the way these things work in the real world TC

Like, you know that's like Stanford university, one of the most prestigious American universities, right, right?

You lot show just how far down the road of totally ignorant you really are. Given well rounded information, you just simply pass it off as bollox because it doesn't fit into what you've been programmed to think. NPC's for realz.

What is it with leftoids and mental gymnastics, seriously?

So you can't see any problem with Neo Nazis being in the normal rank and file wider Ukrainian Army? Anyways, they've got their own regiment within the Ukrainian Army, which is widely known and accepted, that is, within the realms of reality, and not some alternate reality that some might end up believing.

What is it with right wing cranks that can't understand the old and proven adage that my enemies enemy is my friend (for now).

In the British army, we have had neo nazis, weve had rapist, thugs, and all manner of unpleastantries, so what's your point?

So weve had neo nazis in our ranks, and no doubt it's the same throughout other European armies, but Russia haven't attacked them 🤷‍♂️

They're not openly flaunting their presence in the uk armed forces and if publicised, are removed.
But nazi = good in your world ?
Nazis are my friends because they fight the right tyranny with government approval.
Honk honk.

That's a lot of realpolitik for numbskulls like yourself to swallow clearly. Suck it up and get with the anti-Putin program instead of being an apologist for Putin.

Oh so that's ok then, only get attacked if they flaunt that they are?? So in theory a European army could have 30000 of these so called neo nazis, but as long as they dont flaunt it then it ok. Right gotcha

At the end of the day, there have been a long list of excuses why Putin has invaded, from wanting to get Ukrainian troops out of the 2 new areas that he commandeered out of fresh air. To de-nazifying the country, even though the president is Jewish. To keeping Natos missiles from getting close to Russia, even though some of Russia's borders actually sit next door to Natos. Just a massive long list of absolute pi55

Only Ukraine is happy to embrace these types, they exist everywhere but the point I'm making (which raced over your head) is once these rats get exposed, they're history.
In the real world.
The Azov battalion are a Neo Nazi outfit and you two are perfectly fine with that because Orange man bad, vodka bear bad.
