Too obvious maybe, but Fox and Daiwa were making things either specifically for an emerging market or products which were being adopted/adapted for use in carp/ specialist fishing. Lafuma still make loungers.

I remember my first ever bait runner type reel and I think it was Dam where you pushed the front spool down to engage the free spool facility ,half the time it didn't work 😂😂

The Tackle Shop Gainsborough did some good stuff , the Redmire low chair and a specialist rucksack . Pretty sure I bought my SS5 and SS6 rod blanks from Trevor too.

Did anyone have one or can remember it's got to be around 25 years ago Gardner tackle brought out the weighted sprung loaded boilie rocket that you actually cast out as the weight/ledger it held about five or six boilies that you forced down inside against the spring loaded cap then there were two molded pegs that pushed inside the fins that you wrapped PVA tape around and pushed home to lock it off, the front end of the rubber rocket had a molded lead weight inside with a swivel that exited the front, Idea being cast it out PVA melts and it fired half a dozen boilies somewhere around your hookbait.
Right pain in the arse if you left a bit of water in the voids where the pins pushed in (which was a nightmare to try and dry them out) on the cast the water would travel along the pins melt the PVA and as you cast it would fire them out the arse end mid flight quite often see half a dozen boilies being ejected somewhere between me and my spot.

Yep

The normal ones were renowned for tail walking all over on the cast, or mine did, crap at the time but state of the art lol

The one thing I will give Korda total credit for (2 actually, the original wide gapes) when they brought out the skyliner it took spodding to totally different level, accuracy and distance every time.10/10

Up until this, nothing came close

Still have a set of 2.5tc Tricast ER's! Second set as the first were stolen off the roof of the car in 2006. Gutted as I served my carping apprenticeship with those.

The originals were from Penge Angling, Vic Gibson built along with many other Tricasts, Conoflex, North Westerns etc in the early 80's.

If you go on facebook > Old Skool Carp Society you can see lots of wonderful old pics even quite a few forum members posted brings back memories well worth checking out

Going to look at a pair of diawa powermesh eurospecialist and a pair of diawa regal x 4050 reels I swapped for an air rifle 15 years ago next week.
They were minters when I handed them over as I hadn't used the rods and the guy who I gave them to says he hasn't used them.

Korda wide gapes, then Fox series 2's

IMHO Were these not just a very close copy to the 'original wide gape' - the Mainline connection Iseema range, those that can remember them.
These were very good hooks, had a load off Big Stevie back in the day.

I used the fox series 2 for quite a while prior to the wide gapes, finer gauge than a wide gape and I think the shark was a bit shorter.

The original wide gapes were a little heavier gauge than the fox, bit stronger, brilliant sharp hooks
