So I was laying in bed last night watching chasing shadows on you tube . Bowler is is having a crack for the Barbel on the wye, and says he is using a 2lb test curve rod. The misses piped up and say “a 2 pound Tesco rod” I thought he was a professional, surely that rod he is using is crap.
What silly things has the other half said when she tries to join in on your non stop angling chat . ?

"Oh yes I'd love to come and sit with you at the weekend, it'd be cool to see one of them carp!"
My last bite was in September... I admire her enthusiasm though.

My dream is to go to Florida and catch a tarpon
My wife approached a local friend of ours who has a tackle shop and asked
How do I go about arranging a trip for my husband to catch a tarpaulin 😂

I had a similar conversation with my ex Mrs although not fishing related, during one heated argument she shouts at me “you think more of West Ham than you do of me”,
“I think more of Tottenham than I do of you” was my retort. Boom.
I'd waited 20 years to say that lol

Not fishing but I we had a flat tyre of her car.

I jacked up the car and told her “ I know what the problem is, there is a nail at the top of the tyre “

Her reply: are you sure ? The flat is at the bottom of the tyre.

She was deadly serious.

My GF soon into our relationship suggested I was more interested in fishing than her, so I wrote a list of 50 things I found more interesting this was 10 years ago and whenever she can the statement of, she's less important rears it's ugly head , I refer her to the list. She should feel proud she hasn't moved down on the list so things aren't all that bad.

Although if she slips to position 60 I'll have to ask her to buck her ideas up or else. I fancy a power porter maybe she could step up to the mark and be my caddy.

Hi All

It was about 15 years the Mrs heard a conversation I was having which included low double and upper double.
When we got home she asked me to explain, unfortunately I did, she not only found it stupid, but also hilarious as any fish under 100lb is apparently a double.
The piss taking on this has since never stopped as she knows it really grinds me. For instance a couple of weeks ago we bought a 20 kilo bag of dry dog food which she referred to as a mid double bag whilst in the shop.
Anyway she let's me fish when I want so I it's a small price to pay

Best

Jon

My ex wife and myself had a mutual divorce but it was at the time when one person had to cite unreasonable behaviour, she she chose to cite.
So my divorce papers simply state "Roach Pit".
Bliss...

Nothing... Apart from the odd all you do is sit there and scroll fish. She hasn't the slightest interest in what I do..

Mine just finds the names of carp book amusing, keeps taking photos of them to send to her friends.

When she asked why i go, i suggested she came for a night. her response was 'no, i hate fish'.

Going fishing in my company at the moment rarely involves encountering a fish

Yeah my mrs chuckles at the books too. She was checking out Finding the Time to Cast and Tels new book and suggested they use the same font on the cover as they do on Jehovas witness or religious pamphlets. I can't unsee it now. Loads of them do it.

Some years ago my wife was in the kitchen next to the living room where I was watching some Korda stuff with Danny F breathing heavily during a fight and saying "come to daddy", "be good to me" and the usual stuff ending it with "GET INNNNN". My wife yelled: For Christ sake are watching porn in there?
Now I always use headphones- also when watching fishing related videos

The wife just asks 'how many packages are you expecting this week'......?

Looks like I am very lucky, my wife is always so happy when I go fishing, she keeps asking me when will I do another night, she even helps me pack my gear and load the car, sometimes even my neighbour comes and helps out, he is really nice!

Not a relation but a number of years ago (over 30) on a Royal Parks lake I was retrieving a largish pike bait. A couple were walking past behind me some 20 yards away. The young lass came over to see what I had just "caught". I held it up and said it was a half mackerel. It was quite obviously cut in half. She went back and told her other half that I had caught half a mackerel. He replied "has he really?" and they carried on walking.

Always makes me smile when I think of that.

I'm separated now, she knew I went fishing when I met her, but regularly got "you going fishing AGAIN?"
She hated me doing nights, even though I had worked 18-20 hour days for most of the week.

I must be one of the lucky ones ,after posting on here 10 yrs ago about my partner being a absolute bitch we split . i replied to a comment on facey to a lady who wanted to catch a 100 doubles that season .51 weeks later we were married i moved from Coventry to Stafford not the best place for decent fish . She has stopped fishing due to illness but doesn't have a problem with any time i want to fish ,loads and unloads my van because im more disabled than her ,if im local brings food ,bait water etc .
