highly............although I did used to prefer the red version.

I used to love the 4G squid and did well everywhere I used it. Could not get a bite on the scopex and even the carp in my pond wouldn't touch it. Not so positive from me! Ha.

i think some baits are lake dependant, i was on the krill last year and done quite well from my club water but the carp in my missus pond wouldnt touch it yet they love monster tigernut red ammo, which i had less sucess on at the same lake
Dont know if you can really compare pond carp to lake carp as its two totally different environments, but i think it shows some fish for what ever reason will favour one bait over another

I have got a garden pond with carp in, carp not koi.
I have never known them to not eat a quality bait, outside of the colder months.

Of course carp / koi does make a difference as well.
In ou case she inherited her pond from the previous house owner and 3 are koi and the other two visually are just normal commons. I dont know alot about koi carp so mayby someone on here can say whether the two that look like commons may still be a type of koi?

I also think that some baits work at certain waters but not as well at others. Not sure if its to do with some waters being acidic, others alkaline and how bait reacts? So looking at an allrounder really. Thought Scopex Squid may be, but maybe its not?

I used it exclusively for over twenty years, it's one of the best and has been for a very long time. I only stopped when I contracted homemadeitis.
I had some of the first they made and it caught from every lake i used it in. Only stopped using it because of rumours that it had been changed
Switched to essential B5 another great bait. Stopped using that for cost reasons. Been using A.B.S baits. for the last few years because I can collect it and get good bait at a good price.

Started using this around 8 months ago as an alternative to my usual. So far so good. Caught fish straight from the off. Also bought the Bait Glug and Liberally covered 5kg of ‘Stabilised' boilies in it. Baits are rolled really well and have a waxy like texture.
I also like the fact there is two different tones of colour in the tubs of pop ups.
Early signs for me are good and even with 2kg still in the bag, I'm already planning on buying another 5kg

used them multiple times, good bait had a few decent fish from them, however i find the monster crab and squid and krill to be a killer alternative and much much cheaper..

I've been using Scopex Squid since the demise of The Key and the fish seem to really like it.
I did like the 4G as well, which was just a slightly tweaked version of Scopex Squid.
Hopefully enough people will keep buying it so that it doesn't get discontinued, like so many of
Nash's good baits have been.

Scopex squid, top bait 4 me.

Cracking bait IMO...just wish they would do the purple again...
the original tangy squid topped them all..

Been looking at the stabilised version myself, much difference between the freezer and shelf life ? Seems like a lot of people still rate it 👍

I have said this before on here and been told that I was wrong (!) but a friend of mine used to use the freezer version a few years ago. He was a mega long stay angler and what he most liked about the bait was that it would last ages out of the freezer before turning. He used to hang it up in a tree at the start of his session in huge air dry bags and it would last a long, long time. He reckoned that it was a frozen shelf life....if that makes sense.
What appealed to him actually put me off the bait. He caught on it though to be fair.

Not Scopex Squid but In late 90's our lake used to see a lot of Tangee Squid and the frozen stuff was nothing like the shelf life.
The shelf life used to come with a small packet of pop ups, they were rubbish!

Bait will last months like that anyway, it's called air drying! It's the moisture which let's a bait "turn", no moisture, no mould

There was the S mix and and All season S mix, pending in which was used
I have about 30kg in the shed now, and as time moves on I do question the base mix. S mix used to be nearly £80 for 7.5kg a long time ago, don't get me wrong Nash have some serious buying power and reading the ingredients on the bag I don't think it's the same, happy to be wrong
A long time ago I saw the list of ingredients in the S Mix when people were debating the blokes name who created it, can't remember obviously now but I don't think it rings true with new bait?

No, not Gary Bayes, with the base mix, I believe he found and added the Squid addition to an already proven and successful base mix that was somebody else's recipe, could be wrong?
Can't remember, it was a long time ago I got told, I believe Nash got the recipe from a successful carper at the time, the rest they say is history. I'm sure somebody can clarify this and knows the blokes name, also the ingredients?
Edit - Since I am sat on my arse doing nothing I though I would have a Google and see f I could find the recipe. Came across this from Jamie Clossick in 2007:
I heard a great story once from Dave Levy about Kevin Nash on holiday somewhere on a boat trip fishing where one guy was catching more than anyone else for no apparent reason.
Upon questioning the man it turned out that he was using his own squid for bait which kevin got hold of and sent away for testing. It turned out to be far richer in aminos than any other squid and only exists in the specific place where this guy lived so kevin sourced it and imports it from there.
I don't know how true it is but you can't argue against the fact that the Nash S mix has been probably the most succesful bait in recent years....
I had heard a similar thing and the blokes name
Ah well, we all know the carpworld holds a lot of bollox. There will be some truth somewhere along the line
Another Edit, let's hope we get back to work soon!
Checked the ingredients, no calcium cassinate listed in the new stuff, believe it used to have this in it

It was probably Amber Attractor which Shaun Harrison had a hand in. And Bayes was using the Scopex R liver flavour combo on that before the squid came about .
AS squid had more milk pro (30# A casein, Skimmed milk, Whey protein) than the S mix and the Monster Pursuit used to have Calc Caseinate in so would/ should have been in the Monster squid

Could not get a bite on the scopex and even the carp in my pond wouldn't touch it. Not so positive from me!
The Leney descendants from a very special venue in my pond love the Scopex Squid halved & crumbed up. They will clear every single crumb of it up. Also have some Priory & some VS fish in a raised holding pond & they also mop it up. They aren't keen on Mainline Hybrid or Sticky's Manilla though, both which a lot of people catch a lot of fish on. The fish in my pond are not fed on Boilie as a main food source either & are fed on a mixture of floating & sinking pellets as well as actual high protein beetles/bugs/mealworms/etc that are sold as “treats” at a local Japanese & English bred koi dealer.

Used to have the exact same thing happen myself with the older frozen Nashbaits (WhiskyB, Formula One, The Sting, original Scopex Squid Liver, SSL+ Red & Amber Strawberry). They would last for ages in air dry bags before even starting to turn or show evidence of mould without going hard like you would expect an air dried freezer bait to do. This would even be experienced with baits I had rolled myself so I know they were not frozen shelf life's!

I fish an exclusive water in the colne Valley, there are lots of old school anglers there that make their own bait, in fact one quoted to me 'in order to be successful here you have to make your own bait...'
The two top rods last season were on scopex squid, I know that for a fact and they caught more than all the guard using their specials..
Morale of the story.... Fish like it! Stick it in the right place and it will catch as well as any bait out there.

The newer SS is not the same as the old SSL by a long shot. Texture is not the same nor colour shade. Ingredients have changed over the years & all baits will catch a hungry fish in the same way a broken clock is right twice a day (as long as only 12 hour clock used). Just use what you are confident in.

I've been using it for a couple of years now and if I blank I know that it's my fault, not the bait. Simple as that.

I look at 5kg sacks on offer everywhere and think, why are they selling it that cheap if its supposed to be this killer bait.
most shops around the midlands are selling it for 35-40quid for 5kg. one shop is still selling 10kg for 65.99!

Pile it high sell it cheap...doesn't make it crap. The saving on making bigger batches is huge. For convenience I had a bag of the freezer version myself recently. It was harder than I would prefer but caught fish

Used to catch everywhere on the Nash scopex squid livers I was confident everytime I fished with it was a tad annoyed when they discontinued it then when they brought out the scopex squid I bought five kilos to give it a go opening night on the syndicate two thirties in less than an hour, restored my faith and confidence and I've been using it on a few waters not all and catch more often than not when using, it doesn't have that dog**** smell of the old livers which we used to call dog**** in a bag but it will catch plenty of fish.
Always preferred SSL Plus. Had a lot of big fish on that bait.
What about the new scopex squid only available to AIR dealers
Is this the one everyone's on about ?
It wouldn't surprise me if this one is different to otherS available
