How are you inflating it? I have a 3/4 length Highlander Kip. I unfold my bed and give it no more than 2 minutes to inflate before closing the valve. I lay on it and if it is too hard I simply open the valve and push down slightly to remove a small amount of air and repeat if necessary. It takes no more than 5 minutes to get it right and in hindsight thats nothing if you are doing 24-48 hour sessions. I am a permanent side sleeper and genuinely think this is the most comfortable I could get on a bedchair. People make the huge mistake of blowing them up. I think they feel they have to inflate them to max capacity just because they can. It really trial and error when it comes to how soft or firm you need it but once you find that sweet spot, it can be as comfortable as your bed at home 😉

The only time I have had this is the summer when I slept directly on top of the sim and sweat buckets. My sim is now fitted between the mattress and peach skin mattress cover. There is a small access hole near the leg of the bedchair big enough to put my hand in and close and open the valve upon setting up and pack down. I haven’t needed to even think about taking the 5 season bag yet. The top cover and SIM have kept me perfectly warm and super comfortable so far 🔥

Get a sim. They are so versatile.
They add comfort and heat with very little weight.
I have transformed my Oval 365 and also bought my missus one for her Advanta sleep system for when she comes. There are many to choose from and genuinely upgrade any bedchair 👍

I’ve heard so much about black technium and would love to try it but can never find it in stock in 15lb anywhere? Where are you getting it?

I’ve recently fancied a bit of a change from the usual GT-HD. I first put on the Kaizen mono. It lasted 2 48 hour sessions before coming off. It was absolutely terrible. Had major problems getting it to sink to the lead and felt so wirey!

I’ve now spooled up with the Fox Exocet Pro and really like it. Went on the reels perfectly. casts superbly and has a sensible lb to diameter rating. I so wished these companies would do 1250m spools. I get that it’s money in the pocket to them (having to buy 2 lots) but 1000m never does 3 spools unless it’s backed and that is a pain in that a**

I’ve sent my Fox RX receiver today special delivery to have an antenna upgrade and a small problem with the lights looked at. Dal was quick to respond to my initial messages. It should arrive with him Tuesday afternoon so will update here when I have it back 👍

Update….

I’ve been out in the garden and put tension back in the elastics.

I have tried out the Trakker SIM that come with the bed only to find the valve leaks all the air out in about a minute so that’s gone in the bin 🙁

I have ordered a 3/4 length Highland Kip SIM to try on the bed and have figured I can put that between the peach skin sheet and foam mattress so I don’t lay directly on top of it. It’s a bit off a faff as you have to undo the 4 screws and remove the single leg to be able to take the mattress cover off the frame. I really do hope this is the answer! 🤔

I’ll try and cut a long story short but really need help here lads 🙏

I’ve been through a few bedchairs in the last few seasons (tried sims etc) and after many recommendations for comfort I bought a second hand (mint condition) Trakker Levelite Oval.

The guy I bought it from had back problems and had to give up night fishing. The first night I did on it was awful. It was rock hard and after my session I noticed all the elastics had been pulled up to max firmness (I’m guessing this was done by the previous owner to try and help his back) I have done a few nights on it since and have released some of the tension from the elastics all round but just can’t seem to get comfy on it.

I have tried adjusting the height of both ends, feet and legs higher than the middle and then the other way round and also as flat as the eye can get it. I genuinely can’t see why so many people would recommend it for comfort if to me it’s not very comfortable at all. I HAVE to be missing something here.

I paid £130 for the bed, 3&5 season bags. Trakker moon pillow and the Trakker self inflating mattress. I haven’t tried the SIM on it. I have used them before and know they can help, so it is an option. My gripe is that people rave about the bed without the SIM so what am I doing wrong?

I am predominantly a side sleeper but do wake up on the odd occasion on my back.

If anyone could help I would honestly appreciate it so much. I have to be missing something with this. The oval and solar beds are always the 2 recommendations for comfort. Maybe I am expecting too much but this really doesn’t feel as comfortable as I think it should based on anglers who use them and give it rave reviews.

Apologies for the long post lads

I’ve been using around 6 inches of 20lb Korda IQ2 for my turbo German rigs. Crimped at both ends with the xs crimps. Anti tangle sleeve and a small sinker to cover the bottom crimp. I have never had one tangle on the cast and am as certain I can be it resets if picked up. It also pulls pin straight between two puller tools. Not steaming required 😎
