I couldn't watch the new release video,the guy is proper annoying.I have seen a picture of the alarms though .I think Trakker are trying break into other parts of the market as they know once Korda release their bivvy and brolly then Trakker sales will take a hit

Yeh your right.
The trouble is if you have never entered a market before or re-entering and have established products as Trakker do (bivvies etc) then the alarms,rods etc better be good otherwise its straight to the Angling direct bargain bin!

the nash specialist stuff was decent, wish i never sold my dean macey/nash rods, they fetch decent money nowadays and were perfect for perching and chub fishing

100% they look gash; why some of these product designers think that the more complex the tool the more interesting the product - total aesthetic mash of alarms from the past / current market. 'Simplify or die' - this is why Delks still sell and Nevs arguably are still the best looking!

Agree the person presenting the video had an annoying, (to me) style of presenting, however I think you need to have far more detail of the actual products before writing them off as unfit for purpose. Aesthetics will always be subjective ; and, " Beauty is in the eye of the beholder ".
Pure functionality should be testable through usage. Time will tell.

I would have thought so, Cygnet posted on their Facebook page that for further info please go to the trakker pages as their one would no longer be monitored

They look terrible. The alarm market is hardest market to crack. Its nigh on impossible to take sales from delkim and fox. Trakker haven't got a very good rep for reliability and customer service either.
Totally of topic but in regards to Trakker just relabelling its Cygnet end tackle, check out the adjustable zig they have released, that could be the best out there.
Bite alarms 5 years in development DB7 -R not a sign of a googled posts older than 24 hours a well kept secret that one

Bang on the Nev is an all time classic design like an E type lol.
Solar very nearly had it right and had some good features but failed with reliability etc etc. They can kill a company though . Nash's deodorant cans looked mega gash though they seem to sell the new versions. (not my bag though).
I could design something far better on a fag packet!
All for progress and making products better rather than churning out sh*te. The zig float does look interesting.
I see the company that owns cygent ,aqua etc is streamlining. Makes sense.
Heres another one- Cadence carp gear ...yeh who? Well Dave Lane uses them, is sponsored etc , hardly anyone knows about them though and will carpers buy them... No course not because Cadence have no association with carping and are a well respected match brand (though new). If Shakespeare produced a tidy alarm it would still be Shakespeare right?
Maver did carp gear a while back..it bombed because Maver is associated with match kit.
Always thought if a company that has a strong brand within a branch of sport it almost needs to relabel to make it appeal.

I think because for the best part of 30 odd years all we've had bite alarm wise was the Optonic Delkim Bamford conversion. Nevilles and the new Delkim and fox alarms. We are just loathed to change. Apart from the all ready mentioned all I see out on the Bank are Nash and the ATT,s.As all ready mentioned a new alarm will have to go someway to make any kindi of impact in today's market.

Cadence are building a strong rep; they've ventured into the specialist market (barbel rods by Des Taylor) which look more than a little retro however they are apparently decent tools. Dave Lane seems a good fit if they are appealing to the more experienced carp angler . . .

The alarms look like some pony gear you would find in decathlon with a nice case with a free lanyard! Just clicked link and description on carpworld site. What a load a old tosh these are. Seriously who designed these? Mr Remington?

Agreed, look like something you can pick up off ingoldmells market for £15. In terms of looks I think most alarms look hideous, Nevs being the best.

They are but people dont /wont associate them with carp gear. I bet hardly anyone knows they make any let alone Laney putting his mush to their gear.

They could have made those alarms much better looking just by moving the roller wheel down further in the housing and then using the ears as snag ears by opening out the middle section..
They will be in the bargain bin for £80 a set by Christmas.

They have just released the Kamo Range of luggage... i believe that if you watch one of the recent youtube videos there is a chance you may see a bivvy in the same Kamo pattern
But as said nothing confirmed and just rumoured so far

My first impression is that they used the back of delkims and the front of Fox as inspiration to design their alarm. But the look very cheap.
If you want to set yourself in this market you will to do this with a sturdy looking alarm with the necessary feature and reliability.
At the moment some of these characteristics are missing

In all honesty, all the alarms look and feel cheap; been only one alarm I've picked up and gone this feels nice, and that's the one by carp-sounder, still looks rubbish though. the rx+ is probably close second, cant look at them and go yeah that's worth £230 a head though and let's not start on the receiver looks like something straight off of wish

My first thought was. With those control wheels in that position. Do low down on the alarm. Won't the rod and bobbin be in the way every time you want to make adjustments?

I think until I've seen them in the flesh it's unfair to pass judgement.
They do look to have some nice features but the alarm market has always been dominated by a handful of manufacturers so you really need to bring out something special to succeed.
Trakker are a reasonable size company and even their luggage and shelters are not cheap now so it makes sense for them to try and diversify and gain a presence in other areas off the back of an established brand name.

Dont even know they ever brought out a bait so shows you how long that lasted. The alarms must cost pennies to make if there prepared to take a gamble on them. Surely they cant be so deluded to think that they can crack the bite alarm market.

I work in electronics design I would say they'd had to outsource the design or some aspects of it the R&D costs, building PCBs and testing, the plastics, the tooling, final assembly, to building prototypes for further testing and maybe tweaks & improvements / fixes then stepping into producing a small stock quantity for sale you could easily get through £50K to £75K so not really pennies to make you recoup your R&D costs through the eventual sales

Everyone said the same when nash released theirs. And they seem to be doing alright. Plenty of fan boys out there, and who knows, they might even be decent and catch on. Although all the people judging them through the power of foresight seem to know what they are talking about

Look at sonik. I've had a set of there sks as back up alarms for years and they're brilliant little alarms. Use them on the river alot and smaller waters
I'd be interested to hear member Fulcrum's verdict as he is looking to produce a quality but viable alarm.
What's his unbiased opinion of the basic moulding, internal features and use of otherwise ‘unknown marketing hype phrases' (UMHP) plus overall aesthetics, which make no odds to how it works but accounts for a huge part in an alarms success.

I'm not going to voice an opinion on a competitors product I'm afraid. The only comment I will make is I have left no stone unturned with mine and I am hoping when I launch them there will be some who will be speechless (in a good way) because of their looks, function and performance. I won't get into any details yet or any launch dates. They will be ready when I'm happy.

They look *****. I think they have actually used the price point to try and make them exclusive. If they were £50 for three on eBay you'd not give them a glance, but from the makers of The Tempest they are now purely rebadge and profit led.
You can see that nearly all manufacturers are going the same route without making any effort. I agree Fox are the last of the really big guys who actually design and bring innovation that seems to be from a n anglers POV.
