Does anyone know of a 9ft leger,rod that has the dedicated swing tip screw in tip eye,..I'm looking for a complete rod not the eye...
It's for a project..certain lake..

The good old swing tip, haven't seen one in years. There's an Oakwood combi rod on ebay for 20 odd quid. A lot of positive reviews. There's a few more also, but more money.

I have an almost unused Drennan " ledger master" swing tip rod with a good selection of tips
, bag, tube the lot. I think it is eleven foot, can't check at the moment as I am fishing. If you are interested pm me and we can arrange something. I live in the south west.

There is a Daiwa Matchman 9ft leger Mk11 on Ebay at present.
Unfortunately it has the lesser desired cork sheet handle that has mouse damage.

The shipping is also "somewhat" high.
Mine is gloss black two piece overfit joint with subtle green whippings, black sliding reel fittings, six chrome high Bell's guides with no intermediate whippings, the tip and butt guides being lined, plastic overfit butt cap on a 24" traditional cork ringed handle.
A nice stiff, lightweight rod made in the last dying days of swing tipping before interchangeable quiver tips became the norm.
IIRC I paid about £10 + £6 carriage three years ago.

those blanks would be perfect for my little river, but cannot justify their cost, postage, along with the building materials, which would put them in the same cost bracket as a 2nd hand drennan alcolyte

Only just noticed the price and postage, I'd be tempted to message and query it!! Might be cheaper away from eBay etc. he seems to repair reels also Manchester based. I've no ties with them btw

I just looked at his other items,he does indeed do reel servicing and repairs,in fact his whole for sale stuff looks excellent for rod building bits n bobs and I like those custom swing tips n all

Unfortunately lots of couriers have stopped accepting anything over 1.2m long , company i use now costs £32 for a tube does,nt matter if there is 1 blank or 10 blanks in it.

I just popped into the Tackle box for you mate, had a look, and asked Pete for advice and options, but like you have said, most rods are quiver tips included, or 8ft or 10ft in length.
Or spinning/drop shot rods of 7 foot.
I Don't think you want to be cutting a 10 foot rod down, and putting a screw in top eye on, do you ?
as that would stiffen up the rods playing curve.
The Korum phase 1, 10 foot float rod was nice for £30, No screw in eye though.

I'm on it already,ha,ha...I been doing nothing but float n straight lead ,trad fishing lately..

I remember it was powered by two hearing aid sized batteries,when you had a bite,both the red lights in the reflection came together, and then disappeared in the gloom..it was a hefty float ,but it did work...
If I remember,it twisted apart to get to the batteries,and this also turned it on..

I did and had some good tench caught on the float at night up to 7 or 8lb. My biggest tench back then came ledgering luncheon meat with a swing tip, bream to 7lb on the feeder and swing tip.
Miss my gear from back then. I reckon the Daiwa reels would hold their own even now. Sadly nearly all my gear was stolen late 80's.

i used those battery light floats .... it was almost painful for the eyes to continue watching over long periods so could never get on with them. Waching isotopes pushed into fairy liquid bottle tops wasnt much easier when legering either. In the end when tench fishing it was all about the churner. Getting a pair of Optonics was a game changer!
I did have the following set ups for coarse for many years. This wasnt first set up. I started with Shakespeare glass rods

I had the harrier feeder rods back in the day, and still have a lightening coil 10ft feeder rod that has been extensively used for everything from floater fishing, barbel, big chub, feeder fishing in ireland for bream, etc.
I recently found these unicorns and have set them up for small river use, but will also give the a dabble as small water carp rods just for the fun of it.
I have an excess of baitrunners so easy enough to put them on most rods, and the line is bass pro, from a 3lb spool...

It says 14lb on the spool in the picture and I agree it looks the same as big game.
