I've managed to watch Gaz Fareham so far and really enjoyed, but tbh I usually do enjoy his films. Will definitely get through the others over the next week or so

Just watched Nick Helleur. Can relate to the canal carping, but mine are usually bare and large compared to the stunning little canals he was fishing. Very enjoyable is Nick, both in the UK and europe. And very well made video, so yeah, watch it!

They are superb. One thing I took from it is that I would sit on a thousand pork swords for a Birch Grove ticket.

I enjoyed all of them apart from Nick Helleur it just doesn't interest me and I'm not keen on him tbh, the rest are some of the best I've seen In a long time I really enjoyed them

It's good that we have different interests in our fishing,I don't drive and canal is local to me and I got fed up of fishing lakes years ago and a 14 mile of stretch of canal between locks is certainly interesting,never know what it can hold I've seen and had them up to 32lb and there's possibly bigger in there and also a surprise pike Or 2 as well.

I didnt like the scott lloyd one at all. Small water fishing but hes out in a boat putting H blocks out. I get that he's got the option so people will say 'why not then' but it strikes me as utter nonsense and isnt relevant to what anyones elses fishing actually is

I'd disagree to an extent, and think its a case of damned if you do damned if you don't etc. Not relevant to me, however I know of a good few lakes where boats are used and accessible, I suppose they are trying to cover all bases

Been fishing small lakes all my life and it's definitely not a true representation of small lake fishing. If boats were offered on a lake that hasn't got any weed then it probably wouldn't be for me. Certainly no need for h blocks etc

Just because there's a boat doesn't mean u need to use it and the same with h blocks. That lake was easily fish able without the use of a boat so I'd say its more about how he wanted to fish it

It's this that makes the blokes approach even more embarrassing, two rods no boats keeps it tricky at times. If you need half a day chugging around in a battleship on a water like that then there's something lacking in your ability.

Perhaps he didn't even want to use a boat. Perhaps this decision was made at a project meeting with TA HQ that they want him to use a boat in his segment of the volume.

The problem is, I agree with you to an extent, I can't see the need for a boat on that venue.
However, he has booked the venue exclusively and feels its give him an advantage. Its not upset anybody else and he has had a chance to look at the make up of the venue.

No they dont, it's against the rules except to release tethered fish. I've fished it twice, the bailiff reminds you of this fact when you first meet.

Bit off topic but I've just watched a vid showing a drained down lake in France. If you've never had the chance to see this in the flesh. Have a look. It's very thought provoking if you not seen it before. Matthew Collins channel on you tube. Well worth a watch.

I enjoyed the one on Birch the most having fished the place quite a few times, it captures the lake nicely bit of drizzle flat calm water fishing the gaps in the pads waiting for the morning or daytime runs all my favourite memories of the place, I haven't been there for probably 7 to 8 years now lit the fire a little bit.
Enjoyed all of them really it's free content on fishing what's not to like passed a few evenings in a time where my fishing is severely restricted to short day sessions.

I'm the same, I would only weigh something that I think is approaching 20lb and above, not because anything below has any less merit, but because I don't really care if a fish is 12lb, 14lb or 16lb, but to me, a bigger fish is just of some significance; both to myself but to the bailiffs as well I suppose.

Is it when a "star" catches a fish that's a stunner and makes a comment that even though it is small, weight is irrelevant, which it is, its a stunning little fish!
Then every sheep shagger in the country comes out with, weight is irrelevant
Was to me as a youth, didn't have any scales
Also, when we have had repeats like we do, i guess weight does become irrelevant unless its a long time between captures and its grown?

I'll add something else into the carp room 101 (not sure how relevant to the thread it is but definitely irritates me)...
The words “not usually one for the orientals” accompanying any picture of a koi. Usually photographed in high quality, both sides including water shots. Not one for orientals... or just trying to keep up with a trend? Be proud of captures that you're proud of... don't devalue a capture just to follow a trend.
See it a lot with recaptures also. “Unfortunately a recapture” - well why have you sacked it up and got a mate down to do you some pictures? People need to start being more overtly pleased with captures... after all the memories and a catch pic is all we're left with.

Its a known fact that God had nothing to do with Yorkshire . . .why do all its inhabitants believe that? Most of it is vast, open, mossy and miserable and the carp are gudgeon sized . . .plus they all live in terraces . . .and order 'bits' from the chippy . . .

If someone not weighing a fish annoys you. How about this. I know of a guy on one of my waters who doesn't even lift them out if they look under forty. Just unhooks them in the net and sends them on their way. Now that pickles my brain cos it's not even an easy lake. After weeks of blanks I'd at least want to see what I'd hooked.
I've watched a couple of these new TA videos so far. I've enjoyed both. The birch grove one shocked me at what a small round bowl it really is. After all the years of reading stories in carp world I expected something different. Pretty little water though and it looked mega at that time of year.
Won't be watching Nick the Pest. No interest.

It's an odd one isn't it carp fishing. I used to be obsessed with getting my photos spot on and have albums going back many years, all put together with a great deal of love. The last ten years though I haven't bothered, just lost interest with that side of it and the weights too, I'm really not that bothered even with the big ones. That's not to say i have lost interested in carp fishing, far from it, but it's the hunt that I enjoy, perhaps more than the end result!
