Its like MFI used to be (thats a blast from the past) half price except one day a month at full price so they can reduce it to half price or the rest of the month! my mother tells the tale of being told in there don't buy today as it will be half price again tomorrow on one of their special days.
Watch how much of the big price tickets are suddenly out of stock on the day but back in stock few days later

Last year I kept track of the prices from about September onwards, angling direct did you there prices so didn't actually save much but total fishing tackle didn't so you was actually saving a bit of off what they was offering
Same as this year I'm going to buy either a waverunner shuttle, waverunner sport or a tolson x boat, I don't mind paying full price but if I can get even just 10% it's worth the wait till next week

Don't forget any Black Fridays "deals" are only deals if you were looking to buy the items regardless. I see lots of people buy something because it was cheap on a BF deal only for them to list it for sale a few weeks later at a loss because they bought it on a whim & didn't really need it.

Have a look at non UK European tackle shops like M&R, Hiki, AM Angelsport, Askari, etc. I've found that these are lots cheaper for branded big ticket items like reels, probably less carp tax over there. Postage costs aren't usually too bad either.
Know I'm not exactly flying the British flag too high, but hey ho!! Everyone has a choice, expensive British or cheaper from the EU.

I just called to see what was happening with my order (3items) and they've let me order stuff they don't have stock for. One part of my order is coming in, in four days and another part of my will be mid January which I've told them to refund if they can't sort it within a week.
Definitely worth a call to see what they're upto...
I just called to see what was happening with my order (3items) and they've let me order stuff they don't have stock for. One part of my order is coming in, in four days and another part of my will be mid January which I've told them to refund if they can't sort it within a week.
Definitely worth a call to see what they're upto...

that is normal practice nowdays... 1st it prevents you to order from competition on bf and 2nd it is payed in advance (as not many cancel order)... basically everyone is doing that unfortunately...

my mate ordered a Nash MF60 bedchair during their last 20% off deal, it was out of stock and eventually came 3 months later, he could have cancelled and ordered from somewhere else at full price but chose to wait.
I ordered the Titan Hide Camo XL from VR on the 26th with 20% off knowing full well it is a pre-order, might take a couple of months to get to me but again, that's my choice to secure it at a lower price. Not sure when they are even due into the country...!

I made 2 orders on the 26th and 27th. Received part of my first order last week sometime but not heard anything about the item missing or my second order. Was nothing I'm in a rush for and one item of my second order was a pre order so they may well be hanging onto the rest of my order to ship out altogether (although most people send what they have and pre order at a later date)

Was the same last year but when I ordered over the phone the lady said the items were not in stock so may take a couple of weeks to be sent out. I was happy to wait to get Basia Spare spools at great price of £35 each...

Just found out from Nash that the Hide XL Camo will not be arriving until early 2021....they didn't say how early but I would personally class "early" as anything up to end of March although obviously it could arrive sometime in January. Either way VR will have had my money, (over £400) for anything from 6 weeks to 4 months by the time I get it so the choice is mine whether i just wait it out knowing i have saved 20% or I cancel and wait until they are definitely in stock before ordering again....
As you can imagine with everything going on its chaos in the shop They are taking deliveries in on a daily basis and unpacking them and shipping things straight out to you guys.They are not shipping part orders unless the value of the item being shipped is worth the cost of the courier or you have stated its needed quickly.They are happy to give a refund if you cannot wait for your item,but if they are waiting on the suppliers then there is not much they can do.The couriers and postal service are miles behind on times,so your item might have left Vale and be on its way.Give them a call and im sure they will be able to give you an answer and resolve the issue

I ordered a rod sleeve from Vale Royal on black Friday. Arrived last week but unfortunately wrong item. Contacted them and received correct item today and a return label for the wrong one. So apart from the initial mistake I would say thats pretty good service !

Yeah I understand that mate not slating the shop, my mrs 2 brothers work for FedEx and parcelforce they are rushed off but still managing to get them out just been crazy for them, I've ordered a lot tho over the last few months must be in the region of 10/15 big orders gone in and haven't had to wait more than 3/4 days for any of them but I will admit tho it was with Johnson Ross who normally do send stuff out pretty quickly

I know the guys in Vale are getting frustrated waiting on suppliers but a few reps have told them that next year is going to be even worse.Im not sure if its down to covid,brexit or both

As no one knows what the Brexit deal is or will be it cant be down to that can it?
As for Covid supply chains have been up and running again for months now, in fact the country who has come out of it the quickest is China and most of the gear comes out of there. Someone is talking out of their backsides.

So the companies are purposely not supplying the shops are they,there is still covid going on everywhere so just because China is up and running does not mean everything is suddenly back to normal.The systems we have had to put into place to ship stock out of the UK at the place I work are crazy and will definitely slow the shipping time right down.Get ready for price increases too because they will come

There are a lot of business's on stop because they are slow at paying or cant pay their bill's, cashflow will kill plenty over the next few months, i guess it applies to all industries including angling.
Price increase's is interesting, not sure many industries will get away with that right now, end users voting with their feet there.

They say next year is going to get worse.
I wouldn't necessarily believe sales reps, maybe the more unscrupulous ones will tell you that so you over order now and so you'll get it at this years price. Then when next year comes surprise, surprise items are more readily available.

I dont think it applies to angling as its seen a huge increase in popularity and the shops i use have said how massively busy they have been.I know containers are being held at the docks longer due to covid,I guess we will have to wait and see what happens

THE backlog in the shipping is HUGE apparently ! china may well be up and running but restrictions in customs and shipping still remain
a mate was telling me the company he works for has been told its a 6 to 10 week delivery time unless you use Air freight thats quicker but 3 times the price apparently
its not just fishing tackle its everything thats held up
the good news is second hand prices have never been higher great time to sell

Just cancelled my order and got a refund with vale royale angling for a fox black label item they ain't getting stock of till February 2021
I think it's fair to say that it wasn't very smart to do a Black Friday sale this year.

I understand they may have had stock issues but the communication of it has been very poorly handled. Everything I have ordered for example is still listed as in stock on Vale's website, it all just appears a bit disingenuous. I have not received either of my orders and not heard back from the shop when I tried to contact them, both orders are still listed as unfulfilled on the website.

Unfortunately customer service in the Tackle industry is generally crap, it's still stuck back in the 80's where you had hairy arsed blokes stood round drinking tea and smoking roll-ups who would look at you and talk to you like a piece of sh!te.....
There are exceptions obviously but generally it is very poor.
Regarding Vale I have no doubt that they will eventually fulfil our orders, (I purchased the Titan Hide XL Camo knowing full well it was a pre-order and is stuck in a container somewhere in Essex) and if you don't want to wait they have a good track record of re-funding. I don't think for a single second that they would be dishonest, I just don't think they are very organised.
