I'm assuming most lakes are completely closed for fishing and this may be for some time. Curious how you think this will effect the fishing when we can return.
As we know spring can be the best time of year when they start feeding. Do you think we may miss that or are lakes on a pause button so to speak.

A few of us on here can remember the old close season
Weeks of freezing over then the thaw and floods then spawning didn't leave much Time between winter and June anyway
We'll manage (I think ) lol
I think it will be ok if the venue owners can get through it

Thing with the close season is you knew when it started and you knew when it finished, that's not the case now. It's the not knowing that I find hard.
Also you could walk most lakes and feed/ watch the fish, which sort of helped the fishing fix...
I guess if we are able to fish in June, we'll of missed that spring madness..

Some ****s were out fishing at willows in St Albans yesterday or the day before as the owner hasn't shut!!

It may well be duffers fortnight for carp. Those who can get in early will fill their boots.

Probabaly make it better fishing when we go back , as said i remember the old close season , but even then you could do the any method trout fishing lol , we will live and the fish will still be there when we get back , i hope you all manage to get back.

The “any method“ was later on though,
Most “normal anglers went over to fluff flinging for the Shut down
And the trout anglers couldn't wait for the coarse season to start so they could have their waters back 😂

There is a manor fishing lake down by mine in the forest as i ,ive in the mountains Very hard waters and peacfull not alot Knows about the lake as in Locals not talking Outsiders. Many 30,s there which is still open you phone the owner and pay over phone but i stay indoors

Heard some of the carp at linear are forming queues 2 meters apart waiting for anglers to return some are even banking themselves and taking selfies as part of their daily routine

For those places that don't have a close season of any length then I'd like to think the fish, lake and surrounding flora & fauna will have a great time, many places may well need the rest.

I hope that the lack of anglers and food will see some of the gulls disappear back to where they belong - the sea!

I think it will be a good break for the fish, hopefully they will make the most of the break and wake up ready for munching.

I think it will do the lake's the world of good to be left alone as it was before the close season was abolished
31 March until 16th June. As it used to be.
I think all rivers still have the closed season.
There are so many different views on this we could go on and on about the outcome. I just hope that it's over soon enough and more lives can be saved. Yes we all would like to go fishing again but is it really that important with whats going on in the world

Just a thought...a very well known friend of mine made a point to me the other day...
Its a valid point,and worth thinking about,....most lakes I guess will be quiet right now,and as I have noticed, in the fields,woods and roads locally the wildlife is coming out,more and more,they seem less timid ,less afraid..which is lovely to witness...
However,if your lake is a quiet, peaceful location,I wonder if more predation will occur ,especially if your venue has no fencing...
Will those fish still be there,unmolested, who knows?

This has been an issue at my local club waters. No anglers on the bank means otters are getting on when no one is there and resulting in couple a good fish being taken.

It's like the fish know there's a lockdown on my syndicate.
Been down a few times recently and I've never seen so many fish on one of the lakes.
Last year they were hard to find and even harder to catch. Walked round Good Friday and found fish in every swim.
As our lake(s) are fenced we are doing OK. No signs of entry although we do have a mink roaming between the two (caught on camera). No fish losses this Winter at all.

The lads who own my local lake have been putting in copious amounts of bait during all this so we are hoping that when we can eventually get back on the bank they will have put on some good weight without all the pressure.

One of the FB groups I am on was saying that a couple of waters have been affected by people coming on overnight and poaching carp to eat.

There has been reports of people electro netting waters in Cheshire to steal fish since the lockdown started.
I think it will benefit the fish greatly to be left alone for a few months. And I suspect they will turn onto bait faster when it start going back in regularly. I can imagine a linear the bottom on B1 and B2 will be getting a good cleaning over the next coupe of week by the fish actually having to go and look for some bait.

I own a very nice length of river at the bottom of the fields. Not being able to travel to fish for carp has caused me to look closer at the river. Had some lovely wild trout on the fly rod and probably enjoying my fishing even more. Every cloud.
