Now I had a few ciders last night, so this could have been a really bad dream.

But I'm sure I saw some YouTube melt running up a set of step ladders to play a fish whilst his mate landed it.

Is this really a thing? Please tell me it was just a bad dream

Saw this. It's during a match. Assuming it's due to bars and the speed they want to get the fish in.

I hate H&S but owners allowing it...where there's blame and all that...but at least it's not a bait boat !

I've used a step ladder for fish spotting, I got enough funny looks for that. I wouldn't dream if playing a fish from one.

I remember 1 guy doing this at Darenth in the late 1980's when the lake was low and the bars were shallow.

The fish seemed fine when landed.

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but wouldn't playing a fish on a step ladder potentially be;

a.) Extremely unsafe for the angler.

b.) A serious risk for the angler of looking like an absolute tw@t.

Been doing this for years, it's a right laugh, 30ft is my personal best and I always wear waders and juggle tennis balls, its the small 1 percents that count.

Now everyone is doing it I've tried to be different and am digging tunnel swims, have the rods underground and the line going up, over a converted mangle fitted with rollers and early results are good. I think the lack of shadows on the lake are a plus…
