In my local tackle shop you can still haggle the price.

Imagine trying to talk down the cost of your weekly at the checkout in Tesco..

Sadly, these types of establishments are a dying breed now.. Probably for that exact reason.

"I'm a cash man & will always be that way. It's stood me very well in my life. These days I get PayPal offering to lend me ¿½100-250K with stupidly low interest rates, basically a one off charge. I still would never take it. I'm a cash man & will always be that way"

Very modest of you to say so TC.

Whereas I mostly agree with what's been said, there's no denying that technology is slowly being integrated into fishing, & it's the future, whether us old farts like it or not.

The progression of angling lies in the hands of the new blood, & they're most definitely holding smart devices..

Defo cutting corners.

March was excellent for me, I was convinced that I had "unlocked the code". There I was, prancing around the lake like a dog with 2 d***s, looking smug, & boasting my achievements at every opportunity.

April came around & it all went to s**t with one long blank - well deserved.

Can't speak for this month as I've mostly been sulking..

Picked up some of these the other day. They have a good rubber inner seal (tested & approved with balachan paste..). I wanted something with a lower profile, so I can fit everything I need into a single bait bucket for short sessions. Seems like good quality plastic too.

"I think that sums it up, our vision of modern Carp angling may not well be what's out there."

I'm sorry to say that you may well be correct there. How depressing.

"there's only so much hair spray you need as a 50 year old balding man"

I know that feeling..
