I bought a Fox Aqos tri layer 3/4 length jacket with 15k HH and it's terrible in the rain. Decent wind proof but utterly rubbish in the rain.
I need a new jacket that is truly waterproof but isn't too expensive. Any recommendations for the Korda DryKore stuff or is it as rubbish as the above?

I like the Drykore and have had the mk1 since release . . .like all waterproofs they need regular washing / reproofing to keep the DWR in place / water beading up etc

Buy an Arktis military grade waterproof jacket, you will never need another one again.

Depends what too expensive is. You could try ex military, I use German Flecktarn Goretex as Gerry on here recommended it.
I also use Deerhunter which I can highly recommend.

They have some lovely stuff and their budget range reviews speak for themselves. Quite a few reviews are from people who work in all weathers outdoors.

Take a trip to GoOutdoors as they usually have some bargains on good quality Goretex jackets from Rab etc.
They'll last way longer than anything available in the fishing industry.

I really rate the ridgemonkey thermapro shell waterproofs. The material is incredibly comfortable and soft. Used in extreme downpours and kept completely dry.
being ex forces myself I've used and have plenty of military goretex... does the job / robust... but just no where near as comfortable as the ridgemonkey set.

EBay, army gortex, get over size then you can put it over whatever you want
No point having fancy jackets when they are covered in fish slime, washing them knackers them up and takes out the DWR coating. For what the army gortex cost you can replace it every couple of years or just wash it now and again and lather it in Fabsil, or that's what I do

Too true, I use the Austrian army goretex stuff. It's really decent for fishing, personally I prefer the green colour to the camouflage patterns. Although, the German Flectern is decent gear as well.

Scozza sums it up ,we go fishing ,outside in rough nasty, damp weather all seasons
All I use is grade one DPM ,army jackets from the likes of Go Army, Miltary first or the Bunker army surplus shop ....
I don't mind the odd fishing branded T shirt but I don't or won't use angling clothing in general, when you fish the places i used to fish or spend time outside you'll soon see some of the fishing coats etc don't cut the mustard . .they ok for down the pub or a fishing show so you fit in....

We look outside our discipline to find that perfect gear and to avoid carp tax. yet people from other disciplines look to fishing clothing because it's specialist. Like shooting, camping etc.

I think with fishing jackets they don't need to be as breathable as some of the mountaineering jackets so in that respect the vass one is probably best for out an out waterproofing.
I've got a few jack wolfskin jackets and they're great but they all ware off after a while in regards to the WP. Even my schoffel smock let's rain through after a while.

I doubt there looking at the likes of anything from NTG. Probably the
likes of Premium Fly fishing outfitters like Orvis. You seen the price of that kit. For that kind of money I'd want it to everything and more..

I have posted this before but for me, nothing beats a plastic / PVC type jacket that trawlermen wear, 100% waterproof and non absorbant, that's what they should be selling but they would struggle to get enough carp tax on it. The key point, you can shake most of the water off it when you have done. Wet slimy jackets in a bivvy when its cold is not good, condensation magnet 
Wear your insulation under a shell and keep it dry, job done. When you get back in your tent, jacket off, sorted.

Yellow PVC coat and Sou wester. Reminds me of being a kid, the smell of plastic is making me feel sick now.
Your right, they definitely kept you dry. Did tend to sweat a bit when the sun was out mind..

Do you really want to go fishing looking like a "Spod"????
When I'm sea fishing though, beach or boat in inclement weather, I wear bright orange PVC smock and bib and brace same brand and style as what they wear on trawlers and fishing boats etc. About 2 or 3 layers under them and you are lovely and warm and completely waterproof and simple to hose clean and dry. It was the trend back in the 70's and 80's but now its been overtaken by these one piece and two piece thermal suits etc which in reality, are not as good or as flexible.

I spent £225 on a Rab coat . I use it for walking the dog as well to try and justify it to myself. ( I normally budget and don't even buy new tackle)
The coat has been top draw , comfy , waterproof , windproof and drys really quick.
