Lads, I'm in the market for a new head torch. Something bright, reliable, comfortable and not silly expensive. Interested to hear your suggestions

I didn't like the Nitecore one, but Gerry always recommended the Sunblesa one off Amazon. Usually over £20, currently £16.99. If I didn't have loads of headtorches, I'd defo have a punt on one of these at this price.

Have the Energizer Vision Ultra Rechargeable LED Head Torch for 5 years now and still very satisfied with it

I have had a few different energizer ones and 2 are my current ones for main and backup, the rechargeable vision and battery vision ultra HD, both excellent.

I'd recommend the Sunblessa as well, even though they're based in China they're customer service is better than a lot of British companies!

Worth doing a forum search, it's been asked a lot. The Sunblessa gets very good reviews as did the Lenser. We have a cheap Energiser its not let us down, but I'm a Petzl user, 2 in 30 years, for fishing and twice a day in winter walking the dogs. Can't stand the thought of back of the head battery packs as I used to sleep with mine on or round my neck, but as always, each to their own

I got the Nebo head torch from screwfix too and its perfect for what you need without the carp tax.
Id never get another battery torch, always rechargeable now.

Tried a few over the years but nitecore nu25 has been my best for performance and how lightweight it is,although now seems to come with a different strap.
Also have the nu30 I use if I need a bit more light, but can't sleep with that on.

By far the best headtorch I have and have used is the led lenser HF6R. I priced matched at go outdoors and got one for £37 and well worth that. The charge lasts ages! Zoomable and wide angled, red led for anti flies at night too.
I have the nitecore . I Love it ! it's rechargeable and last for ages. Also very lightweight.

Crazy as this may sound but the OMC head torch is brilliant. The brightest I've used by far and when you use the narrow beam it's great for casting at night and seeing your spot.

Can you keep it around your neck at bedtime and go you notice when you are wearing it.
I was thinking it might be too chunky.

If you are looking for good value have a look on Amazon and search for infrared headtorch. You should find a variety of options but essentially the same product. Prices will be around 8 quid.
They really are a good headtorch. Just about light enough to wear through the night. But the battery is much bigger than the sunblessa so lasts much longer. The infrared actually works quite well.

A simple cheap "Energizer Vision HD+ Headlight" is all you need, runs on 3 AAA batteries and they last months depending on your usage. I have been using "Energizers" for as long as I can remember and they have never let me down and I still have one I bought over 15 years ago in use and its still as good as new.
I have used the "Nitecore" and "Sunblessa" and find nothing special about them, I don't even take them fishing with me anymore and its a job less to do not having to recharge them or worry if they will go flat.

You just charge them while you are fishing?
I can't believe people still use heavy batteries and chunky head torches, the batteries are only going to last 5 hours of continuous use then they are thrown away sadly.

I have both the Sunblesa and Nitecore Nu25
Both weigh nothing and a very similar, I actually prefer the Sunblesa as it has a green light on it which i find is better for my eyes
The only thing i would say is the batteries don't last ages but I just have one on charge and one in use, I think it's a small price to pay for the weight and compactness of both
Can easily be left on your head when you sleep as you don't even notice they are there or I just leave mine hanging round my neck
Don't think I'll ever go back to a heavier head torch now and would happily replace both like for like if they ever break

I take two headtorches fishing one spare and one 'on'..the spare is a Petzl ,the main is a energizer ,the energizer is far better than its expensive petzl, stable mate ..
They take 3 ,AAA batteries ,not heavy at all ....I don't like the feedback I get from those rechargeable headtorches,...those who have them I know,say they run out ,when you least expect it ...

Two sunblesa gen 2 for me. Always have a spare on top of the rucky in case the one on my head dies and you're struggling to find the spare.
The gen 2 sorted the poor battery life of the original.

I was an energise user for years before I bought a sunblessa and kept one as spare for when the batteries ran out on the sunblessa.
No need any more I have 3 of the cheap rechargeable infra red ones as they are cheap as chips.
I have seen that the latest sunblessa is heavier than the old ones so maybe they have a bigger battery now.

How bright are the Sunblesa? Rarely use it but it's a god send if you can light up far margins/islands.

It does have a very bright option, but it's not a pencil beam that will light a far margin.
I have the bigger ridgemonkey headtorch and that can light a far margin, and also good for margin fish spotting.
