Does anyone have any info on the new quickdraw rods ESP are bringing out this spring (saw a caption on their Instagram)

I don't know but maybe they are going to be a higher end rod such as the classic blank hope so I def buy them I see QuickDraw rods being reduced few shops

Let's hope they are better than the first ones, worst rods ESP have ever marketed.

I am just interested to know why they are not good as I know nothing about them but have been thinking of buying some now price dropping

I have a set of the originals. For the money there is nothing wrong with them.

I completely agree, been using some for a couple of seasons and they haven't skipped a beat for me, fine with smaller fish and great at bullying bigger fish when snag fishing.

Other than a few eyes going shiny mine have been great. Interested to know what's wrong with them for a sub £100 rod.

I been hoping ESP bring out a better quality retractable rod - If they are based on the Alcolyte, Terry Hearn or even Ultralight/Tectrix blanks then I will be jumping at them.

I've been using the 9ft 3lb Quickdraws and they've been good. I've not used any other retractables so have nothing to compare them to, but for me they are great. Prior to these I used 9ft 2.75lb ESP stalkers which were also good budget rods. I just wanted some retractables that are easier to transport on a bike etc.

When I had them I also had hearn classics , many lower end rods from the same manufacturer have similar actions to there higher end rods but just have cheaper more budget friendly fittings. The quickdraw feels completely different from it's higher end cousins and personally I thought it felt dead in use with no finesse whatsoever.

i personally think the ESP Stalkers are a nicer rod than the Quickdraw

I think I prefered my stalkers but I wanted something retractable hence the change. Still like the Quickdraws too.

Anyone have any more info?

I'veI got the 10 ft 31/4 got them for France boatwork , used them last week and really enjoyed using them caught loads of big carp on them and even managed a 112lb catfish on them and they handled lovely for the money can't fault them one bit ,nice through action

Theres a vid on You Tube with Alfie Rusell using them.

My originals are fine. Great rods though I like the look of these.

I've just seen the Alfie video and the look to be called quickdraw 4k.... They do look pretty smart

They do look nice them. Very understated on the graphics. 120 quid a pop. Which ain't exactly canning the arse out of it. Which is refreshing.

Being picky, I would of preferred a 2.75lb oprion and that the length of the slightly wider part above butt was shorter like the Scopes are. But i like the build and I can see me having a set anyway

Would the only difference in a shorter button section be a smaller pack down size then Paul?

Definitely getting a set of these, not sure if to go with the 3.25 or 3.5 tc, i know on one the videos it states 3.5 be better for casting pva bags out but thinking the 3.25 will still be sufficient

im not sure if these packdown to a different size to the Scopes or not .... Ill defo go for ESP over Nash though.

They should def have offered a set with full corks too.
I have and like the originals.

There's another recent thread on here with a few people who have purchased them

I used mine for the first time yesterday, so far so good but only done one day session and a couple of smaller carp landed. I got the 3.5 and glad I did really as they don't feel overpowered or ott.

How are people getting on with these? Looking at taking a trip to Yateley in the next week or two to get a set. Just not sure on whether to get 3lb or 3.25tc. I do like softer rods which is swaying me to the 3's but might start using pva bags more which is making me think about the 3.25's.

I got the 3.25s and really like them. I too prefer softer rods but they've got a nice feel to them.

Really happy with mine so far, had fish to 44 on them and more than up to the task

I think I fancy a set of these too and the rod bag. Look really nice !

would the 3.25 be ok for pva bags, I'm stuck between the 3.25 and 3.5

I don't fish bags but I imagine so, I use 3.5oz leads & it doesn't feel too much, would happily use a 4oz lead if there was one lying about in my bag for example

I had a similar dilemma in choosing between the 3lb or 3.25lb rods as I also tend to prefer lighter rods. On the recommendation of the shop I went for the 3.25lb rods.
I have had a couple of short sessions so far and the only thing to show is a coot and some extreme lumps of weed, both of which the rod handled with ease

No regrets so far and happy with my choice of the 3.25lb test curve rods.

Thanks chaps might go for the 3.25's just goes against everything in my head for shorter heavier rods though. Was worried about my 9 foot 2.75 scopes as they felt really pokey but had fish from 13 to 43 on them and they had a lovely action. So
might give the 3.25's a try (although am also tempted by chiltern rods).

Ultimate Bionic extendables also get good reviews and are apparantly the same blank that Cotswold rods use for their blanks

I've got the 2 x 3.25's of the original ones and also picked up a 3.5 recently as they were being sold off cheap due to the new ones. There is hardly any difference in the tip, the extra power is further down the rod, I would expect the new ones to be similar.
