Who started this fad off . It seems everybody is saying it now, especially when they catch a fish. It's almost impossible to watch a fishing video on youtube without someone saying it every 2 minutes and other anglers I speak to whilst fishing keep saying it too. Maybe I'm just being a grumpy old git but it really gets on my tits.

It's gone on for years. I'm now racking my brain now as to who it is on my venue that is always saying it.

The saying that gets on my "Tit's" is when someone says "Well done You". "You" has a proper name so say the name instead of frigging "You" or just say "Well Done" instead. And don't say "Mate" or "Bud" etc either after "Well Done" especially if you don't know me.

Bosh, get in there.

'happy days' has been in widespread use in Essex since I was a kid. General use, not angling specific. So a very long time ago.

If I recall, Jim was an English teacher which accounts for why his books and articles are well written.

One of the words he despised being used in carp fishing, and he mentioned it decades ago was the way the word "Edge" was used. ie when someone would write words to the effect their rig or bait gave them an edge.

I dont mind "happy days" to be fair. But some of the other "chav" terms are cringey/awful

Localised sayings are funny/annoying. Moved to Portsmouth area and what really REALLY gets me is ‘thatl learn ya' not teach, but ‘learn' so ‘a bosh' ‘well done PAL' ect is nothing compared to that so stop whinging
