Hi everyone! Currently sat at home with a broke ankle and a huge cast so fishing is out of the question sadly! Has anyone got any suggestions for a good carp fishing book to get stuck into?

Anything written by Dave Lane or Terry Hearn will do the job. Take a look at the Coch y Bunddu website as they always have a huge selection of fishing related books to choose from

Casting at the sun and fifty years a fisherman both great books but not just about carp
Also YouTube 'go fishing' - hours of the old John Wilson fishing show on there if you aren't just interested in carp fishing 👍

Never understood why more books aren't on kindle. Costs little to put them on and would sell loads as people would buy to read on the bank, rather than potentially mess up a physical copy.

I bought the Mist on Kindle and just stopped reading after the first chapter, is just not the same to me the illustrations/pictures are a big piece of a angling book.
(I read around 8 books a month on my Kindle)

I know a good place - Clive Gammon.
Not a single mention of carp.

So many variables depending on taste and age Technical, story telling, bounty hunters etc.
Anyone fishing early 80s will want a different read - I loved the carp strikes back, Tiger Bay and Savay.
I recently read carp journey and loved it. Spugs books are awesome and enjoyable. I collect books and really like relatable ones, Hearn and Lane books are good, but it's like me reading about marlin fishing, the time, life etc. is not something I have or would ever want.
If it's your first foray into books I'd get one that includes waters you fish or have fished and matches the type of angler you are, then during your recovery your head will be spinning with thoughts of trying different things that are attainable

oz holness book is a recent favorite. comes across as a laid back but extremely determined angler between his shifts working as a fireman. very well written & some great pictures of some huge fish. he has done a few podcasts over the years & they are worth a listen if you have some time.

Micky gray ones are worth a read and forgotten chapters/northern chapters
Reading gaz fareham's ‘adrift' at the moment and it's good 👍
The Mrs bought me A Fool and his Eel by M Walsingham last night, I've been after that book for quite a while but wouldn't pay recent prices myself, why didn't I buy it at launch...doh.
I'm presently half way through Hutchies Carp Along the Way, vol 1, it's a good read, just hope I can get a copy of vol 2 without being robbed blind..hmm.
As mentioned Rob Maylins trilogy are good.

Im now reading Gareth Fareham Adrift book which is great, ive always enjoyed Gaz work in Subsuraface.

My favourite book is Confessions of a carp Fisher by BB,Cypry the Carp by Peter Mohan and Along Fisherman's paths by Mike Winter..
Mike Winter is Skeffs mentor ,..(Mark Walsingham)..,A fool and his eel ,which to my shame I have not read ,yet .
All four of those books are intertwined, and have to be read to understand the connection..especially if your a Devonian angler .

Chris Yates' Secret Carp is a great read, and you can pick it up fairly cheap compared to some of the others mentioned.
The Tom Bankes books are the best new fishing books that I have read in many years.

100% agree with the Tom Bankes books
When you read between the lines and take in what he is saying and the thoughts behind his methods he is absolutely next level
Some amazing fish too
Also think Gaz Farehams and Arron Coops are also good

Stuart Brookes - Beyond the Green Gate, and Hiding in the Long Grass are superb books. If you like these books Sam Barley did a great podcast with him.
I also think Terry Hearn's books are a class read and his writing is very evocative of how it must feel to be so utterly committed. His descriptions leading up to and including the outcome makes you feel you are there on the bank with him.

Yeah carping mad3 is one of my favourites - managed to pick up a leather bound carping mad1 cheap, but haven't read it (it's the only leather book I own and comes in a nice leather bag
). Is 5 and no 4 a continuation of the joke (that 2 got lost or something like that)?.

Number 2 and 4 are mini 'chapters' at the end of the books and yes a complete joke. Number 5 is the last of the trilogy is how Spug is pushing it. If anyone has, or sees a cheap copy of 1.please.let me know, been looking for a few years and been outbid at the last minute on a few in that time

I'm reading redmire pool again by Kevin Clifford while fishing for 2 days,fantastic book for its time (still is) and brings back memories of a 12/14 year old me reading at school

Open up Micky Greys first book and you won't put it down. Probably the most emotional carp
Book ever. Then it's probably one of the funniest awell . Highly recommended.

Off topic but both 'The little grey men' and 'Down the bright stream' are superb kids (and adults) books. BB was the author.
