Thinking of getting rid of the motor in favour of a little scooter to pootle about on.

Since COVID and work from home being the norm, the car is just an expensive paperweight and I can give it back in August with no penalty 👍.

So, I'm wondering if anyone loads up their scooter/moped - like a Lambretta - for a day on the bank?

Think with a trimmed down bag of bits and short rods, the bulky bits left are the mat and maybe the chair might be tricky to fit somewhere.

Does anyone go on their motorbike/moped and how do you get on with it?

It would be OK, but there are limitations. Nights would be tricky, but if you're only doing days as you said, it's definitely possible. I have a small Solar chair which folds down to nothing, lightweight and smallish Korum unhooking mat. The other thing to think about is some sort of shelter, but think there are compact ones on the market.

Takes me back to the late '80's when I started carping, didn't drive so it was tricky. But with a moped, you have more flexibility. Never gone fishing on a moped, but I think that you'd be OK.

Lambretta? An even more expensive paperweight,but beautiful....You'll arrive in style,that's for sure!

I go fishing on a M6L Brompton, and use the Rigged and Ready x5 rod,and a Helinox chair one and chair one xl..all fits in a 'sleeper black rucksack'...its a day only set up but could be adapted.

Rigged and Ready have a new micro compact carp rod out now ,..maybe of interest

used to do it all the time as a teenager, spent loads of nights on an inflatable bed under a brolly, all transported on my honda c50/70 then 90. used to wear waders on the bike, rucksack and rods on my back, rear box had sleeping bag and inflatable bed

Detachable side car? Be easier to get your stuff too and from.

Brilliant I knew it would be possible and I'm wouldn't be the only person at it, even though I may get a few funny looks in Pompey.

have a watch of Samirs video - might give you some inspiration.

I recon you might struggle on a 125, let alone anything smaller. If you're serious about using a bike for fishing you may be better off doing a DAS course and get a bigger bike.

The Lambretta angler, might get some stickers made up and drop them all over the place at the next couple of shows, might get me a bait deal

CBT so 125 to see how I get on, then maybe up a notch in the future.

Looks like the Italians do provide front and rear racks but weirdly the others don't seem to.

Thinking somehow strap the chair to the front or side, bag on back and rods/roll mat between my legs

I use to go fishing on my little 100cc bike in the80s. It's very doable, but also limited. Anything more than a quick overnight under a brolly will be a struggle. Unless you have a food and watersupply. Didn't take a chair. Sat on the bank with a bit of foam

Get a little folding camping chair, no need for a fishing chair. I saw one of the Nash systems for storing the sawn offs etc, you could easily put that on your back.
125 scooters, especially commuter scooters have loads of storage room and they're as big as any bigger bike, no need for a bigger engine. For a idea look have a look at things like the Lemoto XDV Luggage.

In the 80's I used go for 6 days a week on my Honda 50 every week.

Bedchair laid flat over the seat and rack. Tackle and bait bag and sleeping bag laid on top and it was all bungeed down. A roll up rod holdhall over shoulder containing rods etc and 45" umbrella. Storm sides for umbrella in tackle bag,. When I got on the bike, I sat on the bed which also secured it and bags were like a back rest. Even on a scorching hot day, I would have to wear all my warm clothes I would need for a night etc as I had no room to pack them.

Once set up at lake, it was just a ride down to local shops to buy all my food and drink for the week.

All my cooking, was on a small meths burner or hexamine blocks and an US army surplus steel mug dated 1954 which I still use today, my cooker was the first tin of food I opened for the session punched full of air holes with a can opener which the burner or hexy block would fit in..

It was only a small step up from going for a week on my push bike except the Honda 50 allowed me to take a bedchair and a sleeping bag. Before that it was a blanket and sleep on ground on top of rod holdhall opened out. When I got the Honda 50, I still used my rod holdhall opened out but it became a warm bedchair cover over my sleeping bag so I could fish all Winter. I had a thin foam layer trapped between 2 bedchair covers for a matress to stop cold from underneath.

Only issue I used to have was, a bit too much "throttle" and I could pull a wheelie unexpectantly with all the weight on back..

I used to go on my moped when I was a teenager. 12 foot rods, chair, rucksack and a matt. Got pulled over a few times mind but with all the scope range available now you could probably get it all in a rucksack and be on your way.

Realising nothing is new and some of you are legends for what you had to do to get fishing when you were younger .
