Hello
I am trying to cut down on my hookbaits and only want to take a couple of pots.
Would you take wafters and drill them out with Cork so I can use them as both or take pop ups and counterbalance them with a weight to use as a wafter when needed??

You'd only need 3 tubs to cover all situations , one tub of pop ups , wafters and hard hookbaits. Put the wafters and pop ups in one tub so then there's only 2.

Get some of those small bags ( the ones you can put weed in) and put a few hook baits in each one then put them in 2 tubs. If it's a runs water then you need to take more hookbaits anyway so get a bigger hookbait bag.

I hear what your saying and I have thought that I should just take a pot of a mixture at a time.
But the amount of hookbaits I have is ridiculous, really want to sell the lot and start again.
I want to have 4 pots of hookbaits.
Match the hatch, Yellow, White and Pink but also have the options of wafters and pop ups.
But thinking about it i could just have a pot of wafters in each and if I want to use a pop up I could just drill out and plug it with Cork or vice versa with a pop up and counterbalance with a weight.

If they are all one type say
Manilla or cell
Why not mix all the colours and sizes dumbbells etc of pop ups in a tub and then Do then do the same with the wafters.
That's what I do
But I limit those down again to say 4 or 5 of each in one tub.
Have a spare tub in the car/van if you cane on 1 colour and feel you need to change all the time.

I don't help myself to be honest.
I use 2 types of boilies, one Fishmeal and another Nut based.
Then the Pink, Yellow and White are all different flavours again
I swear I must have about 50 pots of hookbaits some 10 years old it's a joke 😐

hydro tablet tubes are a good one
I store some tea bag's and coffee in them 😉

Just take one mixed pot and leave the rest in the car

Pops and counter balance them with fly tying wire pushed inside.

I went through a stage of tubs and tubs of pop-ups; Strawberry Ice Cream, Pineapple N-butyric, Monster Crab, Green Zing, Purple Plum, Scopex, Tutti-Frutti, Garlic Spice and more.
I now only carry a few tubs, Monster Crab, KMG, Infusion and Garlic Spice. I can 'overweight' a pop-up to create a critically balanced or use it as a snowman topper as well as a pop-up.

For me pop ups and drill out a touch and use putty, a small split shot or leadcore inner wire

For me wafters 99% of the time I just think they look a lot more natural and unless fishing in thick silt or heavy weed then I don't use pop ups, I use to take loads of different pots but now I only take 3 different ones

S2 but mix all colours in one pot to save space
And sometimes I take a mixed pot of northern specials

If I could afford it I would make a Carpy version of the below. Been using them for years, label the outside not the lid - I'm sure we will get a manufacture one soon for £15

Pop ups, drill out and insert plug of boilie, or a slice of bottom between 2 halves of pop up, counterweight them.
Until a few years ago I'd never used wafters, I'd always used a mix of pop/bot until I got what I wanted. Eventually I decided the fish didn't really care so it was always a butterflied 1/2&1/2 pop & bot, but I do have wafters now, probably won't buy them again.

That's really cool roughly how many baits does each section hold and is it air tight or in other words does the smell leak out?
I was just about to buy a load of 35mm cartridges but one or two of these could be ideal.
Oh and to the OP, all about popups, you can counter weight a pop up easier than making a wafter more buoyant

As much as I love a good pop-up, I seem to catch more on the same bait but as a wafter.

Last season my answer would have been pop ups as I was catching well on them. This year it's wafters that have been far more successful for me

I use small 50mm screw top pots to keep my hookbaits in, and I'll mix different sizes of the same baits if I have them. So my answer is, I take both but in much smaller pots than the ones they come in.
