So it's back ITV4 at 8pm on Thursday I'm actually fishing canal for 3 days but either going to download the ITV app or watch it when I'm home on Saturday,going to be wierd with alli not there as I quite liked him on monster carp but listening to the new Korda podcast with dove & spoons I think it's going to be excellent.

Started liking but I can't afford to go to venues like that, and spend money like they do, but they are sponsored. So recording this one and if it is similar just stop the recording, like somebody mentioned won't be the same without Ali.

The majority of venues they fish are open to the likes of you and me if we really wanted to fish them. But as you say its expensive, but they are fishing for some proper kippers

What a bizarre mindset, you can't afford to go so don't want to watch it, guess you don't watch many car shows or fantasy holiday programs either.
It'll be good, hopefully ali isn't too missed, I've endured plenty of fishing programs on youtube and some are just boring, monster carp appeals to the masses, can only be a good thing.

Nope, Ali was missed by myself. He added intelligence in the humour and banter that may go over one or two but was clearly missing in last night's effort.
It won't put me off watching, as the carp fix was there. But is it good enough to hold the interest of those who don't go carp fishing? That will be the crucial question when they come to renew next years series with ITV...

I missed Ali like I'd miss a toothache, can't stand the bloke. If I was unlucky enough to go fishing with him, I'd return after the session with permanent ear ache after listening to all his waffle.

Much like the original Top Gear they had a good chemistry between the three of them, with Tom and Neil being foils for Ali's antics. It felt like it was missing something without him there. Think they'd have been better off by introducing a third person. Wouldn't have to be someone who was anything like Ali, just someone else they get on well with to bounce off and raise the energy a bit.

I enjoyed it, as a fishing show...BUT....Ali brought some pace to the programme and tbh he's nearly always upbeat, even if over the top at times, I've got to say I found D&S a bit dour overall and towards the end I found myself getting bored.
To confirm what Sharpda said my Mrs said it's lost the fun element which often made the programme for her as she's not that bothered about the fishing truth be told.

Watched Episode 2 and feel even more strongly now that they're really missing having a third member of the team. Felt a bit flat.
Also the fishing is so ridiculously different to the way I fish it's hard to relate. Fishing 400m away and using boats to do everything just isn't carp fishing as I know it.

Still think it was slightly better as the 3 amigos 
but its still fishing on mainstream tv which is always good
this week at Orellana was intersting even with local knowledge that had there arses kicked again ...its anamazing piece of water that holds some serious carp ...BUT i didnt realise the channel cats from USA had made such in roads into the eco system and im surprised they never even mentioned it ...and they should have been destroyed on the spot

Not sure about the Bromance / comedy element to it this week but it was still entertaining but my mrs did actually go for a swin half way through

Bit off topic I know, But its funny how different editing can influence how a place looks. In the RM video I thought Parco looked quite nice, but after watching the latest Korda offfering, I thought it looked like a bit of a s''thole to be honest. Put me right off, plus all that booking swims nonsense is a non starter for me right from the off.

I have to agree regarding Parco. I always fancied doing a bit with the method there after hearing Frank W talk about it. After seeing those drone images no chance. Was surprised how little water most people seemed to get.

Take it for what it is, a TV show about catching Big Carp. If they fished all the wild canals, lakes and rivers across Europe they may get some more kudos but would catch half the amount and they would be half the size, not a great seller for a TV Show.

Just watched the final episode. Shame they couldn't have landed one of the real monsters in that lake, but that's fishing.

You'd think they'd have done two weeks there, as they did on the other trips, to give them more of a crack at it than just the one week. Is mad that a 40lb fish there is a little un. Would love to fish it but at 1.5k a week or however much it is not sure I'll be doing that any time soon (or ever!).

I don't know why; but I always imagined Euroaqua to be much bigger than it looks on the film's. Or is it just the camera angles that make it look small. Also how does the water at Parco del Brenta stay so gin clear with 4000 Big Carp in such a small body of water?

I don't believe that there are 4000 carp in there . I went in April a couple of years ago on one of Frank Warwick's trips . Went for a walk round when we got there and there must have been 10 dead carp in the lakes margins . When the guy that owns it was asked why he didn't take them out he said " they live in the lake they die in the lake " . Some of these carp were big old fish . Euro aqua was totally different ,Alex the owner looks after his fish , they are like his pets .I know it gets a lot of bad press but it's a great place to go for a fishing holiday , you really do get looked after , it's not to everybody's taste but each to there own .

I think it is still watchable, but I miss Ali. I just wish they'd stop trying to act, because they can't. It ruins the programme as it is so cringeworthy. Some needs to tell them to pack it and just be themselves, rather than trying to script something and look like prats.

Its all a load of bullocks driven by greed and money. Funny thing is we can all get out and fish for lumps, use the same gear and wear the same clothes and write better scripts every weekend.

Watched it on catch up ...it was great that they were excited about fishing this venue as they aren't many places with a potential world record in a smallish lake

Exactly that. This programme is for the masses, not just the hardcore carpers. I can't see them going to some of these rock hard venues and blanking being very good for TV ratings. Take it for what it is, if you like it watch, if you don't, then don't.

I HAVE watched it and don't see what the problem is. It's made for a general audience (it has to be to get on in the first place) and is classic ITV style production similar to 'Breaking Dad' with Bradley Walsh, it is what it is, main thing is it's Carp Fishing on mainstream TV

The same way I don't buy a particular bait, use a range of hooks, or sleep under specific types of bivvies....peer reviews.
I also knew years ago I wouldn't to watch them and some orange faced TV personalities quiver tipping for Bream. It's not my bag.

The reviews in general across the whole series have actually been quite good, not sure why you wouldn't at least give it a try, what have you lost? A few hours out of your life, not exactly much in the grand scheme of things really is it??

Met him on a few occasions. He was always pissed. Legend. I absolutely love passion for angling but I think I'd have to say Go Fishing was the greatest fishing TV show ever created. Absolutely nothing was allowed to get in the way of watching it.

I like Monster Carp, it shows us waters that most of us would never fish or get the chance to fish. It also shows that Anglers no matter how good they are can still struggle to catch. Its better than watching some of the dross they call entertainment on TV. I hope they make more series of this in the future. Its about catching fish and enjoying the time with friends, if that's not you I think that you might have chosen the wrong pastime.
I thought on the whole it was worth watching, yes some corny acting/gags but harmless overall. Best to get angling on mainstream TV to do this some adaptions have to be made as not every viewer will be an hairy ar$ed carp angler
