Jubilee doesn't mean anything to me so I'm off fishing I'm on canal for a few days been baiting a swim up since Monday and Sod's law when I got there today someone's float fishing the very swim, still I went to next stretch and saw 2 fish jump or slap tail on surface and disturbed a fish in the edge so set up there instead.

Loads of family stuff all weekend. Looking forward to it. It's not necessarily about whether or not the jubilee/monarchy mean anything to you, it's a good excuse for a long weekend with an excuse for a party or two

Not for me this weekend. They haven't properly spawned yet so hopefully will get it done if the temps stay up in the next couple of days. The fishing has been poor the last couple of weeks and it will be busy this weekend. The long weekend is a good excuse for a few parties.

Your life may be good. I can't afford days off, don't have a garden for a bbq, family either estranged or emigrated, I've given up alcohol and my missus has lost the plot post pregnancy.
Where was the queen when my mum couldn't pay the rent, mortgage or bills after my dad left? In a palace.

I don't dislike the Queen as a person. Saw her once when she came to launch HMS invincible. She smiled and waved at us. I'm not anti royal either. Probably wouldn't invite Andrew round though. Met Edward (remember him?) once. Nice enough. Fergie's kids books are good. They didn't choose where they were born just like we didn't.
28 million quid could provide a big boost for the food banks but nobody wants to celebrate that.
All the blokes in red jackets and big hats prancing about on horses while winged death flies over? It's just our version of Kim Jong Un and his bouncing soldiers and tanks isn't it? All very expensive and pointless showing off.

I pulled a rake through a swim on a local park lake a couple of times over the last 2 weeks on the qt after a couple of decent tench. Ended up having a darts match so couldn't get there til 5 Friday morning, rough as a bears arse. Bivvy on the peg.

But Elizabeth has been exemplary in a job she wasn't in line for and I couldn't and wouldn't want to do

I was in the Netherlands this weekend visiting the oldest boy no time for fishing but found a few to watch for a while in the parliament buildings lake in the Hague between 20 to 30lb at a guess one was a long fat pig.
Edit: anyone using Schipol airport in the not too distant future be prepared for long a long wait for security, literally two scanners were open took nearly three hours from joining the que to putting our bags through.

My personal view is we should have saved 6th June as the second Bank Holiday, in recognition of the D day landings, which are equally as important as the Platinum Jubilee.
I fished much of last week.
I had a job interview last Monday and start this week, induction day tomorrow, so fished Tuesday to Saturday after helping my dad with a few bits Tuesday morning.
Saw the fish, but for some reason they were very cagey. It could be because they were in the margins. Lowered a bait in on them, but they totally ignored it.
