Hi guys I know there's some bad weather coming but is there anyone else out this week,I'm fishing from today untill it gets bad my partner thinks I'm crazy but can't catch if your at home,oh and weather sort from the wi f is quite warm even at 6:39 this morning it was 12 degrees.

Conditions today/tomorrow are bang on. Mild and windy, which will help warm the water temps up and hopefully get them moving/feeding. I'm doing an overnighter tonight, I've been pre-baiting waiting for this weather. It's perfect. Watch me blank now.

Hoping to get out at the weekend.

On my way out Friday. Currently looks like I'll be putting the bivvy up in 65mph winds. I'm sure they are just being dramatic. We will see.

Not a chance, fishing in stormy conditions in the summer is bad enough, but in winter, stuff that. Been there done it, it's not enjoyable, and there are some proper winds coming in aswell. Social media will be awash with photos and videos of brollys been smashed up or blown away

I'm going to re-arrange, currently getting over really bad back issues and being soaked and windswept has never helped my bones. gone are the days of my youth where I'd happily touch ledger for bass in surf conditions only the RNLI had the right to be out in lol

Don't pitch up near any trees, there will be trees blown over or big branches coming off. Remember 2 people died in the last storm. They give warnings for a reason.

I'll be out Thursday night, looks like the pre work pack up will be fun on Friday. Won't be doing the boating lake though!

This weather is starting to get on my wick. Every weekend so far has been freezing and during the middle of the week turn out decent, only for it to go icicles again. I'm not out this weekend, sod being freezing yet again. I'll wait till it starts looking a tad warmer for the weekends, saying that, I'll prolly buckle and rattle off next weekend and freeze my nuts off and spend all weekend moaning about it.

A lot of big ,dead branches coming down that have been caught up in the higher trees ,that you can't always notice til they actually do ,come down..

As I've seen earlier..

Came home ,too rough even for me on the float..

The way the rain is coming down here I'm just going to stay indoors and wait for the lake to come to me...

85 mph winds forecast here for FRIDAY gusting to 100 apparently.

Exactly, is a carp worth that much to people?

I hadn't really checked the weather. I plan my trips for when I am able to get out, and not by weather forecast. That said, it's only about 30mph winds where I am, no big deal.

That winds getting up; it's howling outside right now.

A couple of weeks back was in a storm, man, it was like being in a hurricane, that wind was powerful. Sod being out in 70mph+ winds this weekend. Ganna be some flattened bivvs and storm damaged bods in the next few days

Got the rods out about half an hour ago, managed to get the Brolly up before the wind really kicked in. Brolly + overwrap is 18 pegs and the ground is nice and firm. So far so good. 2 rods on a spot I've been baiting waiting for this weather front to come in. Finger la crossed for a biggun!

I need to be up and off the lake by 7 to take my daughter to work. The things we do eh?

Hardcore, tip my hat to you mate, its blowing a hooley here in Manchester. The closest I've come to doing any fishing since last September is stocking up on baits and bits and bobs in time for the good weather

Out first thing in the morning for 3 nights. I just love being out in this weather something draws me to it. Just being out there experiencing a bit of harsh weather with some rods in the water!. Can't get any better really can it?

When you've got a big warm wind smashing in, it's epic. I remember back to sitting in the face of a 65mph+ howler some years ago and having three on the bounce at night. Not a sole on the place other than me doing battle with the lakes inhabitants

I'm slap bang in the middle of the highest winds coming tomorrow and I live on the coast. I have bigger things to worry about such as will my 3 storey house become a bungalow.

I've just noticed a big surf shop has boarded up all the windows,and a JCB,has shifted a load of stuff to protect it,it's on the beach though..

The wind turbines have shut off as well,they do this so if the windspeed ups,it doesn't damage the blades..

I always use the turbines as a marker,...we shall see,how bad it gets or no..

This normally wouldn't put me off fishing I've fished in all sorts of bad weather and tbh I like it, this weekend isn't my weekend to fish though (can go every other weekend) aslong as you set up in the right area and set your bivvy up right your be fine just stay away from the trees

Seen earlier though on Facebook some lads bivvy crushed by a fallen tree looked nasty (wasn't a old one happened last night apparently)

They are predicting this to be the worse storm in 32 years, so its highly unlikely that you've ever fished in something as bad as this before, so giving out words of advise of "your be fine" when the met office are issuing threats to life, is abit wrong in my book

It was Josh,I tell you mate...me,my daughter and my wife hid,and I make no apologies for being dramatic either,under our big kitchen table..this was 32 years ago...

If you've have ever heard the wind scream and howl like a demented animal in pain ,that's the best description, I will never ever forget it...

I have even parked my 4x4 into the wind direction given for the morning ,never side on..

My boss has sent us home for the weekend,we've got a 40million quid project going on ,fully expect damage to unfinished frames etc ..

Like I say mate,time will tell,I respect the wind ,I don't take liberties with mother nature..there's a reason why the hedges here are bent and knurled over..

sadly, i remember the last horrendous storm, i was in kent and couldnt get home, trees flattened for what seemed liek miles, i spent the night absolutely pooing myself in the car as the M20 was shut

When did I say I had? I said I like weather like this! I would have no problem going out fishing in it aslong as I'm set up right, I've fished in 80 mph winds before (abroad) and was alright, obviously I wouldn't ever recommend someone going out in it if they wasn't confident in just saying there is plenty of people out that “will be fine” met office giving out a threat to life isn't a rare thing either tbh we had it down my way not long ago

Given the met offices run of form I'm going to look out the window on the day.
This week's predicted biblical precipitation turned out to be nothing more than a damp squib, costing me two days earnings.

This thread had me thinking I was nuts out last night but it was fine. Got blowy at about 5am and it's blowing harder now. Tempest Brolly holding out fine and whoever says Delkims give false wind bleeps can't set them up properly. The waves are hammering into my end of the water and they have been silent (unfortunately). Worst of it yet to come I think.

Where abouts do you live mate? I've fished every weekend since October, I really suffer with the cold, and I think I've only had to put my big coat on twice. Down here in Devon it really hasn't felt like winter at all to me. Only had 2 or 3 frosts in the mornings I can remember. Had a lot of wind, but most of it has been crazy warm double figure temperatures.

Is it just me or has this seemed like a realy mild winter?

It's not exactly how you put it though, but we'll agree to disagree. But anyone out in it today if your bivvy gets smashed to bits then it's your own fault, although I would doubt anyone would admit it though, as essentially that would straight away put you up for a Darwin award

I'm used to the wind,there is wind and then another level,I'm about to.lose my electricity..it keep going off n on..

My elderly neighbour was trying to prop one that divides our properties up, caught my side just in time I think!

Reinforced it with some lengths of treated 2x4 that were for a project lol. And some bits of decking to try and stop them tearing in half.

I've started a comments war in a 70k size group of people by saying it's stupid to fish in the weather, so far I've been insulted for being vaccinated, wearing a mask at times, had my weight, business and mans culinary questioned.

Now I don't need any of the stereotypical unsavoury *****'s as customers so have pretty much responded in kind

I know it's immature but I've decided the best thing I can possibly do whilst it's physically impossible for me to cook bait or deliver it is to simply throw some social hand grenades 😂

Gonna start a “roll or breadcake “ debate this afternoon on one of the more northern dominated banter groups I'm in, it's quite......uncivilised. ( not because they're northern )

Either way I've now got some firewood for next winter on my lawn.

I went to work this morning and was turned around by the police after powerlines were down. Tried to go a different route but a truck had turned over so I went home and packed my fishing kit and off to the lake. As long a you are in a sheltered spot and not withing falling distance if trees, what does it matter? Wind is howling over my head but I'm down low. I'd probably be at more risk of getting hit by a flying wheelie bin letting the dog out at home.

This morning there were cars driving under a tree uprooted by the wind and resting on a single electric cable across the road at the front of our house. Obviously very important for them to get somewhere.

Can you not fathom, that today of all days might have been the one to not risk it? to say "don't set up under trees" is just idiot speak for " I don't understand how wind works" - I've seen many heavy objects magically move of their own accord at quite a pace today.

Also, think about how many near misses and injuries the NHS is being flooded with today, many more than the average day.

Say someone does happen to you, and someone else calls an ambulance, you're then taking life saving emergency service workers away from those who might need them due to unavoidable circumstance.

The reply stating facts about smokers and the like, yes, its a valid point and I'm against that also. however, bear in mind that police, ambulance, fire service etc could be pulled into extremely hazardous situations because of a choice someone made to not withhold their recreational hobby for a weekend. its selfish behaviour.


Carp angling will only need a touch of bad press in todays society to be in ruins.

But what's the chances of getting hit by something, realistically? The only time I saw things flying around today were in built up areas. I'd bet realistically your chances of having to call an ambulance at home are ten fold.

In fact, I'd bet there's statistically a considerable more chance of people who stay at home, having to call an ambulance because of terrible life choices and risks they have made every single day of their life. But the angry brigade aren't shouting at all the overweight people who are actually wasting the NHS time.

Do people not realise the weather is different all over the country? We had a small period yesterday morning it was a red warning, then it died down to a a yellow about mid day.

On a venue surrounded by no trees in the middle of nowhere it could be safe to fish. You probably didn't want to be using a brolly but...

I can think of a couple of places where banking protects you from the wind.

These people spouting about being "selfish" by fishing in wind and wasting the NHS's time, probably want to ban motorbikes from the road, ban all forms of Motorsport as well as climbing and surfing, as its selfish and a burden on the NHS to put yourself in danger.

the percentage of anglers out during the storms would have been so minute it wouldnt even register, and id love to see how many anglers got crushed by a tree.... i bet that is a big fat zero

what about the hoards of people standing on the beaches, harbours etc watching the waves smash against the shore line....oh, they are bad bad people

I am fishing at present on a river since Friday afternoon. Bivvied up in large open field in Titan Brolly. Dug out my 12 inch pegs in the week and kept an eye on the forecast since middle of the week. Wind died down yesterday evening and not too bad this Saturday. Preparation is key but definitely would not fish a lake surrounded by trees. Just not worth the risk.
