I'm after a super buoyant 12/13 mm crab flavoured pop up, something quite pungent are there any out there you would recommend ? Cheers 👍

UB Baits will do you something like this as a custom order if you tell them what you want. Think you have to order a minimum of 2 pots though but still good value

Proper job do a savoury crab. ive not used it but id imagine if its anything like the rest of their range you won't go far wrong.

Scent from hell are a intense monster crabby smell. Wouldn't say they were super buoyant in the small sizes though. I make my own corkballs with JB shellfish bio and his crab flavour.

UB Baits do one in their standard range - GB Crab. He hasn't got any in stock at the mo, but if you call him, I'm sure he'll knock some up for you.

I used to use the bait room ones which were like a burnt orange colour, they were superb but I've run out now and not paying £40 a pot 😂 will you be doing one in your range mate ?

There isn't a lot of natural crab type products around in fishing baits at the moment, I know there is dehydrated crab meat in “mirage baits” gear run by Marcus Watts if that's any use to you.
I personally think a wafter may be more achievable to have “real crab / food” in a hook bait, I just don't stock faith in flavours the same way.
Could very well be a fun task for yourself, it's an addictive add on to the sport and For about 50 quid you can buy some pop up mix / base mix / cork dust / liquids then Nìck a couple eggs from the kitchen, however savoury flavours don't always brush the other half up well lol

We tend to make decisions based on demand. We have some very nice crab products and it is something we have played about with. I like the idea of some nice hydro liquids mixed in with it and some powdered elements. Just not sure what colour it should be!

Does colour catch the angler or the carp tho?
Just to try and be different, I've knocked up a couple of baits for short sessions over the winter, a yellow strawberry one and an orange cream/garlic one. Commercially shouldn't the strawb be red and the cream white?

Yeah not a bad shout! The colour is important to me for two reasons
First one is certain colours sell better than others
Secondly certain colours work better than others! Purple........could not buy bites on it, same as blue!
The makeup of a hookbait is the thing I'm interested in the most and a few fishy crab type ingredients have caught our eye and are not currently in many if any hookbaits!
It would be nice if the forum crab lovers could come to some middle ground regarding colour 😂

Interesting regarding purple hookbaits. I've actually had some really good results on purple over the last year. I was trying to get away from the regular colours and went with purple. Maybe down to certain waters like most things.

Absolutely
Some waters I find respond very well to bright baits and others they can be slow burners! I alway start by trying bright baits though as I'm super confident with certain ones. The purple just seemed to be the one that was least effective on the lake I used it! Maybe it's a confidence thing, we have favourites and always return to them for whatever reason! Yellow and pink are always good sellers and good catchers!

Blue and purple baits have caught me numbers of fish.
The blue was an experiment of my own with a standard fishmeal base mix and a normal household food colour. The fish definitely got onto them!
I'm sure Dynamite baits did an orange Monster Crab pop-up, I used to use them as the top bait on snowman over a Smokey Mackeral boilie on Nazeing. Had a lot of fish on that combination, as well as Squid and Octopus as the topper.
Dynamite do have an MC range out now, but I haven't used them.

If you want a pungent Crab hookbait then look no further than RG Baits Arctic Crab.....makes Scent from Hell smell like a bunch of flowers in comparison....even better when a few drops of their Arctic Crab liquid are added....

Unless they meet the menace that are mitten crabs 🦀 walked down the Thames, down the Lea into the stow ressies! Chinese mitten crabs make crayfish look tame!! Not sure if they can breed in Stillwater in the UK so probably not a food source for carp.

I'm a crab flavour fan.
Proper job pop ups savoury crab are great, 10mm very buoyant and caught loads on them.
I use Baitworks scent from hell spray on them.
Baitworks 15mm scent from hells are also good but not very buoyant. I drill them out and stick a bit of cork in them. Done well on the white ones.

I loved crab and black pepper as a combo. My PB and some of my best fish have come to this. in a mustard yellow / browny sort of colour.
Certainly repels silt.
