I would imagine on par with what the MK3's are now for rods as for the net not sure where but I'm sure I've seen £189.99 posted somewhere, but that could be totally wrong memory is not what it was.

The lighter mk2's are a set of rods I wish I'd never parted with. The mk3 distance rods on the other hand felt clunky and clumbersome. Cant wait to have a waggle of the 12ft'ers

what is a shame is there is no market for lighter test curves nowadays ... would love to of seen a 2.5lb rod .... even better if on the Alcolyte blank .... cant see it happening though

there was initial problems with the first batch of blanks, but i gather this was sorted and the later made rods are fine....at least i hope so as my 2 alcolytes are lovely to use for trotting

The Alcolyte tip problem tended to be on the lightest "ultra" version and was rectified years ago

Good to know, thanks for sharing...once I bought my rods for the bolo and stick and slider I stopped looking so wouldn't know they've rectified the problems 👍

They're not all very good though. Seems a bit nuts for people to drop nigh on a grand (with net) on something they have never even touched just because it has some guys name on it.

Both mk1's and 2's were a bit special so maybe people are choosing these based on their heritage too.
And as said Drennan don't tend to release rubbish stuff

Just on the net front: if this new net is anything like it's predecessor, which incidentally is the best I've come across - maybe my MKII Dymag is more fancy and similarly as good flex wise as my Terry Hearn net - it'll be a sure fire winner and well worth the cost.

We named them Snapolytes. Between my two friends and I, we broke 6 whilst fishing on the Dorset Frome. When you strike into a one pound brownie, and the tip section snaps halfway down, you aren't that happy.
Don't care if they have been 'improved'. Would never buy one again.

I'm expecting it to be 700ish for a pair of classics and net but won't paying for them until I've seen them. The shop I use won't even take a deposit as they will be selling the whole range anyway. The fact they will have Terry's name on means they will have 40mm advanced pattern guides on them and if they are as good as the mk1 and mk2 will be great for me.

Net looks decent, but agree that the end cap was a daft choice. Even mentions pushing the end into the ground in the blurb so can't have been an oversight.

My Dymag Net handles are reverse taper with a titanium or aluminium spike on the thinnest end and I do exactly the same thing with it😂😂 stick it in the ground👍👍

Got 2 original Hearn nets and they don't have a spike either but you can definitely still jab them into most types of ground.

How do you rate the 12ft 3.25lb rods so far (if you have managed to use them)? Thinking of a set myself. Had the mk3 12ft 9" distance rods and they felt horrible to me, hoping the shorter length and lower tc makes for a more pleasant rod

The new ones I have are fairly light and slim but I've only cast them a few times and not fished with them yet. Really wanted to try the 3lbtc but like said they didn't get them in but was impressed with the 3.25tc enough to buy a pair. Will still look at the 3's but my fear is they may not be a true players rod. The 3.5tc may well be a good distance rod for anyone that just doesn't get on with 13 footers. If what esp claim is correct ie 160 yards while still being nice to play fish on I may well end up with a pair of those as well.

yep, very similar weight wise to my old matrix bulldog but slightly stiffer and easier to take apart. My bulldog was the later mk2 with fixed block.

I've got a pair of the 3lbtc and a pair of the 3.25tc, looked at the 3.5tc but don't need rods that powerful for my fishing. I've also had the 12ft9in in both tc's but preferred the lighter classic, although the distance rod was OK casting with 4oz leads I never enjoyed fishing with them and wasn't prepared to buy the 12ft 3.5tc purely on that experience which maybe a mistake but will reserve judgement until I have tried one as I do know someone who has bought three.

From memory very similar to the mk2 just a touch firmer in the tip but the sic guide inners aren't as thick although they are thicker than the ones in the 50mm sets on the higher test curve rods. The three's are definitely my personal favourites and will be used for the majority of my fishing, I've put ultegra ci4 5500's on mine with 12lb syncro xt and they are lovely to cast, not fished with them yet.

I think these will be the rods I go for if I ever need to replace my ESP Tectrix 2.75lb ... Though would be interested to hear comparisons against the MK1 Snipers in 3lb as have spare set in loft

Are the 12' 3.25 and 3.5 similar enough that a 2+1 set would still look matched and you wouldn't notice the odd one out?

Recently received 2 of the new ESP nets/spreader blocks.
Fitted them to my Cotswold Rods 2-piece 8ft landingnet handles and the combo is simply perfect! 👍👍👍
