Anyone had any recent contact with Graeme at dymag? Spoke to him during lockdown in April, been trying to get in touch for a few months now to place the same order to absolutely no avail? Text/email/calls all being ignored? Is he still trading?

Sure he is however all blanks coming from harrisons( as his does) are subject to long delays due to staff isolating etc , so it could be something to do with that ? But he would still answer you unless he is ill ?

He is normally pretty good at replying particularly emails, I'm only after bank wear, buzz bars sticks and some stabilisers. Hope he is all well, just wondered if anyone else knew something I may not.

I've emailed a few times enquiring on prices (don't know why they aren't just listed on the website), availibility or asking to order and have never had a reply.

Haven't bothered chasing someone to buy from them, would rather go elsewhere where your custom is appreciated.

I gave up. Emailed a quite few times now but never had a reply. He used to reply eventually but it s been months now and never heard anything. He has had quite a bit of money off me over the years. A quick reply is all thats required but nothing in 6 months is pretty crap. Hopefully he is well. Even if he just put something on his website saying he is not taking orders at the moment would be a start.

I dont think you realise its a custom made product by 1 man who produces IMHO the best landing net in the world barr none
its not a factory mate your paying a top price for a top product and worth the wait he gets snowed under with enquiries

pretty much the same as the other legend who makes custom products to order Defiant MPS who also makes some of the best custom products in the world
and lets not forget with covid affecting everyone and every ones materials your gonna get delays but some things in life are worth waiting for

I just hope Graeme is well

I know it's not a factory, I know what they sell and also I'm not your mate.

Not replying to potential paying customers isn't really the best way to run a business though. The other company you reference, defiant mps are helpful, give prices and respond to emails.

I agree, hope he is well. Just wanted to ask to see if anyone one here may know him or have been in contact with him, I last spoke to him just before lockdown. It does become somewhat frustrating when trying to place an order for the best part of 6 months, especially when you know it's the best available and don't want to chop it in for anything else 🤷🏻‍♂️

There may well be a decent reason - I don't know as never chased them up.

Was simply relaying my experiences in line with what the original poster asked.

Its the best net I have ever used,it took me months to justify buying one.The first time I used it I soon realised it was money well spent. The handle is very stiff making it so easy to manoeuvre in the water and netting fish a doddle

I would like to think being a one man band, probably swamped with work as I can imagine a lot f folk are treating themselves during these uncertain times and xmas is not far away.

Last heard from him in June.

being honest if I had to name one item of tackle that I was glad I bought and one that can physically help me put a fish on the bank its got to be my Dymag Mk 2 landing net

its possible to hold the very end and hold it at arms length and its at light as possible zero droop on the arms its in one word PERFECTION

why are the prices not listed on the site? is it supposed to a secret.

great products or not, not responding to enquiries because you are busy, is bad customer service. if its due to illness etc then that's different, but surely an auto reply could be set up on the email system to let people know what is going on.

We are a fickle bunch ,,,,, Certain companies not responding everyone would be up in arms and slating them (Cotswold rods as an example) .... yet others get continual benefit of the doubt . For me (illness aside) there is no excuse for no communication

Just no need for that. Gerry was conversing ffs. Get a grip.

Back on topic, it took me months to pull the trigger on buying the dymag due to price. After owning it for a few weeks it took me 5 mins to decide to get another to replace my spare net. They're brilliant.

3 years on and can honestly say I've never got to use the thing.

Edit - I had the stalker landing net at 38” with the extension of 3ft handle making 9ft in total.

I've dealt with both funnily enough. Don't get me started on Cotswolds rods. There's a stark difference between making false promises and then going missing when said promise is never going to be made, and struggling to get an order in. One thing I can vouch for dymag is once your order is made, a date has been given for delivery, they turn up on time every time. No excuses, like I said in original post, I haven't actually placed an order, but just looking to top up an ever growing collection of his bits, perhaps once I get through I'll get extra just in case for future 😂

Well having looked on google I think it's fair assumption to make he's probably busy

Between 13 May 2020, when the restrictions were lifted, and 9 June 2020 over 335,000 licences were sold compared to 142,000 licences sold from the start of the year to end of March 2020. This also represents a rise of over 200,000 more than the same period last year.

Im in the market for a spare landing net to go along side my free spirit net, I was looking at a dymag net or a N.S.R landing net/ sling by evolution tackle. I'll be completely honest I much prefer the design of the NSR net just like the idea of it turning into a sling each time without having to move fish around and comes with a spare aswell. BUT I would have no problem getting another type if recommended

Not half. If a shop doesn't reply in 10 minutes you get a post on here slating them. Yet these characters don't bother replying for months, or keep your gear with zero contact (the guy who fixes alarms) and it's all fine. All it takes is a few minutes a day replying to customers, it's not as if Dymag have 2 or 300 emails a day is it..

Agree he makes the best nets available as ive had 3 off him over the years and numerous other things but ive emailed Graeme numerous times over the last 6 months and never had a single reply. I know he is a one man band but thats plenty time to send and email back. Keith at mps is a one man band and his communication is superb. Hopefully he is fit and well. Even if he just put something on his website saying he is not taking any orders at the moment would be a start.

If your last 2 posts are a dig at me I suggest you grow up. I never come on here to berate dymag or Graeme, I've had nothing but a good experience with him and his kit, hence wanting to purchase more. I appreciate the fact it's hand made, and doesn't come at the click of a button so with the following he has on here it seemed a suitable place to ask if he is still trading or not. Which obviously remains to be seen as plenty of people have struggled to contact him aswell. Fingers crossed he is ok regardless of whether he's still knocking up tackle or not, it's really not the end of the world if he's packed it in, albeit a great shame as his kit is some of the finest available.

At least he is ok.
I've never had a problem with him.
He told me how much the net was, including spare arms and mesh.
Factored in whipping that I supplied.
Gave me a date for when it would be ready - then phoned me a few days before and gave me courier details.
And like so many others have said - it's the best net out there - once you have one the price or quality are never an issue.

Not responding for months on end is just down right rude and poor customer relations.

No matter how great the product is, politeness costs nothing.

In my case it certainly wasnt "months on end".
Very good contact until my specification was sorted - once I paid then still good contact arranging getting my whipping thread to him. Once he had the thread then I left him alone for 6 weeks (or whatever it was) while he built the net. He called me when it was ready for delivery. What is there to complain about.
Sometimes you just have to be patient and let them get on with it.

There is no defence of terrible service Tony.

My first Dymag net was purchased many years ago and nothing else matches it.

I praised the company personally and on this forum years ago.

When I asked about a replacement net over a year ago I got no reply. I have since followed this up with two other requests. Nothing, not even an acknowledgement in over a year.

No matter how great the product, this is shocking treatment of an old customer. There is just no excuse.

I'm just telling my experience with Graeme.
Mesh is same as Solar mesh - so that's easy. (Just buy from johnson Ross or where ever)
I would have called Graeme out of courtesy - if I couldnt get hold of him - then I would have bought the same thing elsewhere. Even now there are several sellers on e-bay with Solar mesh in stock. I certainly wouldnt have waited a year.
I'm just calm about it all.
If I cant get hold of someone to buy something, I just go elsewhere - it's not a big issue.

Maybe he has delegated someone else to do this?

Has anyone telephoned him the number is on the website?
I've never dealt with him but if he used to be ok but all of a sudden it's got difficult maybe something has happened in his life? Yes he should let people know but maybe that 'something' is preventing him.

If that's not the case then don't give him your business.

Never had a problem getting stuff ordered and delivered from Graeme!

I believe he's a one man band and contact can be difficult but he's not on here to defend himself but hey ho lets slag his business off.

If he's taken money and not delivered yes lets go for it but if he's not replying to enquiries thats a different story. Maybe he is swamped with work or enquiries from tyre kickers, who knows

Can only praise his work and results and everything i have had from him is spot on and worth the wait, but its not a lift off the shelf service

Having had a issue with a mk3 landing net arm a few weeks back, Graeme couldn't have been more help, even posting the arm back to Harrison for them to take a look, to double check the carbon. Communication has been fantastic from start to finish, answering emails promptly and even ringing me one morning last week to let me know how everything was going.

Having also experienced earlier in the year unanswered emails and calls, I can only think he's back up and running again.

An issue with the worlds greatest net??? Is there no hope for anyone anymore? Glad it got sorted quickly for you mate.

So dymag, the cultist of cult brands, uses solar mesh, and Harrison arms? Guessing the handle is Harrison aswell then. So what does mr dymag do to make this net so amazing, apart from charge loads for it? Is the spreader block machined in house?

What now makes this net worth so much more than a solar bowline net for example, as I've seen the mesh moving through water easily, described as being one of the better features of the dymag many times?

I got the stalker one and it came with a JRC mesh; couldn't give a rat's arse about the mesh to be honest. I was more interested in the design of the whole stalker getup. A pal has got the Harrison net, god I laugh at its inferiority. And like I keep telling him, it's alright, but it ain't a Dymag is it.

Until you've got his kit in your hot little hands...

The Dymag Mobile kit is the proper nuts!

Graeme owns the mandrels that his nets and rods are rolled on. He designs and has made the metalware for his range of tackle and then assembles the components himself.

Id have thought the carbon used would be what makes the difference to arms and handles more than what mandrels are used.

But what your getting at is Harrison will make products for someone else, that are superior to their own?

So it's made up of Harrison parts and a Solar mesh (which is probably not made exclusively for Solar).
So the 'special' bit must be how it's all put together? Surely this Greame chap is not only person in the country or the world to be able to do this?

I own a few nets but was gifted a personalised mk3 dymag net a couple of Christmas's ago and its a truly incredible net. It's so light, extremely stiff and the arms and block are so easy to disassemble. Mega expensive bit of kit but incredible to use

Harrison make the parts on Dymag Mandrels to Dymag spec and because of design ownership I doubt t Harrison can make them for Joe blogs .
I cant believe I writing this from a hospital bed.

I agree
And I dont see my Mk 2 Dymag net as a cult net ? as some one has mentioned and I dont give a flying fig where or how it is made !

All I care about is the fact I am using the very best net on the planet IMHO
No question the most tense moment is at the landing net stage and I KNOW this net has massively helped in this process the extreme lightness and the superb rigidi arms with zero droop its a joy to use

Thanks gentlemen
Just a load of stones in my bladder trying to cut their way out cos they are too big to come the proper way!!
Getting a lazer and camera fed into my bladder in the morning - you can guess the route they are taking!!
Hopefully home in the afternoon

And what makes the mandrel so special, its a piece of metal that carbon is wrapped around when rolling it isnt it? As i said before, surely the carbon used is far more important than the piece of metal its rolled around? Im not particularly knowledgable with this stuff, but surely there isnt much they can do to make one mandrel different to another

Hope it all goes well mate

But there is a diameter, possibly different diameter at each end thickness, tapered thickness, weight of cloth. - I am sure Dymag had to pay for several mandrels before he got it right and many different arms before he got the right design.
Time to sleep.
Thanks

The amount of people that actually produce anything solely in house is very very limited. Harrison make blanks for many brands, rod builders each to there own specification, I highly doubt any of them actually made there own mandrels too they just get made something that's of Harrison's own doing and ok'd by the buyer. It's a niche market he operates from, not everyone wants it and that's ok but his bits are of the highest quality I've ever used, and what makes it even better, not every Tom dick and harry have dymag bits or have even heard of it. For the record too I've heard back from him, personal problems set back taking orders and I can accept that just fine, he's human after all and a lovely bloke who genuinely couldn't apologise enough when he called me.

I am shocked and sorry to hear of your stroke mate but I DO know a stroke can be cured with treatment as a mate had one and took a while but he is back to normal so FFS dont go selling your gear and as far as relying on others we have to accept the fact we do need help and good mates come shining thru think positive it goes a long way wishing you a speedy recovery mate

Don't go selling your gear buddy I'm sure your mates/ family won't mind helping it's what we are here for, my dad has bad copd he really struggles with it sometimes when we go I take all his stuff to the pegs for him and set his bivvy up for him, bait up for him sometimes and even put the fish back for him. I make it as easy as I can for him so all he needs to do is set his pod, rods and smaller bits up then cast out. There is always someone who is willing to help you mate.

If you lived closer I'd even help out I don't like seeing someone missing out on something they enjoy, I hope you recover well and be back out soon enough

As you're aware my Mrs has had lots of TIA strokes.

Because of all the medications/steroids that she was on her weight ballooned. She later had a gastric bypass operation ‘not through compulsive eating but through the medications that she was on/still on' To get a referral for an operation though on the NHS you have to play the system by telling them you're a compulsive eater.

After the operation this left her with only certain foods that she could digest which in all honesty were unhealthy foods such as cheese, chocolate, sweets etc etc. There were lots n lots of different foods that would make her vomit so it became trial n error if you like. The vomiting in turn caused a prolapsed womb. She went to go see a consultant over this at the hospital but unfortunately once again was ‘another long story' let down badly as this person was reluctant to put her under the knife to operate on the prolapse because the vomiting thereafter would only cause it to drop again. She stated that she would discuss with her colleagues the best way forward and would be back in contact and yet here we are some 7 years or so later and still not a word from her.

Prior to seeing this consultant regards the vomiting she went to see the stroke consultant at the hospital who wasn't convinced that these were strokes she was having as she at that time was so young but would look into this further and be in touch, but never ever did.

For the first stroke she had ‘TIA' she was given the blood clot busting treatment within the timeframe. For the next 5 TIA's that she had we would call 999 and she would be taken into hospital only to then be told that because she was on all the available medications going that there is nothing further that they could do. Thereafter, along with being totally/ignorantly let down by two consultants she doesn't even go to the hospital any longer because quite frankly in her words they've let her down badly. She's had a further 20 plus TIA's but none recent as further below may explain the reason why.

Looking back after the gastric bypass operation she wasn't given any guidance whatsoever regards dietary/nutrition but just simply left to soldier on which in turn lead to her weight ballooning.

Any stressful situations along with heat could well bring on a TIA to which 8/9 times out of 10 it would.

Her weight ballooned that much due to the cheese, chocolates, sweets etc etc that some 3 months ago she tried the Cambridge 1-1 diet which provides the right type of foods to suit her. My first thoughts were great, give it a try but with all the medications and steroids that you're on then don't expect to lose weight quickly or if at all.

Some 3 months later and in that time she has lost 35lbs, no vomiting, we've had warm weather, her brother has passed away ‘funeral tomorrow' which she's seeing having a detrimental impact on both her mother and father and most importantly NO TIA's.

That to me just isn't coincidence as just goes to show the importance of foods for your body. The Cambridge 1-1 diet gets adjusted to suit her body/weight loss as she goes along.

Good luck Bradders, good luck all who may be in this situation of suffering a stroke/s and hopefully it's given a little food for thought as to how strokes can/could be managed.
