Picked up a pair of thermally lined craghoppers from Amazon and I'm a bit disappointed in them really. Thin outer and inner, don't feel like quality at all. Certainly not hard wearing. In terms of keeping me warm, a pair of jeans would probably be better. They are meant to be water resistant, but they felt far from it.

I found the Craghopper winter lined trousers to be excellent. Everyone raves about them on here. They've outlasted the North Face equivalent that I had already.
If you want proper thermal you're better off going for salopettes mate. When it gets cold I'll ditch the Craghoppers for the Snugpak salopettes - but they're not waterpoof.
I believe ESP do a decent waterproof set.

Have you actually tried them in freeze your B******s off weather yet ? as so far we havent had any cold weather ? trust me when you do you will realise you dont need anything else I worked for over 23 years standing for up to 2 hours refuelling aircraft in one of the coldest places in England Heathrow Airport
and in that time I have tried everything every sort of long johns made merino wool , silk etc god knows how many sorts of thermal trousers and F**k all comes close to Craghopper winter lined for keeping you warm and comfortable

I wear normal craghoppers for work and they have lasted me 3 years so far and still look like new.I have the thermal ones for winter and they are superb,I working in a freezing cold warehouse and I have to get on and off trucks every five minutes.The groin area on jeans lasted 12 months max.The craghoppers still showing no sign of wear.thanks to Gerry I got them and glad I did

Hmm, maybe I should give them a go then. They just don't feel hard wearing at all and very thin.

I got some lined work trouser from lidl last year and it needs to be nearly freezing before you can wear them otherwise you just sweat like nothing on earth.
Warm is not the word !!!

I'd agree with that. I've had two pairs, lovely and warm as stated but they aren't a particularly good fit and the material is very cheap, pockets and a zip have broken on both my pairs and they don't get worn all that often.
They are not expensive and you are getting what they are worth, nothing more.

mine are definitely not any good for rain at all ! I have waterproof over trousers for wet weather that go over the top
but no need for long johns to keep warm
I bought my first pair around 10 years ago and I have never had any problems with zips or pockets or anything
in really extreme cold and wet I wear the Prologic Comfort Thermo Suit over the top and have been in France in minus 16c without being cold
mine are definitely not any good for rain at all ! I have waterproof over trousers for wet weather that go over the top

Merino wool long johns plus standard craghoppers trousers work for me.
Lined craghoppers not great if it warms up, merino wool next to the skin keeps you cool

I've had four pairs in all, two unlined pairs for the summer etc. Bought off the write up's on here TBH. For thirty quid they're ok but worth no more. Moved on to Millitary 1st stuff now spending double the money and they aren't perfect.
I have one of the Pro Logic suits, the original one in the Yank duck hunting camo and zip out fleece. I dont think that coat and sallopetts set has ever been beaten for quality and warmth. absolutely outstanding.

The problem with Craghoppers. along with many other brands, is that they're still trading on the good reputation they established originally, whilst having dropped the quality of many products in order to maintain prices at a level where they think they can make most profit. I used to always buy Craghopper Kiwi trousers, both lined and unlined, but stopped doing so a few years ago when the last pair I bought were of noticeable poorer quality.
I now wear the 5.11 Tactical trousers used by many security personnel, with thermal long johns and/or Goretex overtrousers as conditions dictate and have no complaints at all.

Cant go wrong with 5.11 I used one of their rucksacks for work. had it 6 years it still looks brand new, I use it on the bank for clothes and a stash bag for my valuables and tech if I'm on the bank for a few days.

The best winter trousers I found are Keela Quantum's, they are waterproof, wind proof, have 4 way stretch, ability to attach braces, knee, ankle and seat protection and a strange sort of very small 2mm for want of a better term quilted lining.
I've stood around on mountain tops and coastlines in Scotland in the depths of winter, coldest temp we recorded onsite was -18deg°C on Rannoch Moor, and never felt the need for any other leg wear. Conversely I've worn them in warmer climes and nearly melted.
Downside, they only come in dark blue, you have to very careful washing them, no hotter than 30 or the taped seams come away,also dry them inside out otherwise they take a lifetime
Looking on Keelas site they have been discontinued but they have some stock left in a few size, and they are only £25!! They used to sell between £99 and £130 in the past. I've still got 2 pairs and they are my go to winter trousers.
I've gone over to wearing their Scuffers for the rest of the year, warmish but with ventilation zips, showerproof, 4 way stretch and dry very quickly.
Thoroughly recommend Keela's gear, bomb proof within reason, maybe not the best looking for the high street as a lot of outdoor brands but they just work.

Sizing perfect for me - size 38 (XL) is regular length leg fit and not too baggy not too tight (bit like Levis 501s)
Stretchy and comfortable - I am 6'1" / 15 stone . .belt loops etc. Lining is fleece . . .exterior softshell . . .colour carpy green!

Got some craghoppers kiwi winter lined myself and never had an issue. Had them a few years and still going strong.
Yarp I have a pair of Craig hopper thermal lined trousers for autumn - winter mine are around 5 years old,
