Afternoon , what scissors does everyone recommend for cutting braid hook lengths . All my scissors ( including gardener braid blades ) are as blunt as feck and leaving frayed ends .

I tried a few from tackle firms (none of them last) before going to the local craft shop and buying a proper pair of scissors. Still going strong 5 years later. No idea what brand they are.

Tried them all and the best by far are the new thinking anglers ones.They cut and leave no fraying and I like the built in stripper tool and puller on the top

Best I've used are ones that are unfortunately not readily available.
They are used by telecom engineers who use them to cut through the Kevlar braid that's used in fibre cables.
Not seen them on general sale but if I ever do I'll let others know.

i use esp. ive had them years. my trick is they never ever cut anything else. only braid

I'm not a braid user, but my old fishing partner was, he used electrical cable cutters, they were Stanley, maybe something to look into???

That's what I have used for many years, or at least ones for electronics.
Still use them now but after several years use they are starting to leave a stand or two sometimes.
My wife's hair cutting scissors also work well.
Never felt the need to pay carp tax just for a name.

second vote for the new thinking anglers ones. Only had them a short while, but they seem very good at cutting braid and the puller and stripper tool are very helpful
I use some scissors at work for cutting metal braid not tried them on braid tho

I was put onto these from a Barbel forum I go on and so I bought a couple of pairs and was truly amazed at how good they are
they will cut 15lb braid even without tension on it if you look on the picture they have like a saw edge and so it grips the braid rather than the braid sort of skidding out the way if you get what I mean
I have owned and used probably every make of braid scissors going
and I KNOW these are in a class of their own you only need to read the hundreds of reviews to confirm what Im saying

As a quick follow up to this I bought a pair of those Cuda scissors on Gerry's recommendations and as usual he is absolutely right, best scissors I've owned

Just bought a pair. None left on amazon for a couple of months so had to pay £7 on ebay. They look a nice compact size. They do some good looking pliers so might get some for my lure fishing as well. Theres quite a few things in there range.

Get an Any Sharp knife sharpener
Cut a piece of sand paper to sharpen them.
Sharpen the cutting edges on your blunt scissors with a ceramic sharpener

Use some tin foil, cutting though it sharpens blade. All the BS about getting this that and another when a simple resharpen is all that is needed.

Thats utter nonsense. Cutting tin foil wont do anything, either will cutting sandpaper which was mentioned further down the post. The only way you can sharpen something is by rubbing it against something thats harder than the thing your trying to sharpen.

Well Gerry does it again,mine just got delivered and I have just tried them on the worst braid for fraying I know.These just cut straight through it and not one bit of fraying which will make it far easier threading through hooks.Thanks Gerry you're a legend

I've got loads of carp branded braid blades and they are all totally crap compared to these Cuda things. Had to pay £9 delivered off eBay but they are worth every penny!!

Mine turned up yesterday. Very good compact little scissors with comfy handles. Very pleased with them but i wouldnt say they are any sharper than my owner ones after trying them both out together on different materials. I prefer the size of them though over my owners.

Yes £9 delivered on fleabay. I have Amazon prime but there were none on there when I looked and expected delivery was three months. They are incredibly good. I've never had braid blades that will clean cut through 35lb supple braid held limp. I've probably got a dozen pairs from here there and everywhere (all free and carp branded). None of them come remotely close to these Cuda things.

I used 12lb uncoated drennan braid. They both cut it with ease under no tension. They have replaced my owners though as they are a better size and handles are more comfy 👍🏻

My ones turned up from Gerrys. I now realise why my eBay ones were £9 delivered... They are bigger than the ones that came from Gerrys. The Gerrys ones are quite small in comparison.

yes I have the 5 inch ones too
but to be honest on the 15lb uncoated braid I didnt see any difference
they are both better than anything sold in the angling shops by a country mile and the 3 inch ones fit in my little tackle box easy
( I paid more on Amazon for the 5 inch they are now cheaper on ebay for that size)
