never thought about it before but i recon its 22

Unsure, but it's an old traingia, just about does 2 cups and the shrink wrapped handle has melted. I'm not paracording it because I'm not carpy enough.

Mines a trangia copy, pans kettle etc had it best part of 30 years now but I no longer use meths

Had my Trangia getting on for nearly 30yrs now. By the looks of it other kettles come and go. Trangia seem to be around for the long haul.

Probably the oldest bit of kit that I still use.Not carpy green though. Had it 42 yrs.

Don't know how that happened. Please remove mods

ditto on the two cup trangia. think I got mine when i was 12 so its now coming upto its 24th year.

Likewise with the rubber handle and lack of Paracord!

Bought a stainless steel folding handle kettle for camping 35 years ago. No idea what make but it's still going strong, not a dent, bit wheezy but still whistles. It will see me out.
Really got me thinking this. My kettle has started every day of every session I've ever done. Frost and snow, storm force winds, torrential rain, mist and fog and sun. The first thing I do without fail is to get the kettle on. Some of those first light cuppas are very clear memories. Tea is always made in a Coleman stainless mug that is older than the kettle.
Weird!! You have really fired my memory. I realise how much my mug and kettle are part of my angling life.

had my small trangia since the late eighties I think, healthy amount of scale and parasites in it which is good when you dont want a punisher in your swim too long

Genuinely no idea but I suspect over 30 years as I can't remember ever having another one.

I do remember winning a small pair of folding scissors on Hastings Pier when I was about 8 years old, I still use those now, they're 47 years old.

I've had 3 since the late 80's, all still around, standard black camping kettle small used for about 5 years, then a Primus 1, probably mid 90's used until about 5 years ago when I got a Fire Maple Heat Exchanger jobby.

32-34 years . something like that , no plans to change it either

I still use my Trangia too. Minus the handle shrink tube, think that was gone within a year off buying it...

Bought it when I was 12, I'm 45 now. Used to think I was the nuts with my Coleman stove and trangia kettle. Those 2 items were probably worth more than both my rods and reels at the time.

Mine is relatively young compared to some of the below, maybe 15yrs and going fine. Last time I brought it in the house to give it a wash out I did wash out a small slug though 😂. I'm hoping it slithered in when I left it on my doorstep for a couple of nights prior to washing, that's what my mind is telling me to think anyhow 😂

Kettle, what kettle, don't own one!
Caught my first 20 in 1988, owned one for a year and binned it.
Didn't drink coffee/tea then, don't now.

had no internet to reply . That's what got me thinking the kettle starts the day and as for punishers I find if you dip the kettle in the lake they soon disappear when you tell them you ran out of water unless it back fires next time they rock up with a gallon

Pot noodle, not a chance in hell.

I don't have a kettle, but use a small saucepan which I've had for thirty+ years.

I cant see the fascination with mugs that a tramp would not drink out of like its a badge of honour
I dont drink tea or coffee and its just squash whilst fishing but I use plastic cup and once it starts getting a bit sh*tty I gat a new one ... Is it just me that cant see the thing behind look at my tea stained mug and the spoon that a heroin user would not fancy using

I agree. I don't want to be drinking tea out of a filthy mug with water from a manky kettle. My old stainless kettle and mug are washed and cleaned after every session. The thread interested me because I had never thought about it. When I did I realised how many fishing memories began with a cuppa. Both bits of kit are almost as good as new after 30 plus years. Wish I could say the same about a lot of expensive tat I've bought over the years.

Wish I had the enthusiasm I had when I got that kettle and no aches and pains like back then lol

My kettle was an item I got when my Nan died, a bakelite covered handle that has been used on a range and gas cooker. I can remember it from the 1970's!
It has been descaled a few times, and I keep it clean.
I'm going to get stick for this, but it is memories of my Nan, as well as fishing.

As for my mug and teaspoon, I leave water in the kettle after boiling for a brew so I can wash and wipe them down.

I also have a stove top Bialetti my daughter bought for me, I do like real coffee, and now don't drink instant coffee at all.

No stick from me mate. If there are no emotional and spiritual elements to your fishing, why bother.
What a big softy I am.

I do think the old bankside brew is dying out. The amount of young anglers I know who dont even bother bringing a stove with them. And even if they had ,offering you cup would be the last thing on there mind. More interested in a can or two of " Monster energy drink "
So they can stay up all night posting carpy pics on there Instagram.

Do you think that 'they' have more money than outdoor skills?
I do still take sandwiches on a day session, but on an overnight session or longer I want hot drinks and decent food. Nothing like waking up with a bowl of hot porridge and coffee on a cold winter morning.

I can't afford a takeout delivery to the lake, I do prefer to cook healthy food while i'm fishing.

Nick, I think its kids in general. Some of the youngsters I've had working with me, not interested in tea. More interested in fizzy or energy drinks. The great British working man tea break is dying a death.

A kettle with personality, you can't buy character like that,
I've adapted it since that picture was taken. I've made it so the handle is removeable.
