I think people go way over the top with camo but then again I think face pubes, full sleeve tattoos look ridiculous too.
Clearly it makes you more carpy.
Scruffy bob made me some storm sides for my 50 inch wavelock brolly in the late 80s I asked at the time what about camo, he said don't be silly your going fishing not going to war 😁

If people want camo/DPM gear fine let them it aint affecting my fishing

Not a big user of camo gear myself but I really couldn't care less if others others choose to. Let's face it, the reason most (none camo) gear is olive is to be camouflaged.

I think my use of camo is to hide me from other anglers rather than the fish; a camo net to stop the bivvy being seen from the footpath, although I do still have a Jungle DPM combat jacket and trousers from the 1980's which I wear sometimes when fishing, the jacket more in extreme weather.
My usual fishing attire is plain olive combat trousers, and dark green or black t-shirts and sweatshirts or hoodies.

Also recently replaced my old cover with a 3x2m camo lightweight netting that I use for certain areas where bank side cover is not good and the fish travel along the edge, get some strange looks but it works a treat as I find it hard to sit/stay still and my movements have cost me dear in the past.
Each to their own.

I was opposite someone who had the netting over his bivvy ... everything was camo... he spent the day hammering his pegs in... the evening with the tv on... and a light on through the night.😂

If green camo pattern was important from a fish catching point of view, even when stalking, herons and egrets would be long since extinct.
Do I care what people wear when fishing? No not really, although drab clothing just fits in with a countryside pursuit. Urban carpers crack on with whatever you want.

I think that if you look at a colour in grey scale and it appears a similar dark grey to green then it's okay to wear - hence the red tops.

I used to have white (obviously non-carp) bait bucket. I went back to the car once and I clearly see it about a quarter of a mile away. Not good as I was barbel fishing at the time and might have been bending some of the rules about night fishing and it was visible on moonlight lights from a fair way. A quick lick of paint made it blend in, I even "realtreed"branches in with a different colour! It was functional because I regularly hid it in foilage whilst transferring smaller quantities of bait into a smaller bucket whilst I wandered about the river trying different swims. It was done a bit tongue in cheek but it did serve a purpose.

My mrs bought me some olive joggers for crimbo and I have put them in the van to wear every time I have been but I go after work on Friday so wear my work joggers and leave my unused olive ones in case it rains.

Jan Porter also wore red when fishing the match scene and John Wilson loved a red jumper aswell .... I think I read/heard somewhere in the distant past that some people wore red tops as fish photos looked better

I like wearing Camo , so much so that I have now moved on to wearing Camo Face paint ,hoping not only the fish wont spot me on the bank , but also people coming into my swim .

As for cammo as an ex squaddie I tend to avoid it unless it's something that has been bought for a specific purpose - ie a set of ex army goretex waterproofs that come in only cammo pattern.

Il be honest, most of my fishing clothes are purchased by the missus as stocking fillers or small items for birthdays etc.... Therefore I do own and wear camo but also wear other dark coloured clothing....it dead son the weather to what I wear when I go fishing.....
If it's your money and you like camo items then what's the problem in buying them.....I don't like skinny jeans but haven't got an issue with other people wearing them......

My only concern is the constent reinventing that some tackle compainies do each year just to sell sell and more sell. Lots of anglers I know change perfectly good kit just for the latest products.
That in my opinion is what is damaging the planet and our natural world and will one day come back and bite us carp anglers right in the as*
