A raging hooly is springing up on Saturday night and temperatures are into mid-teens. Worth a visit to the bank with an extra set of bivvy pegs I'm sure. The water temperatures have dropped following a couple of very cold nights. The reservoir is 50 acres, being the usual shape of a blunt deep end and a shallow pointy end. Assume the rest. Where would you go if nothing was showing?

The winds are from the west and could reach 70mph. Dam North. Shallows South so Ciara is a cross wind.

The lake i'm on is in a valley and ive fished it in a few big storms over the years - its fairly protected...

to answer your question - somewhere sheltered

Ive never fished in a storm / really strong winds... My syndicate lake is pretty open and I have a pass from the missus to go fishing.... Will my brolley be up to it or am I just gonna wreck another shelter.... I use a Titan AS which is pretty strong but don't wanna just destroy it for the sake of a 36 hr session....

Planning my first quick overnighter on a new syndicate sunday, cant wait perfect weather for a biggun :-p

The wrath of god couldn't destroy a Titan AS, they are made out of 3 tons of pig iron. You'll be fine. There's less metalwork in the forth bridge. When Nash ceased production of those, three steel mills in China closed down.

Will do, I give you it's really heavy, just got a wychwood mhr for 90% of my fishing ..... Just thought the Titan would be better in strong winds ....but wasn't sure it'd be upto the 60mph gusts.....

I'm fishing down in kent and its getting quite breezy now mind you I am only about 2 miles from the sea. The weather is looking good for a bite though. I was out in similar conditions last February on the same lake and had a 32lb mirror and 3 upper 20s after 14 blanks.

Hope those dodgy cowboys of mine did the correct mix.

I'm out tonight, definitely starting to get blowy!

I shall be tucked up safe beside my wood burner but plus one on the stay safe and good luck.
After seeing what the wind can do to 2 inch steel tubes of a poly tunnel I think you will definitely need a lot of luck and a very sheltered spot.

Sod going out tonight, I was out during the last storm in December, and that was ‘only' 40+mph winds - I was fishing the Trent and thought I was going to end up In the river with the Cayman wrapped around me! I did have 2 double figure Barbel to 14lb though, plus a bonus 12lb carp so it was well worth it.

50+mph though? No chance. Not by a river anyway!

You lot need you heads examining...! We are talking about 80-90 miles per hour steady with gusts of 120-130 mph.

Lovely where I am in sunny Bedfordshire. But I've gotta admit I'm off home once it's dark. Way too many old trees for me to camp out here tonight.

Really nice day today in North London too, going to be a bit rough tomorrow by all accounts, heavy rain and strong winds 50 miles per hour by 10am aprantly. I won't be fishing tomorrow.

weather is going to be a bit cheeky here in Surrey, I would def think twice about going out - good luck and stay safe if you do

I'm out until Monday if I can... I haven't had the bivvy door closed for years but it's going to be zipped up tonight!

The wind turbines have been shut down and no doubt locked...they rarely do this,only if extreme weather is predicted..

I won't be going outside,having seen roof ,fences and Delabole rag slate flying through the air like paper,in past times.

I have seen rag,just sitting, like butter on toast,sliced into peoples cars.....I'm staying inside....!!!!

I'm definitely in the right spot the wind is hitting the embankment behind me and going straight over my bivvy. Its getting lively now though and I think it will evil when I wake up tomorrow morning but on the plus side I've seen two shows right in front of me.

I'm going to head out shortly to see how my aeration windmill is fairing. Supposedly they'll survive hurricane force winds, here's hoping.

Had my first winter carp on my water in 3 years this weekend, worth being out!

Really hitting down west now and buckets of rain to go with it. The crows usually weather the storm in the trees at the bottom of our lawn. You can usually see them, big black blobs in the branches. No sign of them at first today but when I went out to retrieve our dustbin lid just now I saw something I have never seen before, the crows were huddled in the undergrowth on the ground. It's getting really nasty now. So glad I am inside with a cold beer and a warm woman!



Lots of French fishing boats sheltering under the land off Falmouth and down near the Lizard. Can't be very nice for them even out of the weather. Those orange bits are commercial boats.

Just got in, I would have stayed but the lake is being netted in the morning, didn't have a bite but loved being out in that weather, on the bivvy front I used a titan hide XL and it coped admirably

Fished friday / saturday night , was mental out this morning twice to double peg bivvy , 3am and 5am , got worse at daybreak , about 10am i gave in and came home.

I lost a fish just before I packed up around 14.00 it felt like a decent fish but I got cut off on something was gutted . Packing up was a nightmare it was really bad I could barely stand up and had to push loaded barrow head first in to the wind which was very hard work the drive home was not much fun either. I was quite impressed with how my 4 year old tempest composite stood up to the wind though.

Still out in it now... I can't remember ever being so pleased about blanking!

I'm just about to pack up from a very windy rain swept Hertfordshire water, no fish but the tempest xl stood up to everything that was thrown it

Less than quarter of a mile from us.

The thunder was the loudest crack I have ever heard and the incredible lightning blew all our fuses. Luckily we had got everything turned off, as we could see the broiling sky approaching. Even so, when we got everything back up I thought that the electrical charge that passed through the ground had burnt out my motherboard. Luckily, after three failed attempts to turn the PC back on it came back. BT phone and internet were badly disrupted but at least my router didn't fly 10 yards across the room.

It has been a hairy old couple of days and it seems there is more to come!

I've just seen a Lime tree with. a 2.5ft thick trunk snapped like a twig about 5ft up the trunk. Wouldn't fancy my chances if i was bivvied up next to that

Just finished sorting all my mud caked gear. 20-30mph winds 50 mph gusts, constant heavy torrential rain and a bite in the wind. 3 bivvies(not mine) gave up the ghost, most packed up within 24 hours.
I do this for pleasure? Stuck it out, lost one on a zig, 2 fish, one a 26 common. So YES, yes I do
